Author Notes:
Hey! I'm Starglitch and I'm new to this website and community! this is my first fic, and I'm challenging myself a bit since dialogue heavy writing isn't my forte, so I'm hoping for some constructive criticism.
Just a quick bit about the characters so you don't get confused.
Third Eye aka Mary Grayson | Daughter of Nightwing and Oracle
Kid Flash aka Iris II (Irey) West | Daughter of Flash and Tigress
Zatara aka Zachary Zatara | Son of Zatanna and John Constantine
Eclipse aka Eddie Grange | Son of his parents
Everyone except Kid Flash and Third Eye aren't playing any major parts in the story,
be noted that part of this chapter may be rewritten seeing as I'm writing a time travel story and I'm trying to avoid plot holes. (Though that may still happen)
That's it, Hope you Enjoy!
NOTE: THIS CHAPTER HAS BEEN REWRITTEN (aka I went with magic cause that's easier.)

Sometime in the Future
"Alpha squad everyone in position?"
"Yep!"
"Yeah boss."
"Got eyes on her, she's at your eight."
"Alright, Kid Flash and Eclipse get ready to intercept them." Both teens gave sounds of acknowledgment.
"Try and stall as much as you can; remember the intent is to get the shipment and capture Abate."
She got a whine from Eclipse and a mocking "yes ma'am," in response from Kid flash.
She sighed, and turned to nod at Zatara behind her. "We're going in, wait for the signal."
Third Eye pulled her hood over her head, activating her suit's cloaking mechanism. Sticking to the shadows, she slunk over towards her intended target, keeping herself at a pace that Zatara could towering horde of crates in the corner gave off somewhat of an unsettling aura more so once she got closer.
Third, stretched her hands out and flexed her fingers. "Alrighty, let's see what we got."
Pulling out a tiny makeshift crowbar device, she wedges the box open, careful not to make too much noise though the subtle creaking is not helping her anxiety in that regard.
The red head finished cranking the hatch, stepping back allowing Zatara to mumble a spell that had the wooden cover removing itself at hovering in the air to reveal a mess of tiny irregular rhombus shaped devices, menacingly glinting by the moonlight. Third Eye tentatively pulled one out to begin her examination. She squinted, pulled out her holo glove and got to work.
Kid Flash, tapped her foot impatiently against the rock scowling as she heard a crackle from the comms which meant that Third Eye and Zatara had likely already started to analyze the Starro-tech.
She glanced at her partner who was draped over a rock, his contacts causing his eyes to now be tinted an unnatural shade of blue as opposed to their regular dark brown.
She groaned. "E, the magic lady do anything yet?"
Eclipse adopted a slightly exasperated expression. (He was probably about as entertained as she was.)
"Nope, she's just standing there lookin bored, sorry KF."
Kid Flash sighed, slunk down onto her back and resigned herself to boredom.
The team had been sent out to intercept The sorceress Abate's shipment of Starro-tech. She was the last magician that it had to go through to fully complete the magic element of the process, and they had been assigned to analyze the technomagic and bring in a sample. They had already stopped her shipment so next on the to-do list, was capturing her. Though that one wasn't as strictly instructed.
The woman wasn't the smartest around, (she had left some pretty obvious clues as to where she would be, burden of a monologuer.) Nor did she have particularly versatile her magic, but even the simplest spell she casted, tended to mess with the field of reality and space-time of whomever it hit. Not necessarily to a large scale, but to the point where it was inconvenient and extremely annoying, like a jinx.
What's worse is that they'd have to wait till the others had managed to secure the package before they moved in.
She grumbled.
She wouldn't trade places with Zatara or Third, but having herself and Eddie, the most antsy squad members, have to sit behind a boulder watching the dumb blonde wannabe Zatanna was not helping her mood.
She's brought out of her musings by E's voice clear in one ear, and crackling in the other.
"Hey guys, she looks like he's about to move,"
"Third you guys finish with the Starro-tech?"
"Almost just give me- "
There was a collective whirring noise along with the shuffling of feet, and a distant chanting of a spell in her ear.
"Package is secure," said Zatara.
"Alright E, KF move in," Third instructed.
Finally.
Kid Flash sped down from her perch, spinning her fist causing it to spiral with lightning. Aiming the punch at the offending blonde, she pulled her arm back and let the energy shoot forward. Abate, yelped and shot backwards, avoiding the blow. Once regaining her focus she scowled in her direction.
"Kid Flash! to what do I owe the unfortunate pleasure?"
"A tiny magician like you decided to blindly involve themselves with the Jury, you really should have seen it coming, though I probably shouldn't give you that much credit."
Abate growled and raised her hands, the aura around them glowing a bright gold. She let out a blast of magic with a cry, twisting her hands in an attempt to blast her.
The room turned to a disarray of flashing lights. Kid Flash a blur of yellow twisting and swerving across the landscape, a trail of yellow energy flickering behind her along with flashes of Eclipse's black and white form that had teleported towards their offender.
Kid Flash managed to latch onto Abate's forearm, her fingers digging into the woman's skin as she thrust her towards the trees. A flicker of black and white Eclipse appeared behind the blonde, latching onto her from behind, gritting his teeth as he sent positive and negative energy through the rouge's body.
The sorceress screeched in pain, making a desperate teleport away from the boy. Her magic never did too well against his powers, and she was already sluggish from one hit.
Abate blasted herself into the air, with a charge of magic, attempting to distance herself from the teens, flying toward where her shipment was supposed to be. Kid Flash and Eclipse right on her heels.
Kid Flash aims another lightning blast towards the woman, and manages to get in a lucky shot that sends the sorceress plummeting to the ground, spasming with electricity.
