RMATJB

After a magic time jump to night time, Rosie, Max, Alexa, Tom, Jackson, and Ben (remember him?) had all found their way into the dorm room, where they found some of their belongings, including clothing, phones, and other such valuables. They all put on the exact same clothes they had on the previous day, instead of something more sensible like pyjamas.

There was a small chitter from underneath Max's bed. He pulled up the covers to find six tiny, fuzzy critters underneath, hiding. The six all fawned over the adorable little creatures.

Of course, if you couldn't tell by this chapter's title, the happy mood didn't last long. Alexa put her head in her knees, looking wistful.

"What's wrong?" Rosie went over to sit on Alexa's bed.

"I don't like this place," said Alexa. "It's creepy." No one could counter her on that; they all agreed that this strange new place was weird. "I don't want this new life. There was nothing wrong with how things were before."

"But Alexa," said Rosie, "you always looked so miserable before."

"I'm a loser stereotype," said Alexa, "that's how I always look."

"Hey." Rosie cupped Alexa's face in her hands. "You're allowed to be happy no matter what kind of stereotype you are. Besides, we're Save-Ums now."

"We're not Save-Ums." Alexa lashed out. "We're Fake-Ums. Just a bunch of stock tropes shoved into a place we don't belong."

"You know, that's something that happens a lot that really bothers me." Tom stood up. "Our archetypes completely control our lives. You…" He pointed to Rosie. "…can't be anything but happy all the time, Jackson has to be all about sports, and Alexa's constantly miserable." He put his hands on his hips indignantly. "It's not fair."

"Yeah. Being in a high school movie blows," said Jackson. "I'd rather stay here than go back."

Rosie nodded along. "I'm happy I get to be here with you guys. They normally only put in one character of colour and then pat themselves on the back for how diverse they are."

"Diverse," said Ben.

"Yeah, and it's always a huge controversy when they have a character who's gay," said Alexa.

"Or trans," added Max.

Tom shook his head. "It's so dumb. They don't see us as people; only money-making characters."

Rosie nodded. "I guess this is sort of a blessing in disguise. Sure, this place may be strange, but strangeness is better than mediocrity."

Alexa said nothing. She simply laid her head on Rosie's shoulder; the perfect bit of foreshadowing.

"Come on," said Jackson, going to turn the light off. "It's bedtime."

Everyone snuggled into their beds without taking the time to put their pyjamas.
