HELLO READERS. WELCOME TO CHAPTER 12 PART 1. TOOK A HELL LOT OF TIME TO UPDATE. APOLOGIES FOR THAT. THANKS FOR READING AND HOPE YOU ENJOYED CHAPTER 11. THANK YOU xmon323 FOR THE FOLLOW! AS USUAL, LEMME REPLY TO THE REVIEWERS:
Lord Gemini: Thanks for the long review :D I'm glad you liked the football challenge, I enjoyed writing it. I can agree I could've tried to resolve the Topher at a later part, the reason was the cast size for this episode.
Aleheatherfan4ever: It's indeed a low blow. Let's see what happens as the story progresses ;)
amit: Thanks for the review mate and you raise some good questions. Yes, I do have plans for cameos. For the first and fourth questions, well you have to read it ;)
BEFORE MOVING ON, MASSIVE THANKS TO Smokin' JJ's aka Janju FROM THE R/TD DISCORD SERVER FOR HELPING ME WITH THE CHALLENGE IDEAS AND THE LOCATIONS. ALSO Bladekiller99, AndreiWarrior AND Bidoferz (Thunder) FOR HELPING TO COME UP WITH THE TEAM NAMES.
AIGHT. WITH THAT, LET'S DIVE IN TO THE STORY.
I DO NOT OWN TOTAL DRAMA OR ANY OF ITS CHARACTERS.
"Finally, Chef let me do the intro." Topher cleared his throat, "Last time on Total Drama Mayhem…
The campers had to go through some electrifying truth or punishment questions, where some did well, while others were shocking. Literally. It revealed many secrets among the cast and helped stir many pots. Alejandro was caught, allegedly, cheating on Heather with Dakota and she instantly dumped him. Sheesh! That's a low blow for the Aleheather fans. Suspicions about Mal arose and Duncan's fondness of Zoey was also revealed. But then after someone, and I prefer to remain nameless, meddled with the W.I.M.P. forcing Chris to abandon the challenge and change to a new one. What else but a soccer challenge. In between all this, Eva and Izzy had a midnight encounter when they saw the guy they've been chasing for a while who Izzy identified to be Mal. Tyler formed an alliance with Trent and Ezekiel trying to strengthen his chances of safety and to boot off Eva. Scott also did something similar by teaming up with Cody and Harold for kicking out Alejandro as a direct swap for Dakota's audio recording. These guys were forming alliances left, right and center. The Soccer challenge was beyond entertaining, with tons of goals and skills with a nice little foiled sabotage attempt by Scott towards the end. Zoey confronted Mike after Izzy told her experience with Mal and he revealed himself to "his girlfriend". The Bulls won the game 4-3 and sent the Tigers to the campfire ceremony. In an interesting ceremony, it was Mike or now, Mal who was eliminated courtesy of the intern idol used by Zoey. They ended up in a mutual break up. Emotional scenes. In another twist, Lightning and Jo caught…. me, running around the forest and Chris was, let's just say struck, with something and is now out of commission for a few weeks. Lightning has joined the cast and we're back to 22 campers. With whom does Courtney want to mend ties with? Wha-"
"Who let him do the intro?! I never told you to do it" Chef shouted, "Boy I told you to sit yo butt down at the mess hall! Now, you're gonna get it!"
Topher looked at Chef running towards him and back at the camera, eyes widened in fear, "Find out today on Total Drama Mayhemmmmm-"
He jumped into the water and started swimming towards the beach.
It was a new day at Camp Wawanakwa. The sun's rays reflected on the serene waters, lighting up the island. All the campers were either in the cabins, the mess hall or in the bathroom, except for one redhead. She was sitting on the dock, looking sadly at the waters below. She looked like she had been crying, her face had dried tears.
She couldn't catch much sleep last night. All she could think about was Mike- Mal rather. Thoughts were flowing through her head like a river and she just couldn't stop it. She let out littles sniffles and sighed sadly.
Just then, she heard footsteps on the dock. Someone was coming towards her but she didn't bother to see who it was. The person sat next to her, letting their legs dangle over the dock. Upon seeing the pink wedges worn by the person, she understood it was- Katie.
"Hey Zo" she called softly.
Zoey looked at her, forcing a smile, "Hey."
"Did you skip breakfast?"
"No" the redhead lied.
Katie smiled knowingly, "I know you skipped. So here, I brought you some." She gave the redhead a plate of scrambled eggs and bread.
Zoey smiled at her, "Thanks Katie, but I'm just not that hungry."
"Yes you are. Now eat" Katie replied.
She took a slice of bread and ate it unwillingly, staring blankly at the horizon.
"He's Mal" the redhead said softly, her tone overflowing with sadness.
Katie sighed, feeling bad for her teammate, "Yes, sadly."
"I've been in a relationship with someone who lived in another one's conscience" she sobbed, "It's like our relationship became too good to be true. All these seasons were a lie... I guess I'm to blame as well. I might've been a reason for all th-"
Katie quickly cut in, "Hey, hey. Don't blame yourself, okay. You fell in love with a great guy. It's not your fault that you didn't know about his actual personality."
Zoey sighed again, "I just hope that Mike rubs off on him and he becomes a better person. You know, Mal with a bit of Mike."
"Well," Katie paused before continuing, "Maybe he already did."
Zoey looked at her doubtfully, "What do you mean?"
Katie turned to face the redhead, "Remember in the elimination ceremony, he gave you the locket and said he couldn't break it; From what I've heard about Mal, I don't think he would have hesitated. That does show a little change, doesn't it?"
She gave it a little thought as a small smile crept to her face, "Maybe, I guess you're right."
"See, now that's good" Katie said happily, trying to lift her spirits.
Zoey tried to lighten herself but couldn't, "It is good. But you know, it hurts. It hurts a lot. Mike was the first guy I fell for and just when you think you found the right guy, everything falls down later."
Katie kept a hand on her shoulder, "As I said a minute back, Mike was a great guy. But you can't always choose the correct one on the first try. I know it's hard for you, but you're a strong girl. Take your time to get over this, no one's rushing you."
This time Zoey let out a genuine, heartfelt smile, "Thanks for the support Katie."
"Of course! We're friends after all" Katie beamed happily as the two girls went in for a hug.
Eva and Duncan watched this exchange from the beach and a little smile crept on their faces.
"Why did you tell Katie to console her? You could've gone" Eva said, her arms crossed.
"I have my reasons." Duncan replied.
Confessional: Duncan
"I wanna help Red through this, but of course if anyone sees me within 100 yards of her, these bastards are gonna cook up some weird shit" he rolled his eyes, annoyed, "So yeah when Katie was going to console her, I gave her some breakfast to give Red." he pointed to the camera, "I'm not soft. I just don't want her to starve, that's all."
