A/N: Will be curious to hear what you think my lovelies.
TW: Angst, smut, vampire stuff, possessive klaus

It felt like they were scouts and Klaus was the camp leader. As she listened to him the thought hit her again that he was quite the storyteller, or maybe it just seemed like that because everyone was hanging onto his lips like it was the end of time.
Caroline made a mental note to ask him to tell her a bedtime story sometime since his voice was so relaxing. His accent was vibrating pleasantly in her ears, making her happy that she was sitting right next to him.
The whole pack had joined them in a big circle around the bonfire and it felt cosy. The fire was bright and warm and made her feel drowsy. The lack of sleep was getting to her, and as a baby vampire, she still needed regular sleep. Klaus and she were sitting on a big rock and she felt her head falling against Klaus's shoulder time and time again. Every time this happened she tried to sit up straight again and open her eyes. The third time this happened she noticed Klaus staring at her with the most adorable smile before he continued his story.
The pretty orange of the fire was a sight to behold on a night like this. So were the stars, they never seemed this bright in Mystic Falls. However, Caroline couldn't help but shiver at the sight of the full moon.
'Look up, my friends,' Klaus said, the fire reflecting in his eyes, 'the moon is shining down on you, but you are a slave no more.'
Everyone looked up at the moon so obediently that it looked like Klaus was a puppet master. Murmurs of wonder echoed throughout the camp.
Ray was sitting next to him on the other side, and the placement seemed meaningful to her. As if Klaus wanted to visualise to the pack that he had taken over and that the previous Alpha had agreed with it.
Caroline looked at Stefan who was leaning against a tree. He had decided against joining the circle earlier that evening and instead entered into the role of an observer. He caught her eyes and they shared a moment of wonder. It felt like they were intruding on a weird cult.
'I have given you this gift,' Klaus started, drawing their attention back to him. The eyes of the persons she had yet to learn the names of returned to Klaus. The moon had made place for a new master. 'And I will give you more,' he continued slowly, 'safety, a place to stay, the chance to see more than the world you have come to know.'
As she listened, Caroline couldn't deny that Klaus had a commanding presence. Even Stefan seemed enthralled, though he would deny it later.
She watched as Klaus paused for a moment to make eye contact with each and every one of his hybrids. 'But most of all, I won't take what you already have. A family. Wherever we go, you'll stay together. We will stay together.'
Cheers emerged, the faces of the hybrids seemed hopeful, clapping for their new future.
The noise quietened down when it became clear that the original hybrid wasn't done speaking. 'All I ask is your support,' Klaus said sincerely, tilting his head.
The frantic nods of agreement surprised her, these people were literally signing their life away to Klaus and they didn't seem to care.
It startled her when he stood up, his eyes were gleaming as he spoke. 'Very well then, let's let the beasts out one more time, my friends.'
His hybrids cheered in agreement as Klaus took off his shirt, revealing the skin she had come to know so well. The light of the fire illuminated his upper body beautifully.
However, Caroline's brows furrowed when everyone in the circle started to undress, she didn't know what to do. Excited murmurs became louder in her ears. It wouldn't be long before everyone would go full werewolf. Feeling helpless she made her way over to Stefan. Just because Klaus had the cure didn't mean she wanted to be bitten again.
But Stefan nodded at something behind her and that's when Caroline felt warm arms wrap around her waist. The blonde looked up to find Klaus holding her, his gaze intense. 'You are afraid,' he noted, 'don't be, my love.'
Caroline rolled her eyes at him, 'Well what do you expect,' she said in frustration, 'I am a vampire in the werewolf's den. At least when I helped Tyler with his transition, there were bars between us. All I see here are useless tents.'
He hummed against her skin as he listened, the vibration of it making her sigh softly. The hybrid was now thoroughly nuzzling her neck with his face, leaving her slightly confused as to why he was doing it. 'Eh. What are you doing?' she asked, raising one eyebrow.
