Chapter 5.
3 Months later…
Cairo and I are now in a committed serious relationship. He won me over with his intelligence and charm. We've done things in the bedroom but we haven't had sex yet. One reason being Cairo goes on business trips a lot. The other, I don't want to move too fast, I want the timing to be just right. I'm no virgin but I think who I decide to sleep with is an important step.
Today Cairo's back and wants us to go to the club we first met at. He feels bad for leaving often sometimes. I put my hair in a middle slick back poofy ponytail just how I used to wear when I was a child. It's cute, I wrap my hair with my scar and start to get dressed. I wear a white off the shoulder shirt paired with black jeans and MK belt. Lastly I put on white heels. Cairo is at the door so I grab my phone and leave the room.
"Babe I missed you," I practically jump into arms.
"Missed you too babe. Ready to go."
"Yup."
"You're leaving your hair like that?"
I make a puzzled face, "Um yes. What's wrong with it?"
"Nothing it's... cute… you look cute babe let's go." That sounded very suspicious but I'll let it go because he kisses my cheek and leads me out the door.
On the way to the club Cindy and Asia inform me they are going as well. Speaking of Asia, her and Riley since the night they met, they have been inseparable. Literally, those two cannot get enough of each other we have all witnessed. Anyways when we arrive the club is still the same. Same smell, haziness, drunk people, drugs and the too comfortable couples. Cairo and I take a seat not too far from the dance floor. Sitting there waiting for my friends, I hope I don't see 'You know who' but being that it's his club.
Must have spoken too soon because he's coming this way, a smug look upon his face.
"Dubois."
"Huey." I say laced with coldness.
"Long time no see," He remarks.
Cairo cuts in, "Huey is that you man?"
"Cairo?"
"What's up bro? Haven't seen you in a minute."
"You're the one that's a stranger." My eyes widen 'These two know each other?!'
"You know him?" I turned to Cairo very much intrigued by the history behind them.
"Yea Huey and me go way back."
Huey nods, "Since elementary school."
"So where you been at?"
"It is my club so I'm always around. What about you?"
"Back and forth between Chicago and New York, business stuff. Jazmine and I are actually celebrating our 5 month anniversary today." Cairo wraps his arm around me, I frown at him not remembering the amount of time we've been together. I adjust myself uncomfortably under his arm.
"Actually it's 3 months babe," I remind him.
"Sorry babe time flies by fast when you're in love," Cairo kisses my cheek and Huey's face flashes for a second with some emotion. I can't determine but it returns to his normal stoic face. 'Weird.'
"3 month anniversary? Didn't know that was a thing," Huey comments slyly.
"Well it is!" I kind of snap at him.
"I see. Well I'll let you get back to your 5 month sorry 3 month celebration." There's a ghost of a smirk on his face and I roll my eyes. 'Still the same pompous a-hole'
"See you around, bro" Cairo daps up Huey and he leaves.
"So how do you know Huey?"
"He's friends with Cindy's boyfriend. Spoke to him once or twice. Nothing more." I shrug lying my ass off there was more to the story but I didn't feel like getting into it. He doesn't need to know all the details. Cairo just nods and takes a sip from his drink. Soon after my friends arrive and join us at the table. We talk and drink for a while, then all of us hit the dance floor due to Riley's harassment.
Huey's POV
I sit at the bar where I unfortunately have a clear view of the dance floor. A clear view of a certain mulatto. The way she dances, the way she moves her hips. Those hips. I can't help but think those should be my hands on them not Cairo's. I don't know what this feeling is but I don't like it. Man I'm tripping right now. I thought I forgot about this girl and now she shows up with him. Cairo and I aren't enemies but I definitely would like to keep my distance from him.
At one point he was my best friend but that's years ago, high school. We grew up, started hanging with different people, different crowds. That was around the time I met Caesar who just moved here from New York. We shared the majority of the same views while Cairo and I stopped seeing eye to eye. He changed but didn't mature.
I'm he's even here he never could stay in one place or with one girl. In high school he would always cheat on his girlfriends with random girls. Some of them even had boyfriends. He would make me deal with them knowing I was a loyal friend and wouldn't let him get his ass beat. Although now looking back I should have, he never learned his lesson. Cairo continued to mess with girls at a time while being in a relationship. I can't blame it all on him, Cairo had a reputation and the females still fell for his deceiving ways. But I highly doubt he has changed his ways which kind of sucks for Jazmine, she doesn't know what she got herself into.
I finish off the rest of my third drink, I just want to stop feeling what this feeling is, just want to forget it completely.
"Chris let me get a refill."
"That's going to be your fourth one."
I raise an angry eyebrow, "And?"
"I'm just saying you might want to slow down, boss."
"All I'm saying is you might want to get my beer or you won't have a job" I warn Chris. I wasn't in the mood for Chris or anyone really for that matter. Usually I would have been in my office, alone how I like it. But tonight was different being alone with the shit going on in my mind would have made me delusional.
"Point taken coming right up boss!" Chris comes back with my drink quickly. Just as I'm about to take a sip two arms wrap around my chest, catching me off guard .
"Did you miss me?" I turn around to see Kayla, a girl I messed around with some months ago. I frown, this night is about to get even worse.
"No." I reply bluntly.
"That's okay. I know you did." She must have lost her damn mind.
I ignored her comment "What are you doing here?"
"Came to see you, Silly." I cringe. I hated it when she called me that.
"Thought you would be off somewhere with your boyfriend." Kayla wanted to be in a relationship with me. But I don't date, I made that very clear with her from the jump. Eventually she got tired of it and told me she had a boyfriend. I didn't really care, she was a mediocre looking girl anyway.
"Yeah but I miss you. He just doesn't fuck me like you." I arch an eyebrow. I admire this girl's boldness but she lacks personality.
I shrug, " That's tough." I take a sip of my drink.
"You could come over tonight, be like old times." I think about this offer, she has a whole boyfriend and is coming to me after months. Remind me why I messed with this female, I look at her. 'Oh yeah her body.' However, her body isn't nearly as good looking as… I stop myself when I look at the couple on the dance floor, before maybe considering her offer… Nah.
"Eh, I'm going to have to pass. I don't fuck girls that already have a nigga."
"Your loss Huey. Your brother might be right about you being gay." She huffs and walks away. There was no logic at all behind her statement. I shrug and go back to my beer. I take one last glance at the dance floor and shake my head. This is going to be one long night.
"Chris another round!"
A/N: How do you guys like the little dip into Huey's mind? I tried my best I don't know how men think lmao. But let me know how you feel about this chapter. Next one will be juicy. Please review, Thank You!