End Confessional: Duncan
Most of the campers were in the mess hall, busy with breakfast. Some were waiting in line for their serving while others were chatting and gobbling up their food. The food today wasn't like yesterday's Chef special, aka, not Chris' food. It was some mashed up yellow slop and the usual scrambled eggs.
Harold stood next in line as Trent received his serving from Chef. As the musician walked away with his tray, Tyler cut in front of Harold with his tray.
"Hey!" the ginger exclaimed, "I'm next in line. Go wait in the back."
"I'm starving" Tyler said, "It won't take me more than a minute to get my food. So back off nerd."
Harold narrowed his eyes at the jock, "Do you not have the basic knowledge of how queues work?"
"I have basic knowledge of everything!"
"What's nine plus ten"
"Twenty one" the jock replied confidently, before going through it in his head again, "-no wait! I meant 90! Uhh- did you say times or plus?!"
Harold smirked, "You're just embarrassing yourself."
"No one cares! You might be better than me at math but I'm better than you in everything else. You're just afraid you'll lose to me, that's why you use math against me" Tyler debated confidently.
Harold narrowed his eyes in annoyance, "Me, afraid of you? Pffft. You wish I was. You're jealous and crying over all the skills I possess that you can't even dream of having."
Tyler also started to get annoyed, "I have nothing to be jealous of. We'll see who'll be crying when I kick you out of the competition today! You're going down."
"Challenge accepted. Unlike your team, my team values my contributions. So I will not be eliminated even if we lose" Harold said, crossing his arms.
Tyler clenched his fists and held it up at the ginger geek, "We'll see about that."
"Uh guys" Justin called.
"What?" Tyler and Harold turned to look at the model.
"You're the last ones in line," he replied.
Both of them looked at each other, confused, before turning around and seeing no one behind them.
"When did you guys cross- that's not how queues work" Harold said.
Trent took his serving from Chef, walking to Justin, "You two weren't stopping anytime soon. So we all jumped the line. Nothing wrong there."
"That's all because of you" Tyler continued arguing, "You just had to stop me."
"Oh shut up." Harold rolled his eyes as he went forward to get his food.
Confessional: Justin
"Harold and Tyler fighting? I thought they were tight" he scratched his chin, "About time I started doing something for my safety. Maybe I can use this to strengthen my position. You don't always get beauty and brains in one package you know" he gave out his signature smile to the camera.
End Confessional: Justin
Trent and Justin chuckled before walking to their seats. On the way, the musician stopped by Gwen's seat and gave her a tray of food.
"Here you go."
Gwen smiled, "Thanks Trent."
"No problem" he winked before sitting in between her and Justin, opposite Izzy and Dakota in the furthermost free seats, "Morning ladies."
They greeted him back. Izzy smiled at Trent and sneered seeing the model.
"Justin."
"Izzy."
The tone of the short exchange was very tense. Trent and Dakota shot a confused look at each other.
"Am I missing something here?" Dakota asked.
"Nothing- is what I'd have said if I was a liar" Izzy replied, spewing out the final word.
"How long has it been, just get over it already" Justin said, looking annoyed.
"Oh you think I keep you in my head even now?" Izzy laughed sarcastically, "I was over you since the day you were caught. I just don't like you now. And besides I have my Big O. He might not be in shape but his heart's as big as him."
"We both knew things weren't working out. Oh and you were dangerous to my modelling career" he elaborated, "I got a nasty dose of your crazy hits and one of the marks made me lose an event."
"So instead of talking to me about it you go and-" Izzy shouted but was interrupted by the model.
"I don't wanna talk about this anymore. I'm sitting somewhere else" he got up from his seat and joined Tyler.
Trent, Gwen and Dakota looked in complete bewilderment at Izzy.
Gwen looked at Izzy, "What the heck just happened"
Izzy ate a spoonful of her food, "Let's just say that Justin and I had a past, which I hate."
Trent understood what she was saying, "Oh right. You two used to be dating, he told me when we were together in the Drama Brothers."
"Wait what?!" Gwen and Dakota exclaimed.
"Yeah not a lot of people know about it" Izzy replied, "He's one of the biggest jerks I've known. A liar. I can't stand liars!"
Dakota looked worried on hearing Izzy calling him a liar. Uncertainty was painted on her face.
"Sorry you had to go through that Izz" Gwen said.
"How big a liar is he?" the blonde asked.
Izzy looked at Dakota, "Big. Huge. Immense. Colossal. Mammoth. Never trust him with anything." she warned.
Confessional: Dakota
"Never trust him with anything?" she shot a worried look at the camera, rubbing her arm nervously, "I hope I didn't make a mistake. That'll turn out to be costly. Justin please, we're friends."
End Confessional: Dakota
Chef stood at the dock, holding Chris' phone close to his ear with one hand and looking through binoculars at the distant ocean. Topher saw him and walked towards the dock.
"Hey Chef, what are you looking at?"
Chef continued scanning the ocean, "He should be here any minute."
Topher raised an eyebrow, "Who?"
"Who else, the new host."
"New host?!" Topher experienced a rush of emotions, mostly of shock and anger, "B-but I'm right here! Why do they have to bring in a new host? This face was made to be the star host. This is beyond insulting! How the heck did they manage to find a new host this quickly?! It doesn't make sense!"
Chef looked at him, "Boy, you trippin'. You weren't even considered for the job."
Topher's eyes widened, "What the- I don't believe it. They were ready to make me the host for an idea I pitched. There's no way that they didn't consider me."
"Ayo, I'm just saying what the producers told me on the phone" Chef replied, "But then, after what you did to McLean, it's justified that you ain't even considered."
"If I wasn't considered, then who was supposed to be the second choice then? 'Cause I see no one else who could fill that spot."
"Hehe, you're looking at the second choice" Chef smiled smugly.
"Huh?!" the Chris wannabe was astonished, "You've never hosted anything in your life!"
Chef was becoming irritated, "Boy, I've hosted some episodes and they happen to be some of the best ones we've made. You don't know what I can do. So put a sock in it!" he shouted with a clenched fist at his face.
Topher was intimidated, "Alright." he paused before speaking in a low tone, "Just one last question?"
Chef rolled his eyes, "Spill."
"Who's the new host?"
Suddenly they heard a horn from a distance. Chef used his binoculars to find the source and saw a speedboat approaching them.
"You'll find out now."
The speedboat quickly approached the dock of shame and drifted to an abrupt stop next to the dock, thereby sending a huge splash on Chef and Topher.
"MY HAIR!" Topher screamed, "Great entrance, new host." he spat the last two words.
