Hollywood | March 19th 10:22 PST

The Outsiders were just lounging around. Nothing interesting had happened recently, there were a few cases involving meta-teens but things had been so quiet that they had begun frequently joining the Young Justice team on missions.

Ed and Jaime were playing Air hockey, and the girls were in the kitchen talking, while everyone else was draped over one the couches, eyes glued to their phones.

Even the other members of the more secretive side of the team, such as M'gann, Traci, Cissie and the Bats had found themselves at the hub.

Bart himself had tucked his body into a corner of the couch, eyes trailing the puck slide between the sides of the air hockey table with apathetic attention.

It had been like this for days, he really wished that something would happen.

As if the universe had heard his cries, finally the sweet, ringing sound of rescue appeared. Oracle's symbol had popped up on the holo-screen, drawing everyone's attention. Bart sped over to the mission room watching as the others flocked to the glowing screen. Gar swiped and answered the call. Goodbye boredom. Hello mission.

"Hey Oracle what's up?"

The woman went straight into it, tone all business. "Late last night a familiar energy impulse in Taos was recorded by League satellites." She reported.

A map appeared picture-in-picture with Oracle's screen displaying a blinking red dot near Jaramilla Road.

"Energy Impulse?" Bart quirked, earning a confused stare, or an eye roll from most of the room's occupants. Despite his light, intrigued response his heart was hammering. And one single question bounced around his mind. Another time traveler?

"Greatly similar to that of Kid Flash's," she continued, Bart swallowed.

"The Security and CCTV cameras in the area were all knocked out, so I have no visual evidence, though there were reports of a loud noise and someone screaming."

"We need someone to investigate;" yes we really do.

"And seeing as the last time this happened a person appeared, I'd like to be thorough and make sure no one is stranded, or the League's next problem just appeared." Bart bit his lip, it wasn't a bad guy right? It could be someone he may recognize.

"This is strictly an undercover recon mission, all findings are to be reported immediately, understood?"

"Yes ma'am," the team replied.

"Great, I'll send Red Robin all the info needed."

Oracle's call disconnected, leaving Gar to continue giving orders.

Bart locked eyes with Gar, he really needed to be on the squad today, if only to calm his nerves and stop his mind from racing. Gar gave a small nod, and Bart a silent thanks.

"Alright people!" Gar began, "Alpha: Myself, El Duardo, Wonder girl, and Superboy will search for anyone who might have been transported to Taos and see if they're around the area.

Beta: Red Robin, Thirteen, Miss Martian, Cyborg, Kid Flash, you'll investigate the source of the impulse. Leaders are myself and Red Robin respectively."

And with a final look of determination Gar yelled, "Let's head out."

Alpha and Beta both stepped into the whirring light of the zeta tube, letting their molecules be pulled apart and reconstructed by the transport, exiting, and finding themselves in the Meta-Human Youth Center.

The team split into their respective squads and it took all of Bart's dwindling self-control not to speed ahead, yet finally after Tim's seemingly long secondary debrief both squads set out.

Alpha had already gone ahead, directed to possible locations by Miss M and Traci. Beta squad were mulling around the supposed site of the energy impulse.

Traci's hands were planted on the ground glowing a soft pink light, she was likely tapping into the urban magic of the place, to see if there was any activity. Tim had his holo-glove open, scanning the area, Vic doing the same. As well as M'gann scanning mentally for any anomalies.

Bart was supposed to be checking for any possible speed force energy in the area, which there was; which both excited and freaked him out.

For all he knew an evil speedster had just traveled to the past or future, yet he couldn't shake the thought of it being someone he knew. Sure, his timeline no longer existed, and there was nothing worth going back to there, no one anymore, and he was eternally grateful for no longer being a slave under the reach; but there were so many times he would wonder what became of the small circle of people he cared for.

How they were doing in the new future, or if they had even been born, If they got to live with their families again. Grow up in a world where their lives were without the worry of starving, being kidnapped and probed or dragged out to slave over spaceships, and weapons only to die on the job.

Plus he'd be lying if he said he didn't miss them; at least the girls, especially when thinking about his estranged relationship with his cousin, he knows he'd give a lot to see her.

Then again the thought of how both girls ended up sent him somewhere he really didn't want to go.

Thankfully just then, Tim called everyone to the center of the parking lot to report their findings.

Conner froze for a second, his mind seeming far away.

Likely speaking to M'gann then.

"Beta's confirmed that there was residual speed force and magical energy; as well as Zeta and Chronotron radiation in the area."

Cassie gave a sharp grin. While searching for the perps was still slightly mundane, they were still dealing with time travel. Things were bound to get interesting eventually.

They had mostly been wandering around for a while after splitting up with the rest of their mini squad, and had now found themselves in front of an AirBnB which was looking worse for wear. Cassie stood rocking back and forth on her heels as Conner scanned the building. He tilted his head in conformation and they both headed inside.