She landed, the force cracking the ground underneath her, yet still managed to push herself up on shaking limbs, and raise a crooked fingered hand to cast a spell.
Golden energy seeps from the ground, rising and surrounding the two in a force field, locking Eclipse out. The woman looks up from her fetal position, her blood smeared face, twisting in anger. She yells out some unintelligible words, and the world is covered in a golden hue that is begging to merge and tilt. She needs to get out of this force field.
Surrounding dry bushes creaked, and dust whipped into the air, swirling around the two. Abate continues to bleed heavily, her face becoming paler by the second.
The force field begins to flicker, and Kid Flash squares her feet, ready to run.
Abate's face twists into something full of ugly hatred, she stares at her shaking hands as if she's willing them to fall off, then she turns her gaze on Kid Flash.
"Speedsters!" the sorceress spits. Her voice strained to stay above the winds.
"Time itself blesses you with such an irritating power! yet I'm chained to these pathetic, mercurial hands."
Well, she did not enjoy that lightning blast.
The woman's eyes shone with sadistic glee, as if she had just experienced a groundbreaking idea.
"Yes, Yes! Let's see how well you do without your oh-so-precious time goddess to protect you!"
The field dropped, but the energy spiraled out and rendered her backup unconscious.
Kid Flash couldn't move. Her body was surrounded in the sorceress's aura and slowly inching towards her, The woman's face alighting with vengeful elation every inch she progressed.
She tried to vibrate her way out of the hold but it was no use, her body getting uncomfortably closer to the sphere of energy her captor was holding.
Suddenly, Third eye jumped in blasting with a wave of kinetic energy that had been collected in her gloves towards Abate. It was enough to break the woman's concentration, causing her to drop, but the world was still spinning. She faintly recognised the motion of her teammate attempting to pull her up, but everything was still thrumming with a numb feeling.
Abate screamed in outrage, her chest heaving with a large gurgling breath as she took in all the flaring energy around them, causing her hands to burn with fluorescent light. With a forward flex of her muscles and a scream she released the surge of power towards the teens, causing a loud ring to emanate around the hills, and swallowing every figure in golden brilliance.
Taos | March 17th 22:30 MST
It's Dark.
Her muscles are stiff and she can feel them beginning to numb.
Mary takes in a shaky breath and reaches out, (bad idea.)
Pain shoots through her body, encompassing her every nerve.
She doesn't scream, she doesn't cry. (Bats don't cry)
Instead she hisses and carefully retracts her arm. The movement sends her into a sharp vertigo. The sensation seems slightly familiar, and not in a good way.
The thoughts in her head turn from dizzying confusion to fear.
She calms herself, like she's trained to do, and let's her senses comprehend the situation.
Mary takes in the sounds of the night air, and cars in the distance. She's strewn across concrete ground, eyes sealed shut in pain. She attempts opening them only to be hit with that stupid sense of vertigo again.
(Please don't let it mean what I think it means.)
'Okay,' she thinks to herself as she tries to sit up.
'Stay whelmed.' 'What's the last thing I remember?'
The team was on a mission, she recalls she was on Alpha squad with three others. Something with a dangerous tech shipment. It was around evening, and they had split up. There was a flashy light. She jumped in front of someone, and everything went white after that.
Ok well, not the best information, but she'll make due. She hears a small moan off to her left and her heart stops.
Irey.
Mary turned sharply to the left; pain flared up in her side, but she ignored it, crawling towards her friend.
Irey's body was twitching and writhing, her back bouncing up and down on the concrete with heaving breaths. Her eyebrows were drawn together, And her sweat-matted hair was strewn across her face. She had a split lip that was gushing blood that painted her clenched, chattering teeth crimson. Her eyes held unsheathed tears and sclera that danced with yellow strings of lighting.
Mary's brain froze at the grotesque sight before she folded her legs under her, and grabbed her friend's shoulders.
"Irey? Irey can you hear me!" Mary pressed.
The older teen gave a minute nod. Mary figured she'd take it.
"Ok, ok easy." She soothed.
"We're gonna try and get traught alright?" "I need you to count to three as you breathe in, hold it, and then count to three as you breathe out. We're gonna try and get to ten. Can you do that for me?"
Irey let out a strangled gurgle, but her chest began to rise and fall systematically.
"Alright that's it." Mary whispered.
"Just keep going; You're doing great Rey."
Irey's dry heaving eventually came to a stop. She gave a long contained breath and curled into herself.
Mary leaned forward, peering into Irey's pain drawn face. "You back with me?"
Irey nodded sluggishly, leaning more into Mary's chest.
"What happened?" Irey rasped.
"I think we may have had a dimensional accident." murmured Mary.
Irey gave a breathless cynical scoff. "Hmm, what makes you say that?"
Mary gestured to their current unknown location and the Ford Mustang parked across the street. Irey squinted her eyes, and her lips turned down.
"yeesh, this place's got retro cars and all." Irey drawled.
"So time travel or an alternate universe? She continued.
"Not sure," Mary replied, "we'll have to get some more info after we find a place to crash."
Mary gathered her arms under Irey's armpits, and began to pull her up. She slung her friend's arm over her shoulder and placed hers around the girl's middle. They began to make the trudge to the tacky AirBnB they spotted across from their landing spot.
Mary's eyes swept over her surroundings. Her gaze latched on to a billboard looming over the street, and her mouth fell open aghast. As if it was mocking them, the cursed thing read in big, bold lettering:
Are you ready for 2020?
Dang it.
The girls are in for a ride! Feel free to review and ask questions, and thanks for reading!