On taking off the helmet, a fit, brown haired, black eyed man was revealed who looked like he was in his forties. He wore a dark olive suit over a white shirt, navy blue pants and brown brogues.
"Of course it's a great entrance. And the hair- well you always gotta be prepared in showbiz. That's what the helmet's for. Protects my beautiful hair" he shot a sparkling smile at the camera, "Anyway, hello fellas. The name's Donovan McGurrin. You can call me Don." he extended a hand towards Chef.
Chef wrung the water out of his hat and accepted the handshake, "Hatchet. You can call me Chef."
"Of course, the whole of Canada knows you. You're the star Chef Hatchet. Pleased to meet you."
Confessional: Chef Hatchet
"Finally gettin' some respect around here."
End Confessional: Chef Hatchet
Don glanced at Topher trying to dry his hair and then back at Chef, "So, is this the kid that poisoned Chris?"
Chef nodded, "That's the one."
"Hey kid," Don called, catching his attention, "I don't know what went through your head, but you might've just ruined all your chances of getting call ups for any role, let alone hosting."
Topher looked down sadly, "Chris locked me in a crate just so he could tell the producers that I backed off from my hosting role and-"
Don cut in, "I know the story, but instead of attacking him, you could've contacted the producers."
"How do I contact them without a phone or anything?!"
"He's got a point there" Chef told Don.
Don shrugged, "Well then, you could've just done nothing. It would've at least saved your career."
"I realize now. It was all the anger I had towards him and, yeah..." Topher looked down, before looking at Don, "Anyway, how did the producers hire you so quickly? It takes time for all those contract agreements, meetings and all that."
Don smirked, "All the procedures were long done."
Topher was confused, "Huh?"
Confessional: Don
Looking around the inside of the confessional, "So this is the iconic outhouse confessional. Not very clean, but it does the job" he said, swatting a fly buzzing around him. "I was already given a contract for a second Ridonculous Race season a couple of months back. It's planned to happen after TDM. Anyway, McLean had an award ceremony to attend next week and the producers gave him two weeks off after he requested them. That's why I filled in for him. So, I was supposed to arrive at the island now anyway, even if Chris wasn't unfortunately attacked. Topher and Chef don't know that." He looked at the camera, "Also it's a little test run of RR season 2." he winked. "Oh and if you're thinking about the effigy challenge, yeah that was supposed to be a foreshadowing of my arrival. So buckle up!"
End Confessional: Don
"Alright, leave that. Let's go ahead with this season!" Don exclaimed enthusiastically.
"But, you didn't answer my ques-"
"I don't need to tell you anything. I've been given the job and I'm doing it" Don asserted, "Now let's drop that." he then glanced at Chef, "Chef could you call out the campers and tell them to meet us here?"
Chef nodded and a minute later his voice echoed around the camp through the loudspeakers.
"MAGGOTS! Get your butts at the beach in 0900 hours! Which is in 10 MINUTES! If you're late, get ready to drop down and give me 50!"
Everyone arrived at the beach five minutes earlier, including all the squirrels and birds who lined up in single file. Chef looked at the campers with his arms crossed. Then, he looked down at the squirrels and birds.
"Did I tell you to come to the beach?!" he shouted at them "Cuz I don't remember calling you here. Now get back to your cribs!"
The little beings quickly dispersed, terrified by Chef.
"You didn't have to shout at those sweet little creatures," Dawn said.
"I do whatever I want. Heard that creepy girl" Chef warned.
Dawn was about to reply back before Lightning nudged her arm.
"Ayo girl, believe me it ain't gonna be good if you try to fight him. Better step down now."
"Agreed. Thanks" Dawn nodded.
Confessional: Lightning
"I know how people like Chef work. My Pops is just like him. If you try to argue with him, he ain't gonna like it. I've dropped down and done 50 many times after tryin' to argue. But, that's one of the reasons why the Lightning is the champion now. Sha-bam!" he posed, flexing his biceps
End Confessional: Lightning
Don came up in front of the campers and stood next to Chef.
"Hello campers. I'm your new host, Don. Glad to meet all of you."
"So which one of your parents is to blame for giving you a girl's name?" Scott mocked.
The new host rolled his eyes, "It's D-O-N, Don. There aren't that many people with D-A-W-N, Dawn."
"We literally have one here," Courtney replied, gesturing to Dawn. Don took a few moments to realize.
"Oh right." he turned to Dawn, "Sorry. My bad."
"It's okay" the moonchild smiled.
He scanned the campers and stopped on seeing Noah.
"What's up Noah. Hey, where's the big guy?"
"Hey Don. He got eliminated a few episodes back."
"Ah that's a shame," the new host looked a little disheartened.
"I'm pretty sure Owen was framed. Cuz there's no way he would get a majority vote for no reason" Gwen elaborated.
"Owen was framed?" Duncan asked in disbelief, "Can't believe one of you bastards even tried that" he glared at the Bulls.
Scott looked a bit guilty at that statement. Something that out of everyone else, Justin caught.
"While it is sad that he's gone, we have to move on." Don said before clapping his hands to get the campers' attention, "So, we'll be moving away from the island for a while. Your challenges for the coming days or weeks are gonna be around the world!"
"WOOHOO! Another World Tour!" Tyler cheered as the others joined in.
"Glad to see the enthusiasm" Don smiled, "But it's not like the World Tour season most of you guys were on. This is the 'Ridonculous Race: The Race of Mayhem'" he shot his signature, sparkling white smile at the camera.
"So each of us will be in teams of two?" Bridgette asked.
"Precisely" Don replied, "Let me run through the basics. The 22 of you will be grouped into 11 pairs. You will race across different locations and compete in unique challenges along with your teammate. In each race there will be a starting point and a chill zone, which is the finishing point. The team that reaches last at the chill zone may be cut from the race."
Katie raised her hand to ask a question, "Um, does that mean we'll be eliminated from the race or the season as a whole?"
"Both." Don replied, "The team that comes last won't compete in this season again. Even if Chris is back and we return back to the island; which I don't know the probability of."
"So if we get a bad partner then..." Alejandro trailed off, expecting Don to complete it.
Don smirked, "You'll have a ton of work to do to stay afloat."
Confessional: Alejandro
"I'm a lucky one in many aspects. The brains, the hair, the looks, strategizing, manipulation, athletic ability and much more" he said smiling at the camera, "But if there's one thing where luck hasn't been on my side, it's when I'm assigned a team to work with. I was always paired up with the idiot or the slacker of the class. This time around and maybe in the All Star season were a bit better, but we still were the lesser of the two teams. I'll probably end up with a Noah or Ezekiel." he facepalmed.
End Confessional: Alejandro
"With that put aside, let's move on to our teams" the new host announced.
