Hogan raised an eyebrow as he studied the soaking wet girl before him. This couldn't be right. London trusted a teenager to do this job? Yet, there was no mistake. It was noon and here she was by the fountain. The girl squirmed under his gaze. He softened his expression and clasped his hands casually behind his back. It was worth a shot, anyway.

"It sure is cold out, isn't it, Fraulein?"

"Tell me about it," she replied through chattering teeth.

"In fact, I believe it may snow tonight."

The girl glanced uncertainly at the overcast sky and sighed. "It won't be good for Gertrude's calf."

Well, it wasn't the code exactly, but it was close enough. He lowered his voice.

"Great. You have the blueprints?"

"Blueprints?" she echoed, a bit too loudly for comfort.

"The blueprints for the lab."

She pulled a damp piece of paper from her pocket. "You mean this?"

Hogan snatched it from her hand. "Yes, that's it. Well done, Snowgoose."

"Snowgoose?"

Sophie pondered what this meant until she felt the intense gaze of the second man behind her. She spun around to face him.

"You are Snowgoose, aren't you?" he asked in an intense voice.

A thousand images raced through her head of the many things they would do to her if she said no. Tugging at her wet sleeves, she forced a chuckle.

"Of course, I'm Snowgoose. Why else would I be standing here with blueprints in my pocket?"

"How did you wind up all wet?" asked the first man.

"Um, some Gestapo showed up and I slipped and fell in the fountain."

He chuckled. "Well, if it meant avoiding suspicion, well done. Now, let's go."

"Go? With you?"

"Of course. We have to get back to camp to develop a plan."

Sophie wrung her hands in hesitation.

"What's the matter, love?" asked the second man.

"Oh, nothing. It's just that… I have to buy food for my father and me but the money is, um…" She produced a few soaked bills from her pocket.

"Don't worry," replied the first man, "we can replace that wad, give you plenty of food and switch out those old clothes for something dry."

"You can do that?"

"Sure. It's the least the great Papa Bear can do for a fellow agent."

Sophie's heart swelled with excitement at those words. Papa Bear? This was the great Papa Bear? She clapped a hand over her mouth to contain her squeal of excitement.

"Okay, I'll go with you! But I have to be back home before dark or Papa will worry."

Papa Bear nodded. "No worries. We'll get you home in plenty of time."
