Chapter Nineteen

Seleine P.O.V

I was back in the moon palace for the first time since my mother killed me. This would most likely be my last time as well. After I had explained everything to my sister, she allowed us inside to rest. I had told her that the battle that we had just gone through would strain the senshi immensely. They were merely running on fumes now. I could feel their sorrow in my bones. Their grief was starting to set in. Everything that happened in the last few hours settled.

I sighed deeply. I was back in my old room. It was almost the exact same as when I lived in this room all those years ago. Serenity's room was always a pale pink with yellow surrounding the room. The senshi's rooms were the same colors as their gifted planets. Mine, on the other hand, was different. The majority of my room was black, but it did have swift colors along the walls and adorning certain items. Just the way I left it.

I arose from my wonderfully soft bed. I walked over to my balcony and took a step outside. This is where it happened. When Serenity and I argued, and I pushed her off of my balcony. I walked to the edge and touched the rail. A vision of the whole thing flashed before my eyes. I dropped to a knee as the air was ripped from my lungs. I grew still. Tears came to my eyes as I thought about the last moments I had with my sister back on earth. Everything was so wrong. Nothing was the way it was supposed to be.

I stood back up and looked out into the palace grounds. I looked at the beautiful green grass. A breeze blew by, and it smelled of the most wondrous pine trees you could find on the palace grounds. I drew my head back as a warm breeze grazed my skin. I missed it here so much. I knew a peace here that I never knew anywhere else.

I opened my eyes back up and saw Earth slowly rotating what seemed like a great distance away. My heart squeezed at the sight of it. Everything that awaited me back there suddenly came crashing in. My heart started to race. I grabbed onto the railing again as I reached inside me for air. Seconds later, warmth was at my back.

"Take it easy. Just breathe Seleine."

I breathed in the scent of my sister. I turned around and reached for her. I embraced her and felt her warmth once more. I was overwhelmed with the scent of lavender and jasmine. Tears trickled down my cheeks as she embraced me. I could feel her crying on my shoulder, but I didn't care. She was in my arms. The one person I loved more than anyone else in this world was finally back in my arms.

We fell to the ground as our legs could no longer hold us. I could feel the tremors going through Serenity's body as her memories of all the times we spent together came flooding back. I hushed her as a sob began to form and rubbed her back.

Finally, we both pulled away. I feared that if I didn't keep her with me at all times she was going to fly away. The thought of her leaving me had me reaching for her hand.

Her other hand rose up and wiped away the tears from my cheeks. She moved forward, and her forehead came to rest on mine. We breathed each other in for a few moments before we looked back up at each other.

"You must be hungry. Why don't we go down to the kitchens and fix some food?" She said.

It was then that I realized how long it had been since I'd last eaten. Part of me wanted to tell her that eating food wasn't going to bring me back to complete health, but I let her think it was good enough.

We walked down the many stairs in silence. We were both terrified to say something and realize it was all an illusion. I squeezed her hand at the thought of it and the squeeze she gave back to me told me she was thinking the same thing.

Finally, we found ourselves in the kitchen. She told me to sit as she looked through the cupboards for something. I wasn't sure what she could be looking for. Then she found it and held it out to me. It was a muffin. I smelled the muffin and memories flooded back. The scent of vanilla brought back so much nostalgia that it was difficult to realize what my present really was.

I opened my eyes and smiled in thanks. The muffin was even better than I remembered.

After I had devoured ten muffins, we walked outside to our gardens. There it was again, that beautiful scent of pine. This time though, I also smelled sunshine. I looked around and realized we were surrounded by beautiful yellow flowers.

I sighed when we finally sat down on a bench. I turned to my sister and studied her face. She didn't look much older than she was in the present. She still had that soft delicate skin that many women envied. That's one of the many traits we inherited from our mother. Her long blonde hair was still as smooth as ever. Her royal blue eyes twinkled yet were paler than they were before. That was the only sign that showed her age. Her face only showed wisdom and peace.

"So," I finally said breaking the silence. "Tell me everything."

She turned toward me with a smile on her face. "Whatever do you mean?"

"I want to know everything. I want to know about your reign. I want to know everything about Chibi-Usa, and when will you introduce me to my lovely niece? And I want to know about your marriage to King Endymion," I said shaking my head just a little to give a dramatic effect.