The small entrance room only held a desk and a few chairs, along with a staircase that likely led to the rooms. They were greeted by a woman at the front desk who's mouth comically fell open when her eyes landed on the symbols emblazoned on their chest.

"Excuse me ma'am,"

Cassie raised an eyebrow and smirked at Conner- the farmboy manners were showing.

He simply gave her a small warning look, and returned to his previous focus.

"By any chance has anyone- suspicious stopped by here?"

"Or have you seen anything weird in general?" Cassie added.

"I-uh, umm- n-no not particularly," She stuttered.

This lady was a horrible liar.

Conner glanced up at the stairs squinting.

"Particularly?"

"Yes."

Cassie folded her arms and frowned.

"And what would that 'particularly' be exactly?"

"I-uh."

The woman sighed, her body deflating with the expel.

"Look, you guys are Outsiders right? You'll be able to take care of them."

"Them?" Cassie questioned.

"The two upstairs right?" Conner said.

The woman looked even more uncomfortable now, but hung her head in defeat.

"Ah- yes."

The woman began the story of how her two guests came about, and while it was plausible something still seemed off .

The woman offered to go get them, and Cassie went along with her.

If they were villains-it would be best to go along. Just in case.

The ladies made their way up the stairs and towards the room. Her guide knocked on the door and a voice called "coming!"

It was younger and less villain-y than she expected.

The door was carefully opened, so as to not allow anyone to see anything other than the frame coming through the door.

A teen with shoulder length ginger hair (that despite its color was surprisingly quite saturated) stepped out. She was of short stature, and had thin limbs that sported some muscle, but that was really it. Her shoulders were hunched in- her fingers twisting together nervously. She sported lightly tanned skin-borderlining a brown tone-and deep blue eyes that seemed to glint with an intelligence that was eerily reminiscent of a few people she knew.

For a quick moment it felt as if she was looking straight at Cassie, and it was as if they were the only two people in the room. As soon as her eyes flitted back to the owner, a small smile was plastered on her face, and all of the supposed intensity dissipated.

Huh.

"Ariah, is everything alright?"

"Oh, yes-yes it's just that the- er, Outsiders are here to see you."

"The Outsiders!" The girl perked, her tone tinged with incredulousness

Cassie stepped forward and gave a small wave "Yep! I'd like to talk to you."

The kid's smile broke out into a grin. Cassie would deny to her dying day that she lightly cooed in her head.

"O-oh, really! Hang on, let me just get my friend," she spun on her heel and slammed the door behind her. The scuffling noise she made penetrated the door- along with a few mournful sounding moans. Looks like her friend wasn't too happy.

After a few more sounds of grumbling and stomping, the girl finally stepped out, her friend's wrist in her grasp.

Despite the fact that the first kid they were friends- her mind immediately went to sisters or cousins. Her skin was also tanned, except the slight golden undertones and face shape suggested she was most likely mixed asian, though it wasn't too noticeable. This one was a young girl and a redhead also- except this time her hair was leaning more towards crimson.

Her hair was mussed from sleep, making it appear like a mane, and she was rubbing at her eyes, though Cassie could make out the slits of green under her tired eyelids. She had noticeable height on the other teen. Except it seemed that was more a testament to how short her friend was than to her own height.

"Ehh, what'd you wake me up for," The girl grumbled, giving her friend an annoyed side glance.

The ginger's face twisted to something of over-dramatic outrage as she waved her hands wildy.

"What do you mean what'd I wake you up for? It's Wondergirl!"

That seemed to wake the girl up. Her eyes snapped open and intently focused on Cassie, though instead of the hero-worship filled gaze she was expecting, the teen seemed more amused than anything, like she was trying not to laugh, or had just witnessed something utterly ridiculous.

Shorter girl sent the other a slightly pointed smile and the lion mane girl's face changed to something expectant.

"So Miss Wondergirl , what can we do for ya?"

Cassie noted the hint of mocking amusement and bit her lip.

Come on Cassie, she's just a kid.

"Superboy and I would just like to have a little chat with you."

At the mention of Superboy something passed across both girls' faces, but it was gone as quickly as it came.

"Ah- sure, no problem," She turned to her companion and tilted her head in question. Her friend gave a small nod in response and they made their way down the stairs, hand in hand.

Conner watched as the women came down the steps, first the owner, then Cassie, and finally two redheaded girls. One of them was hunched over, tiredly rubbing at their eyes, while the other seemed to be holding back a sigh at her companions' behavior.

Conner looked to Cassie who gave a small nod, signaling this was likely who they were looking for.

They were much younger than he expected, probably around the same age as the younger members of the Outsiders, a few years older than Jon.

Conner frowned. What happened to these kids?

"So who do we have here?" He asked.

Both girls smiled. "I'm Irey" "And I'm May."

Nice to meet you, I'm Superboy. Wondergirl and I wanted to ask you some questions. He said, eying the taller redhead's split lip.

The two glanced at each other wearily and nodded.

"Of course," May replied.