"The Lightning doesn't need a team. He's a 3 man unit. Ain't that right Thunder and Storm." he kissed both his biceps, "Did you see the weather forecast? It says Thunderstorm with a hell lotta Sha-Lightning!"
Eva, Scott and Gwen facepalmed while most others just shook their heads.
"Oh-kayy…. Moving on." Don said, before gesturing to a screen which was on a stand with wheels pushed by Zack, "I've paired up the 22 of you with a team name which will be displayed on this screen. Understood?"
The campers nodded.
"Alright then. Let's find out what the teams are. Chef, could you do the honors?"
Chef was holding a remote with a red button, "Gladly."
He pressed the button and suddenly a loud explosion was heard from a distance on the island.
Chef looked at the remote closely. "Oh sorry. Wrong remote" he said before taking another remote from his pocket.
"Wrong remo- What remote is that then, a land mine's?" Noah questioned.
Chef nodded, "Actually, yeah."
Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief and shock.
"What the heck?" Duncan exclaimed.
"You tryna kill us man?" DJ added, his hands on his head.
Chef shrugged, "Meh, you've been through worse." he pressed the button on the second remote which started up the screen.
The teams were shown on screen:
Teams
Duncan & Alejandro - Bromigos
Trent & Gwen - Best Friends
Zoey & Bridgette - Team Heartbroken
Heather & Dawn - Opposites
DJ & Lightning - The Football Dudes
Zeke & Izzy - Team Z
Courtney & Eva - Brain & Brawn
Justin & Scott - Beauty & the Beast
Tyler & Harold - Enemies
Cody & Noah - Noco
Dakota & Katie - The Fashionistas
Confessional: Alejandro
"I stand corrected," he smiled, "Finally a worthy teammate. Duncan's obviously a good player, but only one problem- His injury that I caused. It's not a major one. He looks a lot better today. But I must make sure that I'm not the cause of my own downfall."
End Confessional: Alejandro
Confessional: Gwen
"Of course it's Trent" she massaged her forehead, "Yeah we patched up as friends again and it's going great and all. But, I don't know. I missed him." she closed her eyes and rubbed her arm nervously. "The old Trent and Gwen."
End Confessional: Gwen
Don looked at the screen and then back at the campers, "Happy with your teams?"
"No." Noah said immediately, "I'm fine with my teammate but not the name. Noco? Really?"
"Hey you two are a popular pairing amongst the fans" Don replied.
"I kissed him on the ear once in my sleep" he looked at the camera, "It was an accident people."
"Besides, both of us have girlfriends" Cody added, "I mean, I've no problem with people seeing us as a good pair. But no, we're not attracted to each other in any way."
"I agree with that" Noah replied.
"It's common in reality TV for fans to pair up two of their favorites from the show" Eva elaborated.
This earned her a few looks of disbelief from the others.
She shrugged, "Yeah, I watch some reality shows too. Got a problem with that?" she glared at them.
"No problems, but it just feels weird that you watch them" Courtney replied.
"We're paired up. You wanna start on a bumpy patch huh" Eva asked, crossing her arms.
"I'm just saying what's on my mind" Courtney smirked.
"Oh hell yeah! I got DJ" Lightning cheered, "And you play football?"
DJ smiled, "Yeah. I played as a linebacker."
"That's sick! We're gonna steamroll the other teams!"
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves brother. We'll do our best for sure" DJ said.
"We're gunning for that gold every time man."
"Oh yeah for sure" DJ said enthusiastically.
Bridgette looked for her name. She was happy to see her paired with Zoey but frowned on seeing the team name.
"Team Heartbroken?" she narrowed her eyes, "C'mon couldn't you have given us a positive team name."
"Yeah, even I don't like the name." Zoey added.
"Sorry girls. Most of the names are based on similarities between two people. And both of you went through a break up this season" Don explained.
"Add Heather into the mix and make it a trio" Scott mocked but no one else joined him. Alejandro rolled his eyes while Heather glared at the ginger.
Courtney punched him on the arm, "Shut up Scott."
"Ow! Ok fine." he rubbed his arm, "Also, Beauty and the Beast? Why is Justin a beast?"
"It's quite obvious that you're the beast" Justin replied.
Scott raised an eyebrow before looking at Don, who nodded. "What the fuck?! Nah man, I'm not having that! Change it."
"I wasn't going to let anyone change the team name but this one was all I got for you two, and I'll admit it isn't the best one. Well if your teammate also agrees for a change, then we'll do it" Don replied.
"Nah, I'm happy with it" Justin smirked.
"Oh fuck you Justin."
"I mean, who wouldn't?" the model smiled.
Confessional: Scott
"Stupid Justin" she crossed his arms, "But I like his subtle deviousness. Maybe I can work something with him."
End Confessional: Scott
"Why am I with him?" Tyler and Harold complained simultaneously.
"STOP COPYING MY SENTENCES!" They did it again.
Don rolled his eyes, "The team name should be clear, you two have been fighting for a while. So yeah." he paused, "Anyway, I'm just gonna go ahead now the teams are decided."
He walked to the dock of shame where there was a Don box with a red button on top.
"This is the Don Box, which the racers will find as they go through each challenge. Grab a travel tip from each Don Box to know your next challenge and destination."
He walked back to the contestants.
"Before we start the race, my intro. Close up please!"
The shot zoomed in on the new host.
"This is Camp Wawanakwa. Somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario. Birthplace of Total Drama where the Sasquatchanakwa roams free. Beside my manly size-13 brogues, eleven teams will embark on a race across the globe. I'm your new host, Don. And this is, The Ridonculous Race: The Race of Mayhem!" he shot a sparkling smile to the camera before turning to the contestants, "Racers, are you ready?"
"YES!" They shouted enthusiastically.
"That's what I like to hear." he smiled, "On your mark… Get set… GOOO!" he sounded an air horn simultaneously as the racers dashed to the Don Box.
The Football Dudes, Lightning and DJ were first to reach. Lightning pressed the red button on the Don Box and grabbed the travel trip.
"We're going to Bay- uh B-Bei-"
DJ looked confused, "Give me that" as he took the tip from the jock, "We're going to Beirut."
Cuts to Don whose background showed the flag of Lebanon and sights of Beirut.
"Beirut, the capital and the largest city of Lebanon. Known as the Paris of the Middle East, it exudes the charm of the French capital. A place that showcases many marvels of history and is well known for their delicious food and really good looking people. Maybe I have ancestors from Lebanon. Anyways, the contestants will speedboat from this island to the Muskoka airport. Where they will board a 20 hour flight to Beirut International Airport. Once there, take a taxi to the Corniche El Nahr to find the next Don Box."
"So uh, where are the speedboats?" DJ asked.
