Chapter 2: Farasi
Very far away from Equestria, even further than Mt. Aris was the land of Farasi, Zecora's homeland, and the land of the zebras. They lived nice happy lives much like the ponies and other creatures of the other lands.
Things weren't that different, there were little towns scattered all over, adults went to work, kids went to school, and they enjoyed their lives. In one house, Zecora's family lived. Zana had stripes in a pattern of fat and thin, her eyes were the same color as her sisters, a mid-length mane, she wore an orange and yellow headscarf, matching wrap, and gold bangles on her front legs, and her cutie mark was a large black star.
Zander was slightly bigger than his wife, his stripes were all fat, he had green eyes, he wore a blue and green wrap, bangles around his neck, and his cutie mark was a large black swirl. Zula had thin stripes, a long mane, green eyes like her father, and her cutie marks were three small curls.
And little Zoly, had a very short mane, with all fat stripes, eyes like his mom and aunt, and a cutie mark that was just three black spots.
They lived happily in their little town, Zana was a potter making different clay bowls, cups, plates, and other things. Zander was a carpenter who lived creating things out of wood. Zoly was just a baby, who was learning how to talk, and Zula was just a young zebra with many interests.
Zula liked having fun with her family, hanging out with other zebras her age, and exploring with her pet toad, Tad. She was also interested in magic, and wanted to be like her aunt.
One morning, Zula was woken up by the sun shining through her window. She yawned, and stretched. Then she got out of bed, and looked in Tad's little tank.
"Good morning, Tad? How are you little lad?"
Tad looked up at Zula, and croaked. She smiled, picked him up, and put him on her back. They went to the bathroom to get cleaned, Zula got cleaned up, and went to their kitchen. In there she saw her mom, dad, and little brother.
"Good morning." she greeted.
"Hello, Zula my dear. Do have a seat here." Zana told her daughter.
Zula sat in a chair, while Tad sat on the table. Zoly cooed and reached out to Tad. Zula let her brother hold Tad, and Zander put some food on the table.
"Here you go. A nice breakfast that'll help you grow." he told them.
Zula and her parents were going to have some beets, and wild grass while Zoly was going to have some mushed up grass and roots. They ate their breakfast, and when they finished they got ready to go out for the day.
Zander was going to work in his shop, Zana was going to sell some of her pottery in the town, and Zoly was going with her. And Zula was going out exploring with Tad. Zula got her bag from her room, put Tad on her back, and said goodbye to her parents.
"Bye, Mom and Dad. I am going out now with Tad."
"Goodbye Zula, have fun. Please keep the trouble at none." Zana told her daughter.
Zula nodded, and left the house.
She trotted through town, and went into the grasslands.
"(Sighs), it's nice to be out Tad. And there weather is not at all bad."
Tad croaked in agreement. Zula then began to collect some leaves, roots, berries, and grasses. Once she collected enough, she started back home. She was going to practice making some magic potions, just like her aunt Zecora.
At her house, set her bag down, and Tad on the table. She then gathered her small cauldron, some bowls, a mortar and pestle, and her magic book.
"All right, time to start. Let's see if I can perfect this art." Zula said to herself.
For the next hour she followed the book, and mixed up some potions that could change a creature's size and voice. She added the right amount of ingredients, smashed up the ones that needed to be, and made two potions.
"And done. Now time for some fun."
She took a sip of one potion, and let Tad have a sip of another. Tad grew to the size of a zebra and Zula's voice got all high and squeaky. They both laughed together and how funny they sounded and looked.
Just then, Zana and Zoly came home. She was a little shocked to see the scene, while Zoly giggled.
"I see you're still practicing magic. I'm glad it hasn't ended in tragic." Zana told her.
"Thanks, Mom. The potions will wear off soon, remain calm." Zula said in her high pitched voice.
After a while Zula's voice went back to normal, and Tad shrank back to his normal size.
"You're getting better. I'll be sure to tell my sister in our next letter." said Zana.
Zula got a soft look on her face, she loved her Aunt Zecora, but she didn't see her that much. Sure she came to visit, but with her living so far it didn't happen very happen. Zana noticed her daughter's demeanor, and placed a hoof on her shoulder.
"I miss her as well. But she misses us too, so there's no need to dwell."
Zula smiled a little, knowing her mom was right.
That evening, when Zander came home, he began helping Zana with dinner. When they finished, they all sat down and ate, and talked about their day. When Zula mentioned her aunt, her mom and dad looked at each other.
"Zula, when you finish your mother and I need to talk. It's not bad so there's no need to block." Zander told Zula.
Zula nodded, and when she finished she took Zoly to his room, and then went to hers. To pass the time she read her books, played with Tad, and looking out the window. Then about an hour later, Zana and Zander called Zula to the kitchen.
"Yes, Mom and Dad? I hope nothings made you mad."
"No. Your mother and I have had a chat. About our location, we were thinking we should change that." Zander told her.
Zula was surprised, her parents wanted to move?
"But not just any place. We're going to wear your aunt is at base." Zana explained.
That got Zula's attention.
"You mean, we're going there. Tell me this isn't a joke, swear?"
"No joke. It's the truth we just spoke." said Zander.
Zula squealed, and hugged her parents tightly, and the hugged her back. The family was going to be reunited soon.