'Leaving my scent on you, they won't touch you if they know you are mine,' Klaus murmured against her soft skin.
The blonde nodded slowly, processing this. Closing her eyes, she allowed herself to melt into his embrace.
Her eyes flew open when she thought of Stefan.
'What about Stefan?' Caroline asked, she didn't want her friend to get hurt either.
'Ah, he will be fine,' Klaus said dismissively in between soft kisses on her shoulder.
Her body tensed, and she pulled away slightly. That answer will not do. 'Yea, well 'fine' is not particularly convincing.'
Klaus smirked at her defiance. 'Alright, then,' he said, throwing his t-shirt at Stefan.
The Salvatore brother caught it, keeping his expression blank.
'Have at it Stefan, use it as a blankie to keep you warm tonight.'
The mocking tone triggered a fit of anger in Stefan she had not expected. Throwing Klaus's shirt on the floor he walked away disappearing behind the trees.
Concerned, she wanted to catch up to him. 'Stefan,' she called out as she moved forward in his direction. The only thing stopping her was Klaus's hand preventing her.
'Do you have feelings for him?' Klaus asked her lowly.
His question made her laugh, she was so over Stefan, had been for ages.
His grip on her arm didn't loosen though.
'Stefan? No. He is a close friend that's all.'
She turned around confused why he was acting like a possessive boyfriend all of sudden.
His yellow eyes gave her an idea why. His werewolf side was coming to the surface.
Before he could speak she planted a kiss on his lips, erasing any doubts from his mind. A short one, because she knew it was time, the hybrids seemed to be waiting for him.
'Have fun,' she whispered against his lips.
His smile was sweet.

Caroline had never seen so many naked bodies's in her life. It looked like some kind of voodoo orgy on the forest floor. While transition seemed to cause agony in each and every one of them she couldn't help but feel lonely watching from the sidelines.
All this talk of family and being a pack made her think of her own lack of belonging. Vampires were more likely to kill each other than become friends in her experience. And the people that she did have would die, except for Stefan perhaps.
The blonde glanced at him in wonder. Not long after Klaus started transitioning Stefan had come back to join her on the rock. She was sitting cross-legged and wearing Klaus's t-shirt which made her feel safe. 'Do you hate Klaus?' Caroline asked him quietly.
Stefan didn't answer right away, his dark eyebrows pushing together before he finally shrugged his shoulders. 'If he has grown on me, it's only because you bring out the best in everyone.'
She let out a deep sigh, watching the first few hybrids runoff in wolf form.
'It looks a bit like a creepy cult, doesn't it? But a part of me wishes I was in it. They seem like a family connected by their nature. Warm where vampires seem cold.'
Stefan raised his eyebrows, unimpressed. 'They look compelled,' he retorted, 'is it really a family if you are forced to obey orders?'
Her eyes widened at the implication of this. 'I really hope he didn't compel them,' Caroline said sadly, staring at the fire again.
'Oh Caroline, if you only knew the things I have done,' Stefan admitted. 'If the only thing holding you back from being with him is the fear of judgment from others, know you won't get any from me. That would make me a hypocrite I have done far too terrible things when I was in Ripper mode, things you and Elena would hate me for.'
'You're good, Stefan,' Caroline said decisively.
He sighed at her idealised perception of him. 'It's all a spectrum, we are all capable of good and evil,' he said, cracking the twig he was holding in his hands. 'Besides, I get the sense that Klaus is lonely.'
She rolled her eyes. 'Aren't we all? You don't see me compelling myself a bunch of people to fill that hole in my life. He will always wonder now, are they here because they want to be? Or because I compelled them?'
Stefan nodded in agreement. 'The whole purpose of this trip was to find people like him, but the real treasure will be the friends he made along the way.'
'I mean, you are technically also only here because of me,' Caroline teased.
He laughed.
'True, that.'