The interns came in 4 medium sized ships, pulling the speedboats which were tied to the back with ropes.
"Woah that's awesome eh!" Ezekiel marvelled at the speedboats.
The interns cut the ropes and the contestants hopped onto their boats.
"This is gonna be great!" Zoey said excitedly.
As the teams rode away in the speedboats, a yacht was seen coming towards the dock. It was the same yacht as seen in the first episode of the fourth season on which the original cast had a party. It stopped by the dock and a flight of stairs popped out as an entrance.
Don boarded the yacht before looking back, "Chef, why don't you join me."
"Huh?" He looked puzzled, "For real?"
"Yeah. A little vacation for you. You'll join us wherever we go and enjoy your time. So hop in, big guy."
Chef looked around, trying to decide whether to join in or not, "But what about Chris?"
"We've got everything covered. Medical staff have been called to come to the island. And besides, the interns will be here to take care of him." Don explained.
"Are you sure Chris will be fine?" Chef asked, looking concerned.
"I assure you everything has been arranged." Don smiled, "Oh and by the way you get a triple paycheck if you join."
"Triple Paycheck?!"
"Yep. So what are you saying, jumping in or saying bye-bye?"
"Say bye-bye, You kiddin' me? Jumpin' in of course. You took care of Chris already. Ayo you're the best. You givin' me a triple paycheck and a vacation!" he exclaimed excitedly as he hopped into the yacht.
"Hey! What about me?" Topher asked.
"You're staying here kid. You actually think after what you did, you're getting another chance?" Don chuckled, "The producers have decided that you and the interns along with the medical staff will take care of Chris until he recovers."
"B-but that's not fair" Topher debated.
"All is fair. And yeah if you want to get another chance with the producers, then listening to them might be your only way."
The Chris wannabe sighed, his shoulders slumped and looked at the ground, regretting what he had done.
"Anyway, we move on with the season. Let's get this yacht moving!" Don shouted to the captain of the yacht, who nodded and pulled away from the dock.
DJ and Lightning entered Muskoka airport. They looked around and saw no other team.
"Oh hell yeah we're first" DJ exclaimed, fistbumping his teammate.
"I didn't expect you to be this fast man. You almost beat the Lightning."
DJ smiled, "I train to be faster. I might've come close to beating you. But I'll remain there, I won't be able to cross you cuz you got that extra stamina."
"Can't deny that. I'm always a difficult challenge" he flexed his biceps.
"Agreed. Anyway, let's book our tickets." DJ said.
**Don voiceover**
"The first 6 teams who book their tickets will board flight one, which will leave once it's full. The other 5 teams will board flight two, which will depart an hour after the first."
**Don Voiceover**
As more teams arrived at the airport, some were having trouble running. The Bromigos were trailing behind the pack. They were running towards the airport after the speedboat ride. But they were slow because of Duncan's injury from the soccer challenge. The ex-prisoner was limping a bit while trying to run.
Alejandro, who was quite a few yards ahead of Duncan, turned back to look at him, "C'mon Duncan! Pick up the pace! We're gonna be cut from the race if we go on like this."
"Oh shut up man! My calves won't let me stretch fully."
Team Interview: Bromigos
"Ok, I might've been wrong about my luck changing for a good teammate." Alejandro said, looking at the camera.
Duncan crossed his arms, "Aight Burro, you caused this" he pointed to his calf. "Could've avoided it, if you had let me score in the last challenge. So yeah, deal with it."
"And what, let myself get eliminated?" Alejandro narrowed his eyes.
Duncan shrugged, "Yeah exactly."
"No chance Bromigo"
End Team Interview: Bromigos
Alejandro rolled his eyes before running to his teammate.
"Well then there's only one thing we can do then."
Duncan raised an eyebrow before the Spaniard bent down in front of him, lifted him, carried him over his shoulder and continued running.
The ex-prisoner looked around in disbelief before keeping a hand on his face in embarrassment.
"The fuck are you doing man?!"
"I need you to be in the game long enough. So we need to work together. More now than any other time. If one of us slacks, both of us go down" Alejandro explained.
"Ok but you don't have to carry me. Especially like this" Duncan exclaimed.
"Bromigo, your injury is a handicap for us. This is the only way to not slow us down."
Duncan groaned as he facepalmed, "This looks so wrong."
"Let the people perceive this however they like. Our aim is to win this."
Duncan groaned once again as the pair continued the run to the airport. In about 15 minutes, they reached their destination.
Alejandro looked around and saw most of the teams already with their tickets and running to the gate of their flight.
"Mierda! We're in last place!"
Suddenly they heard a voice shouting from behind them.
"WE'RE IN LAST PLACE THANKS TO YOU!"
Alejandro shrugged and smiled, "I stand corrected."
Eva and Courtney came running to the entrance, the former shouting at the latter, behind the Bromigos.
Team Interview: Team Brain & Brawn
They were sitting with their arms crossed annoyed at each other
"What are you shouting at me for? Blame that compass we had" Courtney exclaimed, "Whichever person made that thing had its markings wrong. We had to go North and it pointed to the South, so I followed it."
Eva narrowed her eyes, "Oh please, we saw all the others going in one direction and instead of following them, you go to the opposite side."
"Whatever, we're on track now, that's all that matters" Courtney said.
"Yeah, thanks to me. If I didn't take control, we'd be lost in sea" Eva debated.
"Fine, you win." the brunette said, "For now."
"We really gotta get some coordination," Eva said.
"Yeah" Courtney nodded.
End Tea Interview: Team Brain & Brawn
The two teams went and stood in line at the ticket counter. When the brunette saw Alejandro letting go of Duncan off his shoulders, she smirked.
"You know, this is better. The two cheaters are in a relationship."
Duncan rolled his eyes, groaning "First of all, no. Two, get over it already. It's been freakin' 2 years."
Courtney looked angry, "You weren't the one cheated on. You'll never understand the pain I went through."
Duncan narrowed his eyes, "Do you know how big of a demanding windbag you became. I voted you out after I couldn't take it anymore."
When Courtney fell silent, Duncan smirked at her.
"What? Don't have anything else to argue?"
She looked him in the eye, "I could prove you wrong easily. But I don't want to. I want to move on from that."
Duncan was very confused, "You don't want to?"
Individual Confessional: Duncan
He had his arms crossed still looking confused, "I've been with Courtney long enough to know her. The girl never goes down without a fight- especially against me. And that was barely a squabble." he scratched the back of his head, "Either she's planning something to get me later or she's feeling… bad about what happened?" he thought about it before shaking his head, "Nah, she's definitely up to something."
End Individual Confessional: Duncan
Alejandro and Eva looked at each other awkwardly as they watched the exchange between their respective teammates. The Spaniard then cut in.
