Chapter 2

Karlee stopped dead in her tracks. she turned around almost too quick and nearly fell over. The man looked nervous as she approached him.

"What?" She snapped, suddenly interested in what he had to say. He fumbled with his hands and grabbed a piece of paper from his pocket. He thrust it in her direction and she took it from him. The paper was all scrunched up and not very professional. Or at least not what she expected from someone from the WWE.

"She sent me here to scout but said I must talk to you and convince you to come to the headquarters. She really wants to meet you." She opened the piece of paper to reveal a picture of herself and her name scrawled next to it. A date and time was also under her name.

Obviously every wrestler wanted to make it to the big leagues but sometimes that meant giving up your personality and becoming who they wanted you to be. Karlee had always taken pride on her actual skills rather than what she looked like. It made her stand out as a great performer and not just a piece of ass. She looked up at the man again and her face softened.

"I'll think about it." She scoffed and turned on her heel again.

Karlee was so relieved to get in her front door and couldn't wait to just sit down and vegetate on the sofa, watching crap on Netflix and eating her body weight in food. She was not, however, prepared for the absolute shit show that she did walk into. Playstation controllers littered her sofa along with empty pizza boxes and beer cans. The room smelled like men and not a pleasant odour either. She tried to take a deep breath and remain calm, promising herself that this would only take ten minutes to clean up when she sat down on the edge only to stand straight back up again, the strange wet sensation seeping through her leggings. They had spilled beer on her damn sofa. A scream rippled through her throat as she kicked a pizza box high up in the air, her frustration getting the better of her.

She spent the next hour cleaning up and mopping up beer. Karlee made sure to throw the left over pizza into the trash, knowing how much Matt looked forward to it when he came home drunk. She also made sure to hide his charger for his controller under the sofa. That might make him think again.

Karlee eventually grabbed a beer of her own and moved to the dry side of the sofa. Her night was very nearly at its end and she knew she would rather be in bed before Matt came home drunk. If he had any sense, he would come home alone and make sure his friends went home too. Her and Matt had been together nearly 4 years and after getting together at the tender age of 19, she was slowly growing tired of her need for something more. They shared an apartment but that was Karlee's before he moved in. She wanted something that resembled a huge rock on her wedding finger or a dog at the very least. Matt always went on about a baby, being that little bit older but she didn't think she wanted.

The scrunched up paper in her pocket grabbed her attention and she pulled it out again. She settled her beer between her legs and took a deep breath as she studied the words on the paper. She flicked the channel over out of interest and decided to watch that nights WWE taping. The dream had obviously always been the WWE but in recent years, her dream had waned when she saw how the female talent were being booked. It was always the same people over and over again and even when the background talent got a shot, it was always a five minute over the top rope job.

One things Karlee took immense pride in was being able to keep her character and develop it how she wanted it. It could all go out the window if she joined a massive company like them. She worked a full time bar job to fund and support her wrestling lifestyle and although it made her miserable, it was a small price to pay to have her dignity intact and do what she wanted and loved.

She sighed as she heard the front door slam open, a very drunk boyfriend stumbling through the door. He saw her sitting there and opted to put on his sauve persona, slinking towards her, hoping for some sexy time. Karlee was not in the mood, especially after having to clear up his shit.

"What are you watching baby." He said, kissing her neck and resting his hands on her chest. She grimaced as the smell of bourbon made its way up her nostrils. For someone who worked in a bar all day, the overpowering smell of alcohol could make her stomach churn. She angled away from him much to his disgust.

"I was approached by a talent scout tonight, I was just checking them out." She emptied her bottle and put the paper back in her pocket. She studied Matt's face for a reaction, waiting to see what he would say.

What, from the WWE?" He was smirking. She nodded.

"What do they want with you?" His tone was condescending, he was always an arse when he was drunk. She rolled her eyes at him and stood up.

"To go and work for them I assume. I am good you know." She couldn't believe him. She knew he was always unsure of her wrestling and her ability as well but he was usually never as unsupportive. He shrugged his shoulders and threw up his hands in defeat.

"Okay, I mean don't go quitting your job and all that." He stalked towards the bedroom leaving Karlee feeling defeated and sad. She so wished she had someone who believed in her and maybe for once she would have some confidence in herself. She sighed again, opting to drag a blanket over to the sofa and sleep there for the night. Hopefully Matt would see sense and apologise in the morning.

Loved my first review. This is the same character but a slightly different backstory. I hope you grow to love her!