A small comfortable silence emerged, they were alone now. The hybrids were off doing wolf things.
'I called Elena, by the way,' Caroline said nonchalantly.
Caroline noticed him tense before he turned to face her fully, raising an inquiring eyebrow.
'She seemed fine, it was such a good chat, and again Katherine is only trying to mess with you two. Elena didn't mention anything that would suggest Damon has his claws in her. The only thing she said is that Katherine had been bothering her with comments about playing both brothers.'
Stefan let out a breath of relief.
'It won't be long now,' she promised while rubbing her eyes. Her eyelids felt heavy, and she was feeling drowsy again now that she felt safer.
'One second,' he said, before wooshing away.
He came back with an air mattress, blanket, and a pillow, presumably stolen from one of the tents.
'Baby vampires need rest,' Stefan said in explanation, 'Sleep tight Caroline, I'll keep an eye out.'
It wasn't long before a certain baby vampire was fast asleep.

She didn't wake up alone that morning on the air mattress. Klaus was spooning her, naked. His arms were familiar and warm, and she loved his scent. He must have joined her later in the night when he came back. 'Eh. Hello,' she said hoarsely, opening her eyes slightly. Though she closed them again quickly enough because the sun was glaring down at them harshly through the treetops.
He nuzzled her neck in affection, 'Good morning, love,' Klaus murmured. She could hear the smile in his voice and it made her smile.
'You are surprisingly cuddly,' Caroline noted with humour. It felt nice to be held like this.
'My wolf loved coming back and finding you in my t-shirt,' he informed her, 'that may have something to do with it.'
Ah, she remembered yes, she had put his shirt on.
'Yes, well, it made me feel safe.'
He was silent for a moment.
'You feel safe with me?' he asked, his voice raw.
She had promised him honesty, and at this moment she knew only one thing, she had never felt safer. But, she didn't want to vocalise that so Caroline only nodded a yes.
She peeked through her eyelashes at the camp and noted that there were naked bodies everywhere. It was comforting to know they weren't the only ones cuddling, it made them stand out less.
'I suppose public displays of affection are more acceptable in werewolf communities,' Caroline mused, turning her head to face his. His dirty blonde hair was wild and there were streaks of dirt on his face. And his eyes looked like he wanted to fuck her. If only.
'Is that an invitation, love,' Klaus rasped, tilting his head.
They were still lying on their sides, but her body was facing his fully now. Her fingers were brushing the little birds on his shoulder, she loved this tattoo. Just as she would love something else.
'I'd love to kiss you.'
His expression said enough and yet he didn't lose control. Instead, he waited patiently for her to make the first move, and that was hot to her.
No time to waste, Caroline wrapped her hands around his neck and pulled him into her. Her lips were demanding as they settled on his, and he indulged her. He gave her the illusion of control before he took it from her. Klaus was an incredible kisser, and she loved how tightly he was holding her, one hand in her blonde curls.
The taste of him told her a story of where he had been, and she smiled at the realisation that he had tried out the bunny diet.
Klaus pulled away from the kiss momentarily, looking at her intently, 'What's got you smiling, little dove.'
'Oh, just applauding you for expanding your horizons and trying out the bunny diet,' she teased.
Klaus grinned back at her, amused.
'Oh, the things I do for you,' he said winking.
'Ha-, you did it for me huh. Sure.'
'My wolf works in mysterious ways.'
His playful side made her so content that Caroline couldn't help but kiss him on his chest, before hugging him tightly.
His hand on her back felt possessive, but she didn't mind.
'Do you want to go swimming?' Caroline asked him, her voice muffled by the embrace. 'The waterfalls look so pretty, I desperately wanted to go yesterday, but we were on a mission and all that.'
'How could I say no to that?' he asked sincerely.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Big rocks were secluding their swimming spot. The blue water looked clear and fresh, making it look deceivingly shallow. Caroline stood barefoot on tiny little stones on the ground, excited to go in, but something was holding her back.