"Bromigo, that doesn't mean you had to cheat on her."
The statement earned him a stern glare from Duncan.
"While that is correct" Courtney started, before crossing her arms, "I don't want to hear it from you. You're this season's cheater. Better change your team name to that."
Alejandro looked annoyed, "I did not cheat on Heather. All of it was a cunning plan by Scott and Dakota to frame me."
"Excuses and fake explanations. They all say that" Eva stated, before gesturing to the clerk who was holding out the Bromigos' tickets, "Now either take your tickets or get the heck outta the line."
Duncan and Alejandro grabbed their tickets and broke out of the line, running towards their respective gate. Courtney watched them run with a sad look.
As the clerk processed their tickets, Eva shot a questioning glance at her.
"Hey, you okay?"
"Yeah I guess." the brunette replied, sounding unsure.
Eva wasn't convinced. "If something's bothering you, I need you to throw it outta your brain now."
Courtney nodded before smiling confidently, "Don't worry. It's not gonna bother me the slightest in the game."
"I like that attitude. Now, let's win this." the athlete said as she took the tickets, "By the way, I'm taking the window seat."
Courtney raised an eyebrow, "And who let you decide?"
"I don't need anyone's permission. And I'm taking the window seat. End of story."
"Except the story didn't end." Courtney debated, "I want that window."
Eva started to get impatient, "If you need the window seat, then you have to earn it."
"Deal."
They raised their fists at each other and looked intently as if they were about to throw punches at each other. The clerk's eyes widened on seeing the possible altercation. He slowly reached out for the phone on his table to call security.
"Hello security…."
Eva and Courtney threw their fists forward as the former made a scissor with her hand and the latter made a paper.
The clerk sighed, "Never mind. False alarm."
"Ha! I win! Window seat is mine."
Eva grunted as she unwillingly gave the ticket to her teammate, "Fine."
Don was at the airport, standing on the runway. Just then a plane was seen taking off behind him.
"Flight number one has taken off with the first six teams- The Football Dudes, Beauty & the Beast, Noco, Team Brokenhearted, The Best Friends and Team Z. The last 5 teams will have to wait for an hour for their flight. Who will reach the chill zone first? And who will be eliminated? Stay tuned, cuz it's gonna get tight. This is the Ridonculous Race: The Race of Mayhem!"
At the gate, the last five teams were in the waiting area, waiting for the announcement for boarding the flight. Duncan was vibing to music with headphones on, Tyler had gone to the bathroom while Harold looked out the window watching the planes take off. Heather stood in front of the vending machine at one corner of the waiting area. She inserted two coins and punched in the code for a can of iced tea. Unfortunately, the can got stuck in between, thus not falling below into the collection box.
She got annoyed and kicked the machine many times, but still no luck. "Stupid machine! Just drop it down, it's not hard. UGH!"
Alejandro walked to the vending machine, looking amused at her. He took two coins from his wallet as Heather looked away from him.
"I'll help you with that. I need some iced tea as well."
Heather raised an eyebrow, "You never liked iced tea."
The Spaniard shrugged, "It's not my go-to, but I'm fine with it."
He punched in the code and the can pushed the one stuck and both fell into the collection box. The Spaniard bent down and took it, before offering one to Heather.
"Here you go mi amor." he smiled.
Heather was about to reluctantly accept a can, before a voice was heard behind Alejandro. It belonged to Dakota.
"Alejandro, I told you you didn't have to buy it for me" she said, taking the can from his hand, "But thanks, you're really sweet."
"Now the drink makes sense" Heather gritted her teeth, trying to control her anger.
She gave him a kiss on the cheek before turning away to return to her seat.
"Heather, you take this can I-"
She looked at the can before flipping her hair behind, "Who told you to help me. I don't want the drink anymore, just take it."
Alejandro frowned as Heather started walking away. She stopped midway before glancing behind, "And remember, it's ex amor." with that she went back to her seat, leaving Alejandro as he heaved a heavy sigh.
Individual Confessional: Heather
"That little blonde bitch. She's gonna pay big time. Something's going on with her. From what I've heard she wasn't like this in her season" she grunted, and paused as she went in thought. A few seconds later, it struck her, "Wait a minute. Cody! I've seen him talk about her before. Maybe I can do something with him."
End Individual Confessional: Heather
Courtney was reading a book while Eva was listening to music on her Epod. Dawn was sitting beside them, looking around the waiting area. She nudged Courtney's shoulder.
"May I know which book you are reading?"
Courtney looked at her, placing a pencil-shaped bookmark on the page, "Sure. It's 'The Gavel of Justice'. By-"
Dawn cut in, "Daniella Martins correct?"
Courtney looked surprised, "Oh. You know her?"
"Of course I know her. She writes some brilliant novels." Dawn replied.
"Well, this was a surprise."
Dawn raised an eyebrow, "What is?"
"You reading mystery novels. I thought you would be an avid reader of psychology or fantasy." the brunette explained.
The moonchild smiled, "Well yes, I do enjoy them. But mystery novels also intrigue me a lot and I do enjoy the suspense while reading."
"That's great. Daniella Martins is one of the best at this genre." Courtney commented. "I like what she's done with the secondary plotline of Mia and Jacob's relationship. She really wants to talk to him."
"But she's afraid to do so." Dawn finished, to which Courtney nodded. After a short pause she continued, "Similar to how you have been feeling recently."
Courtney was taken aback, "Um… well, kinda I guess. I wanted to get back to you on that after the question in the last challenge. How did you know?"
"You were sitting conflicted with yourself and constantly glanced at him. I thought you wanted to mend ties with him, that was only a guess I had. And looks like it was correct" Dawn elaborated.
"You were really on target" Courtney said, "But what do you think I should do? I don't think he'll listen to me even if I tried."
"I can't tell you what to do my friend. As it ultimately depends on how both of you manage at the time." the blonde explained, "But make sure you listen to each other. I hope that will make things smooth."
Courtney nodded, "I'll give it a try. Thanks."
"Happy to help."
"Have you read Part 3 of the book? I have it with me" Courtney offered.
"If you could let me have a read, that would be great" Dawn said, her interest increasing.
"Of course." She took the book from her backpack and gave it to the moonchild.
"Thanks a lot!"
A while later, the boarding announcement was heard and the teams lined up to hop on to their flight.
Don stood outside the airport next to a Don Box, wearing the signature smile on his face.
"Flight 1 has landed at the Beirut International airport and the teams are making their way to this Don Box, right outside the airport's exit, where they'll get the next travel tip regarding today's challenge."
As he completed his sentence, all 6 teams barged out of the airport quickly. The Best Friends- Trent and Gwen- was the first team to grab the travel tip.
