Chapter 1
TV
Talia was watching TV, eating some chips. A Donald Duck cartoon was playing. Xanatos walked in. Talia turned and saw it was him.
"Hi, Poppa." She said.
"Hello, Talia." He sat down next to her.
"What're you doing here?" Talia asked.
"Owen said you were watching TV so I came to join you." He smiled lightly.
"Ok." She nodded.
The commercials ended and they watched the cartoon. Xanatos only half paid attention. His thoughts drifted to Talia. They only recently repaired their relationship. He hadn't seen her with guard down much. Talia's presence filled the room. Her laughter, her smile. Talia turned to him to point out something, eyes sparkling with joy. It made him realize that he could have seen this sooner. Talia needed his kindness and he needed hers.
"Poppa?" Talia asked.
"Yes?" He blinked, focusing on her.
"Do you have to go back to work now?" She frowned a bit.
"Work will be fine without me." Xanatos told her, wrapping an arm around her and kissing her temple.
"Okay." Talia sounded like she stuck her fingers in her mouth.
Xanatos furrowed his brow, looking at her. She was licking her fingers. He grabbed a tissue and wiped her hands.
"Talia, Xanatoses don't do that. How many chips did you eat?" He asked.
"Uh, half?" She shrugged.
"What will I do with you, koritsaki mou?" He shook his head, tossing the tissue away.
"Huh?" Talia puzzled.
"It's Greek for my little girl." Xanatos explained.
"Oh." She said.
"Like I said, work will be fine without me for a bit. I want to spend this evening with you. Whatever you want do." He smiled.
Talia thought for a moment before reaching out for another hug. Xanatos obliged, rubbing her back. She nuzzled him. His hand petted her hair. They let go after a minute.
"What would you like to do now, Talia?" Xanatos realized he didn't know much about his daughter.
"Can we go play a game?" She asked.
"Sure, Talia." He turned off the TV and led her out.