'You could have put on boxers, you know,' Caroline said, as she threw a rock in the water, waiting for the plop sound. She was trying hard to avoid looking at his "parts."
His tone was amused as he spoke. 'Hmm, why would I put boxers on only to take them off again?' Ugh, he was right, her logic was a bit off. He looked her body up and down, a smile playing on his lips. 'Perhaps, you need help taking your clothes off?' Klaus asked knowingly.
'I am perfectly capable of that, thank you very much,' Caroline uttered, taking off her top for emphasis. Her words were met with the sound of a splash, he had jumped in the water without her. How dare he.
'Hey,' she said offended, taking off her clothes with an urgency that left her naked in a couple of seconds. Glaring at him and his smug face she jumped in as well, the water refreshing on her skin. 'You should have waited for me,' she snapped, splashing water on him.
He had the audacity to laugh, the water leaving him cold, apparently. He looked youthful and very much human. His hair looked brown now that it was wet, sticking to his forehead. 'All I did was speed up the process, love,' he teased.
She rolled her eyes, but the smile on her face was hard to miss. Caroline decided to swim to the waterfall on the other side. Summers in Mystic Falls had been full of swimming at the lake, so she wasn't bad at it, but of course, Klaus had to show off. He swam past her without breaking so much of a sweat. 'Why do you always have to show off?' she asked him, frustration dripping from her tongue. It was also frustrating how sexy the water droplets looked on his shoulders.
He swam back into her proximity, raising his eyebrows at her. 'Have you thought about the possibility that I might like swimming?'
'Do you?' Caroline asked curiously, coming to a stop in the water. It was shallow enough to stand here, her nipples barely hiding under the water.
He didn't often volunteer information about himself. But right now his eyes were shining with a light that suggested that his words were true.
'Hmm, what do you suppose we did a thousand years ago once we finished our chores,' he stated, running his hand through the water. 'Nature was our playground. And having many siblings meant that you always had someone to go swimming with.'
'Lucky you,' Caroline said. The blonde couldn't help but feel bitter. The number of times she had wished for a sister growing up.
His expression darkened slightly. 'I wouldn't say I am lucky, I have been betrayed few too many times over the centuries,' he said with an edge.
Caroline shrugged. 'At least you have a big family. And family is family no matter what happens. I love my mum and my dad despite everything. But who will I have after they are gone? You are lucky they are sharing immortality with you.'
Klaus was staring at her intently. 'Even if I forgive them for betraying me, they wouldn't forgive me. They would turn their back on me if they had the chance.'
'Hmm. Ever tried saying sorry?' Caroline offered, 'like a normal person.'
His jaw clenched, 'No offense love, but you have no idea what you are talking about.'
'Fine, whatever,' Caroline said, crossing her arms, 'I tried.' She was done here and about to swim away when Klaus gripped her arm.
'It's not that I don't appreciate you, but you oversimplify complex things.'
Caroline huffed, 'Silly, shallow little Caroline, doesn't know what she is talking about. Well, you know what Klaus… At least I can get people to stick around without compelling them.'
The atmosphere took a dark turn.
'Hmm, didn't the quarterback leave when I met you. Oh and your dad left a long time ago, didn't he? And your mum, is she ever home?' he mocked.
Caroline pulled her arm away from him roughly, the water splashing.
'That's a low blow and you know it,' she snarled.
His eyes were full of regret but she didn't care. The blonde felt herself tearing up at his words, but she didn't want him to see that, so she dived in the water.
The water was cool and helped her gain perspective, no more spilled tears over cruel bastards. Hair drenched, she returned to the surface and faced him head-on. 'Thanks for that actually, it will be easier to get over you now.'
'Can you see why they can't forgive me now? This is what I do. I push people away when they hurt me. Your words hurt me, Caroline, it made me lash out,' Klaus rasped, pain present in his voice. 'Them leaving doesn't mean anything about you. You are more than worthy, more worthy than I could ever be.'