Trent started reading aloud, "Catch a taxi to Corniche El Nahr, where there's a particular type of Don Box that on pressing the button, dispenses a Lebanese coin. Take a 1 Lira coin and run to a local souvenir shop owner, Nabeel, who's shop is about 500 metres away from the Don Box. Give him the coin and he will ask you to translate an Arabic word" "Arabic? Damn. You know anything about it?" Gwen asked.
"I know it's a language. That's about it" Trent replied.
She groaned. "Well this is gonna be a long day."
"The Arabic word is of a symbol which is of great importance to Lebanon. If you translate it correctly, Nabeel will give you the next travel tip. Else, the pair has to run back to the Don Box, take another coin and try again." Don explained, "Also remember, you can only take one coin each time."
"So we're giving money to this Nabeel guy. Why?" Noah asked.
"His business hasn't been great. We figured that this challenge can help him" Don explained.
"That's a nice idea" Bridgette smiled, as the rest nodded.
"Alright teams, off you go!"
The teams nodded as they ran forward to the taxi stand, hopped into the vehicle and rode off.
Team Z, Izzy and Ezekiel, got into the back seat of their taxi.
"Driver take us to Corniche El Nahr please" Izzy said to the driver.
The driver glanced behind with a confused look.
"ماذا" (means: "What?")
"Oh no, he doesn't know English. What do we d-"
Izzy was cut off by Ezekiel who started talking in Arabic fluently with the driver. The driver smiled and nodded as he started the vehicle and started driving to their destination.
Izzy looked impressed, "You know Arabic?"
The prairie boy nodded, "I know 8 languages eh. English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi and Japanese."
"That's 7 right?"
Ezekiel slumped, "The last one is not really a speaking language. May come out as a bit strange." he paused for a second, "It's sign language."
"Woah. That is impressive" Izzy complimented, "You think it's strange? I know the Camel language."
Ezekiel raised an eyebrow, "That's… interesting."
"Totally! Gotta talk to my camel back in Egypt. Anyway, how do you know sign language and who taught you?" she asked curiously.
"Well, my grandfather is hearing impaired. So both of us "talk" in sign language. It's easy for him as well eh" Ezekiel elaborated, "My dad taught it cuz even he talks with grandpa in sign language."
"That is so cool!" Izzy exclaimed, looking impressed, "Your homeschooling sounds better than actual schools. Y'know, except for the not meeting people and friends part."
"Yeah, my mom and dad know a lot of things eh. And they taught me and my brother well. We do have fun" Ezekiel said, his thoughts going into those times, "We do everything together. They're great parents and I couldn't ask for a better big brother."
Izzy looked at him and smiled, "Must be great." her face changed and looked a bit uneasy
He glanced at Izzy and saw her expression, "You okay?" he asked.
She sighed, "Yeah, it's just been a while since I've spent time with my family."
"Oh. Any problems?" he asked.
"Nah. We became a lot less of a family after my brother Jason went to juvie. Ever since then, our home became a house. There was nothing going on, silent and just boring. I can't put myself in a room for a long time. That's probably why I become all crazy whenever I get outta the house" she chuckled, before taking a long pause. "I miss them and my bro. I haven't seen him in years."
Ezekiel listened patiently, paying attention to every word she said.
"Where are they now?"
"England on holiday. Spending all the time they lost with Jason. He needs it" she smiled, "Hopefully we'll get back to our old happy selves after their trip."
He nodded, smiling sincerely, "I'm sure it will eh."
"Thanks for listening," Izzy said, "You're a good guy."
His eyes sparkled with joy, "We're friends?"
"Of course we are!" They high fived, "Now enough of this emotional crap, let's go win this!" She exclaimed in excitement
Individual Confessional: Ezekiel
"I MADE FRIENDS! Cody, Harold and Tyler made me one of their gaming buddies, Noah said I'm getting better at socializing, Geoff told me he'd invite me whenever he throws a party and now Izzy said we're friends!" he exclaimed happily, pumping his fists in the air, "I wish I could help her though."
End Individual Confessional: Ezekiel
The breeze picked up in Beirut and tiny waves formed in the waters of the Corniche just as 4 taxis arrived at the Corniche El Nahr. The Football Dudes, Brokenhearted, Noco and the Best Friends.
Team Brokenhearted, Bridgette and Zoey, were the first ones to find the Don Box. They tapped the button and out came a one Lira coin, instead of a travel tip.
"Let's go" Zoey said as they ran to the souvenir shop.
As they were running, a few seconds later the Football Dudes, Lightning and DJ, passed by them thus taking the lead.
The Athletic Overachiever looked behind while still running, with a mocking smile on his face.
"Hah! The Lightning takes the lead as always. See you at the finish line, losers!" he exclaimed, laughing in mockery. DJ, on the other hand, mouthed a 'sorry' to the blonde and the redhead on behalf of his teammate.
"Lightning really knows how to wind anyone up huh" Bridgette said.
Zoey nodded, "Yeah. Most jocks know how to. One of the reasons I'm not a fan of them."
Bridgette smiled, "I can see what you're trying to say. But I think in his case, he's not really trying to wind us up. Just that he takes everything as a competition."
"Maybe, I don't know" Zoey replied, a little shaky in her tone, as they went into awkward silence.
The blonde raised an eyebrow, "You okay? A bit hard holding up?"
The redhead sighed, "Kinda. It's the first time I'm going through this, and yeah, it's not a great feeling."
"I feel you Zo. You won't feel like yourself for a day or two."
"Yeah, and I can't stop thinking about everything that went down." Zoey replied.
"It might take a while for you to fully get through it" Bridgette said, "But we'll go through it together" she smiled.
"Thanks for the support." Zoey smiled back, "How did you feel when you broke up… I mean you don't have to tell me, only if it's fine with you."
"It's fine. I wasn't myself that day when I ended it. Next day I was absent minded and didn't think straight. I couldn't even eat in peace" Bridgette elaborated, frowning, "Still can't believe that happened. That too Geoff out of all people. Sure, he jokingly flirted with some girls before but I never thought that would happen. I thought he'd be the most loyal but..." she ranted, stressing on the incident.
Zoey listened carefully, "I know it was shocking. A hard incident to swallow."
The redhead's thoughts went to the incident in Total Drama World Tour when Bridgette and Alejandro had their moment and almost a second in the same episode.
"Um, Bridge, can I ask you something? And promise you won't be mad at me?" she asked.
The blonde looked at her, "Sure. I promise."
Zoey was about to tell her about the similar situation that happened in TD World Tour, but just as she started, her mind conflicted and decided to go against asking her.
She sighed, "N-never mind. It's not that important."