"There you go again with that dramatic flair," she said grinning. She chuckled softly at my many questions. "My reign has been wonderful thus far. We've had arguments and spats with other kingdoms, but no wars. The Moon Kingdom is in peace as it should be. Endymion frequently leaves for Earth just to make sure everything is going smoothly down there.

"Now my daughter. She may have never met you, but she is just as pigheaded as you." I barked a laugh and so did she. "She loathes being called Chibi-Usa, though. She says, 'I'm queen to be. I shall now be referred to as Small Lady only.'" My sister rolled her eyes.

"She sounds just like you," I said.

"What on earth do you mean?" She gasped.

"You loathed it when people called you odango," I said with an arched eyebrow.

She looked away from me, but I knew there was a glimmer of a smile on her face. "As for my marriage, it is going fine," she said.

I beckoned for her to tell me more, yet all she did was shrug. "Should I be expecting more nieces and maybe even a nephew?" I asked her. Her eyes flashed. I wasn't sure that I was going to like this news.

"Endymion and I no longer share a bed sister."

I stilled for a moment. "Right, I forgot. He's ill. Mercury and I can go up to see him and we can see if there's anything we can do for him if you'd like."

"That would be wonderful," she said looking down at her feet. I wanted to ask more but didn't want to push yet.

Her mouth opened and was prepared to say something to me when one of her servants came in.

"Your Majesty, there is someone in the court awaiting your presence," he said with a bow.

"Oh yes," she said rising. She brushed off her skirt and touched his arm. "Seleine, I'd like you to meet Julian. He is my most trusted advisor. Julian, this is my sister, Princess Seleine."

The man was so busy fawning over my sister that he didn't recognize my title at first. When he realized my title, he was shocked yet bowed no less. I really hated when people bowed to me, so I cleared my throat and smiled as his head rose.

"Yes well, we must have a chat over dinner sister," she said kissing my cheek. She walked away, and I found myself alone in the garden.

I tipped my head back and breathed in the air for a few more minutes before I decided to go back inside to find my senshi and shittenou. I walked through the halls from sheer memory and found myself right in front of Pluto's room. I had knocked on the door and waited for a few moments before I opened the door. Pluto was fixing the gown she was wearing. I lifted an eyebrow.

"Queen Serenity didn't want us in our civilian dress and didn't want us walking about in our senshi form either. She gave us the dresses from our future selves," she explained. Her black dress smoothed over every one of her slim curves. It went down all the way to her feet and was held up by thin straps on either shoulder.

She looked at me still in my fuku. "Well, you look underdressed," she said.

"Well, I wasn't exactly around in this time, now was I?" I asked with a bite.

She shrugged her shoulders and began putting on black heels. "Heels?" I questioned.

Again, she answered with another shrug. "How was Endymion?" I asked.

"He was fine. He was completely oblivious to the fact that Serenity had turned dark. I sent him a message detailing what happened and left him with the Starlights."

"I see. Good work," I said clapping her on the shoulder. "Now let's see how the rest of the senshi are doing."

She nodded her head and walked out of her room. We walked down the hall to check on the rest of the senshi and make sure they were making through the change okay. After we had made sure the senshi were settling in alright, I decided to hunt for the Shittenou. I could only imagine where they were at when they didn't have rooms in the palace before.

Pluto and I walked hall through hall coming to no more common rooms. Finally, Julian entered a hall. If anyone knew where they were, he would know.

"Julian," I hollered. He turned around and when he realized who was talking to him, he gave a nervous bow. "Do you by chance know where the men we came with were stationed?"

He paused for a moment attempting to remember. The palace was huge, so I assume it would take a moment for him to remember. "Ah yes, they are in the east wing."

I thanked him and went on the search for the rest of my warriors. It took us thirty minutes to reach the east wing. I knocked on a door and waited for an answer. The door opened, and Zoisite was behind the door. He opened it a little further and I could see the rest of my Shittenou were inside.

He beckoned me inside but paused when Pluto tried to enter as well. I gave Zoisite a stern look and he allowed her inside.

"How is everyone settling?" I asked.

They all nodded in turn. I turned to Kunzite. "Any news regarding Serenity?" I asked him.

He shook his head. "No, but it won't take her long to figure out you're here," he said.

"Yes, and no doubt my father will send Nyx to chase us back to Earth," I voiced aloud.

"If I may," Nephrite spoke up. I nodded allowing him to continue. "We should take this brief opportunity to train. The senshi need to be stronger in order for us to win this war."