'This morning I told you I felt safe with you, but here you go using my insecurities against me. Why would you do this to me?' Caroline asked weakly. It hit her that she had used his insecurities against him as well, she hadn't been nice either.
As she took a deep breath, she noticed that his eyes were the same colour as the water.
'I love you, Caroline and I'd rather push you away than wait for you to walk away like all the others.'
She had to touch him, she wanted to feel his skin on hers at least one more time.
'You love me?' Caroline murmured against his wet shoulder.
'You're my sunshine and every day will feel cold without you,' he whispered in her ear.
She had an idea.
'Let me show you something,' Caroline said, a smile in her voice, 'All you need to do is apologise.'
'I am sorry,' Klaus said without skipping a beat. 'Seeing the pain in your eyes that I caused made me think that father was right about me after all.'
She leaned back slightly, to look at him, the vulnerability in his eyes touched her.
'I forgive you Nik, and I don't want to walk away from you,' Caroline said honestly, 'We have a true connection, and I want to explore it further with you.'
He looked surprised, his mouth falling open slightly.
'See,' Caroline said proudly, 'people might surprise you. They may choose to stay.'
He pulled her in a hug, nuzzling her neck. 'I couldn't care less what other people choose to do. All I need is you, my love.'
Another idea came to mind with his words.
'Hmm… you wouldn't object to me meeting your sister then, would you? I need a shopping partner in crime,' Caroline said happily, 'I will put in a good word for you, I'm very convincing. I mean, you clearly love her, when you talk about her you get this cute faint smile on your lips.'
Klaus laughed at her little tactic. 'Ah... Caroline, the things I do for you,' he said fondly.
She felt his hands running over her body, it was colder than normal because of the water.
'Is that a yes?' she asked hopefully.
He bit her neck with his human teeth. 'I suppose we will have a little family reunion in Chicago. It's only fitting.'
'Good,' Caroline said brightly, her fangs brushing his neck. 'May I have you for brunch?'
'Shh, enough talking,' Klaus said lowly, before gently sinking his fangs in her. The blonde figured that was a yes.
As she tasted him, Caroline felt overwhelmed with emotions and lust, she had to pull away.
'Mmm. you taste so good, Nik,' she whispered against his ear. Then her hand found his hard cock underwater. 'This morning I fantasised about you fucking me in front of the entire pack.'
'I wanted to,' Klaus growled, 'you're mine.'
She wanted to tease him with some truth bombs.
'If it wasn't for Stefan I would have asked you to pull over that first night, I wanted you so bad. If it wasn't for Stefan I would have begged you to take me this morning in front of your pets.'
'Starting to think that Stefan doesn't make much of a wingman. He and I need to have a chat about his cockblocking.'
'You're also cockblocking him, to be fair,' she laughed.
'Shhh,' Klaus said, before licking at the wound on her neck.
Caroline started pumping his length, enjoying the feeling of his cock in her hand. The blonde could tell she was starting to affect Klaus because his mouth left her neck to make eye contact.
'What do you want?' he asked, his eyes dark as night.
Caroline enjoyed the feeling of his hands on her neck, choking her softly. 'Make me scream so loud they can hear me.'
'Oh don't you worry about that sweetheart,' Klaus said lowly, 'I saw a perfect tree for the job right there…'
Every word he spoke left her weaker for him.
His index finger was rubbing against her red lips now. Lips tainted with his blood.
'How about you make your way over there, and wait for me, sweetheart. All I ask is you put your hands on the tree and bend over prettily for me.'
His eyes were downright sinful and she didn't need to be told twice.
The blonde left the water as quickly as she had entered it.

A/N Hope you enjoyed that. Thought I would inform you that I will soon have less time to write since I will be heading back to uni. So don't worry if it takes a while before I update, I haven't abandoned the story.
Thanks for all your sweet comments. They make my day.