"You sure? I promise I won't be angry" Bridgette assured.
"Yea- Hey, is that the shop?" she asked as they saw the Football Dudes in front of a shop, talking to the shopkeeper.
"Looks like it is. Let's make it quick."
Zoey looked relieved.
Individual Confessional: Zoey
"What? I didn't ask her because I didn't wanna make her feel awkward." She paused before groaning and giving in, "Fine, I wanted to remind Bridgette about what she did back in season 3. I mean she was talking about loyalty and y'know, it's not fully fair to Geoff." she paused once again, rubbing her arm nervously, "I don't make a lot of friends and Bridge and I are growing closer, I'm worried we might have a disagreement over it and ruin our friendship. I don't want that."
End Individual Confessional: Zoey
Meanwhile, Lightning and DJ were the first team to reach the shop and submitted the coin to the shopkeeper, Nabeel.
"There's your coin. Lightning's team is first like always, Sha-BAM!" He struck his usual pose, "Give us the trophy; and by trophy, I mean the travel tip."
Nabeel raised an eyebrow, "But you have to translate the word I tell you."
"Translate?"
DJ cut in, "Yeah, we have to translate the word he tells us first. If we get it right, he'll give us the travel tip."
Lightning got even more confused, "Since when?"
"Since the start… You didn't pay attention brother?" DJ asked in disbelief.
Team Interview: The Football Dudes
DJ looked at Lightning, deadpanned.
"What? All I heard was 'race', 'shop' and 'travel tip', so I thought 'race to shop, get the travel tip'" he elaborated.
"We gotta be careful man."
"Fine. But you gotta admit. I was hella fast" Lightning said proudly.
"I almost beat you" DJ stated.
"Yeah, almost." the jock replied. DJ shook his head smiling.
End Team Interview: The Football Dudes
"Tell us the word sir" DJ said.
Nabeel nodded.
"شَجرة الأرز" ('Shajarat Al'Arz' means Cedar Tree)
"Sha-wha?"
Nabeel spoke up, "Not Sha-wha, it's Sha-jarat."
"What the heck's that?" Lightning exclaimed, scratching the back of his head, looking at DJ.
The Jamaican shrugged, "I have no idea man. Uh, could you give us a clue or somethin'?"
"Your host must have given you the clue when he explained the challenge" Nabeel replied.
DJ glanced at his teammate, who immediately raised his arms up in defeat.
"Don't look at me. I told you the only words I heard Don say."
Suddenly it struck DJ. "Don said something about a symbol important to Lebanon."
Nabeel nodded, "That is the clue my friend."
"Damn. I don't know anything about this place" Lightning said.
"Yeah, I don't know much either. I'll try to guess" DJ said, "Does it translate to 'Flag'? 'Cause, flag and symbol..."
"Sorry my friend, that is not what the word is." Nabeel replied.
"Oh man. Ok, this might take a while." DJ groaned, "C'mon Lightning, we gotta run back, grab another coin and come back."
"Wha- How'd I miss all that" Lightning said, looking puzzled.
"Maybe because when Don was explaining you were busy naming your triceps" Zoey cut in, as she and Bridgette submitted the coin to Nabeel.
"Naming your triceps? Who does that?" DJ asked, bewildered.
"Hey! Don't you blame Cannon and Bomb for that" Lightning exclaimed.
"Cannon and Bom- Man. Aight let's get outta here" DJ said, gesturing to Lightning to follow. "Good luck to you girls."
"Yeah good luck on reaching second when you lose to the Lightning!"
The two girls rolled their eyes before turning to Nabeel for their challenge.
Don got out of a chauffeured black sedan which had pulled over at the drop off outside a park in the city, on the way to the Corniche El Nahr. He scanned around looking for one of the show's assistants, who had called him to come over to the park. A couple of minutes later he found him and the host walked over to the spot where the assistant was standing. The first thing he noticed was a taxi, rammed into a streetlight with what looked like the driver, Scott and Justin standing beside it. It's bumper was smashed and the headlights were broken. A little crowd was present at the scene.
"What happened here?" Don questioned, looking at Scott and Justin.
"Can't you tell" Scott replied.
Don rolled his eyes, "I mean what caused it."
The driver wobbled over to Don and tapped on his shoulder to get his attention. He looked tipsy, his eyes were drowsy and he couldn't balance himself.
"Me... I'll tell you what... happened *hick* These kids threatened me with a gun" he hiccuped in between, "I lost my… what's that word... focus, yeah that's right and hit the pole-thingy. You should *hick* pay up"
Don took the man's hand off his shoulder and straightened up his suit.
"See the problem" Justin said with his arms crossed.
"I clearly do" the host replied, looking at the drunk driver, "But what's this thing about a gun?"
Scott showed a banana he was holding to the host, who raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What's this?"
"He asked me to give him the banana from the seat pocket. I tapped the thing on his shoulder to give it to him and this drunk bastard thought I was holding a fuckin' gun" Scott elaborated as he glared at the driver.
"And now he's telling us to pay up for the damage that he caused. Or he'll go for a case" Justin added.
Don massaged his forehead, trying to piece together what he had heard.
"We don't have time for the case, although we'll win it cuz he's drunk, so we'll go for a compromise." the host groaned, "Ah man, extra expenses. The producers won't like this."
He instructed the assistant to pay for the damages and reach a compromise with the driver. He turned to Scott and Justin.
"Anyway, we'll take care of things here. You two better get running. The Corniche is around 4km from here and there's heavy traffic-" He was cut off by a screech from his earpiece as he put a finger on it. Muffled voices were heard to which the host nodded. He looked at the camera, "Now you guys better take off from here because Flight two has landed at the Beirut International Airport!"
"The fuck?!" Scott exclaimed.
"C'mon, let's run!" Justin shouted as they ran towards their destination.
Don watched them disappear into the streets and then looked back at the camera, flashing his sparkling signature smile.
"The race to the chill zone is heating up. Most of the teams from the first flight have started their first challenge at the Corniche El Nahr and with the arrival of Flight two, the teams are starting to feel the pressure. Will Scott and Justin's setback lead to their elimination? Or will it be one of the teams from the second flight who will meet their early end?" Noises were heard in the background from the taxi driver. "And will this guy ruin my hosting job? I won't let that happen. Anyway, stay tuned for the next part to see what happens to our racers. The Ridonculous Race: The Race of Mayhem, is to be continued!"
THAT'S THE END OF CHAPTER 12 PART 1. HOPE YOU LIKED THIS CHAPTER. AS I SAID EARLIER, APOLOGIES FOR THE LATE UPDATE. RIDONCULOUS RACE WAS A DIFFERENT FORMAT TO WRITE AND I HOPE IT CAME OUT WELL.