I looked at Pluto from the side of my eye. She was looking at the ground. No argument.

"Very well. We will train after dinner then," I stated. We briefly talked a little more about strategy on earth before we went our separate ways to prepare for dinner. Pluto said nothing. I knew something inside her was a little wounded at the idea only the senshi would be undergoing difficult training.

It's only been a few hours since we've been here, and Serenity has already put me in a dress. I loathed dresses. What's wrong with trousers and a clean shirt? At least it was a dark blue dress that went down to my feet and covered the awful flats she demanded of me. If it had been pink, I would have gone back to Earth in a heartbeat.

When Seleine gave Serenity back her memories, she gave us all our memories back. I remembered her. I remembered us. I loved her in the past. I wanted to deny it, but my heart yearned for her. I wanted her in my arms and to never let her go. I also wanted to strangle her for taking my memories away.

I walked downstairs and was directed to go into the dining room across from the kitchen. I didn't know how, but I knew where I was going. It must have been from my past self that directed me where to go.

I was the first one in the dining room and fearing that it would be rude, I stood and looked at the many paintings on the wall instead of sitting down at the large table. A few minutes later and the senshi and shittenou were in the room with me. The senshi were all dressed in the same kind of gown but in their respective colors.

We heard footsteps coming and in came Seleine in her princess gown. The air was knocked out of my lungs, and my hands began to sweat. Her gown was similar to Serenity's, but she had sleeves that went just passed her elbow and there was a very low cut that allowed little to the imagination. I had to gulped and struggled to drag my eyes away. Her white-grey gown had splashes of color at the end of her dress. Her red hair was pulled up into a thick ponytail with silver jewels adorning it. Her ruby red hair went all the way down her waist and curled slightly at the ends.

Her eyes roamed the room and landed on me. She dipped her head as if to say hello. She moved to the table and chose a seat near the middle. We all moved to do the same. Then Serenity came in. She was beautiful. Her dress was almost the same it had been before. But she had wings fashioned into her dress. She also wore a shiny silver crown on her head. Trailing behind her was a pink-haired young woman.

Everyone bowed to the queen and the princess. Serenity took her place at the top of the table and Small Lady sat next to her. We all began to sit when she waved Seleine to come up and sit next to her. Seleine's eyes lightened at the offer. She motioned her way to the head of the table and we all sat down.

We all took part in small talk. We talked about our lives and the things that had changed from the past. Apparently, not a whole lot has changed according to Serenity.

Seleine turned toward Serenity. "Sister, the senshi are in dire need of training. The power they have now is no match for the dark queens of the past. Is there a place we might be able to train on the grounds?"

Serenity thought on it for a moment and informed Seleine of where we were to train. The food then came in and we all began eating. It was a magnificent feast. There were food on the table that I had never even heard of but was more than willing to eat. After our meal had been over, we all were exhausted and went to our rooms to rest.

That night I couldn't help myself from dreaming about the red-haired princess. I dreamed of her touch. I dreamed of her laugh and felt a pang in my stomach. I didn't want to admit it, but even now I was entirely infatuated with the princess. I only wanted her.

I woke up drenched in sweat. I ran my fingers through my hair attempting to calm my racing heart. I got up from my bed and strove to the balcony. I looked out and breathed in the fresh cold air. I looked down at the palace grounds when a vision crept into my mind. It was from the past. It was from when Seleine was turned dark and came to kill us all.

She killed Saturn first. My heart lurched as the vision unfolded in front of me. She killed everyone but Serenity, Endymion, her mother, and I. Beryl ordered Seleine to kill me. She turned toward me. She walked up to me, and I pleaded with her to stop. I wasn't going to strike her. Nothing in this world nor the next could ever make me strike her. I would gladly die before I ever harmed the love of my life. She held up her sword and was bringing it down when she gasped and clutched her heart. She dropped her sword and fell to the ground.

I dropped down to hold her in my arms. We pulled apart. "Uranus?" She said looking up at me. Tears spooled over her eyes as she realized what she had done. She let out a sob and crumpled to the ground.

"Dark one!" Beryl yelled. When Seleine didn't respond Beryl threw red mist at her. It was the longest ten seconds of my life. They were also the last ten seconds of my life. Seleine wasn't going to move, so I pushed her out of the way. The blast hit me, and my body turned to ash.

The vision finally released me, and I found myself in the courtyard where the last moments of my past life were.
