Chapter Twenty One

Seleine P.O.V.

I could kill my sister right now. Uranus and I were finally having our moment together. I had waited for this for so long. I could still feel her touch on my skin. My thigh burned just at the thought of all that could have happened. But I was also thankful that she interrupted us. Whether I liked it or not, Uranus and I were still cursed. If we wanted the world to survive in one piece, Uranus and I could never be together.

"What are you talking about?" Uranus asked.

Hearing Uranus speak snapped me back to reality.

Serenity turned toward me expectantly. I had no idea what was going on. "Seleine, I'm disappointed in you," she said with her hands on her hips. I sighed and tried to think about the holidays we celebrated. Mother loved having balls and inviting the surrounding kingdoms to see her beautiful palace.

"What day is it?" I turned to Uranus.

Uranus looked dumbfounded. Her eyes went blank as she began to think about the date. "It's September 17," she told me.

September 17. September 17. What day was that? I couldn't recall any holidays that my mother celebrated on that day. I turned to Serenity. She was grinning from ear to ear. That's when it dawned on me.

"It's your coronation day!" I screamed.

Her smile grew wider and she nodded. I jumped to her and enveloped her in an embrace. She held on to me as I felt the giddiness she once had surge through her.

"How long?" I asked pulling away from her.

She smiled again. "15,000 years," she said.

My jaw dropped. Oh, Goddess she was old. Her smile fell, and she narrowed her eyes at me. I took a step away from her fearing she would strike me.

She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Anyway, Uranus you must go. You must get ready for the ball. The guests will be arriving here any time, and I must get Seleine ready to greet the guests. I'm sure there will be lots of questions, so I must get her ready," she said walking into the powder room.

We both watched her leave. Eventually, I found the courage to face her once more. I looked up into her eyes and saw just as much awkwardness.

"I suppose you should go then," I said chuckling. Her cheeks flushed.

"I suppose I should," she said smiling. I walked her to the door. She stepped through the door and turned around to face me. I waited for something, anything. She bashfully attempted to put her hands in her pockets, but when she realized she was wearing a dress, she turned and began walking down the hallway.

I watched her walk down the hallway. Sadness crept into me as my shoulders fell. I turned back into my room and closed the door. I looked at my bed and replayed everything that just happened. A smile crept onto the corner of my mouth. Hope was seeping back into my heart. A strand of hair fell into my vision. I pushed it back when I heard a knock on my door.

I turned toward the door and opened it. Uranus was standing in the door. Surprise caught my face. Not at the fact she was there, but because she was so corny to come back. She grabbed my waist and pulled me to her. She pressed her mouth onto mine. I smiled deep into the kiss.

She pulled away grinning. Our foreheads were still touching. "Save me a dance," she said breathlessly then walked back down the hallway. I closed the door and leaned back against it. A smile filled my face.

Serenity came back into the room. "You guys are so cliché," she said grinning. My mouth fell open and I gasped.

"When did you become so evil?" I asked throwing a pillow at her.

She gasped and then began to giggle. "Well, you are!" She laughed. When she finally stopped laughing, she looked at me with soft eyes. "I'm so glad that you are happy. You of all people deserve to be happy."

Tears tickled the back of my eyes. "No! Don't cry! I need you to look your best!" Serenity screamed at me.

It had been two hours since the fight with Seleine. I was still very sore from the fight. Serenity's healers prepared a bath for me after the fight. It helped immensely, but I was still sore in some places. I could handle the physical toll the fight took upon me, but the mental toll was excruciating. I couldn't get the image of Small Lady out of my mind. She looked so pale in the vision. I know it wasn't real, but it was still terrible.

I looked back up and looked throughout the room. There were many people that I remember from the moon kingdom. Many of them were family members from the high council. I didn't know they survived after the last battle in the past. Maybe they fled just in time.

The sailor senshi were overwhelmed with meeting people from their planets. Saturn and I were the only ones that weren't greeted from our planets. Very few survived the attacks from the dark moon kingdom. All that survived from our planets were probably still in hiding.

Mercury was having quite the conversation with her people. Many people from Mercury had an affinity for science and healing. The nobles definitely were taken with her. I even heard a few of the nobles talking to their kin about possible marriages. Nobles know no shame.

Mars and Jupiter were having much the same discussions. On the planet Mars, they were the fighters. They often took part in duels. Of course, the majority of the people from Mars are hotheads. Same with the people from Jupiter. Only a handful of people from Jupiter could cook. The majority of them just really liked athletics. The people from Mars and Jupiter were either close friends or mortal enemies. Of course, there were never any wars between them. They just wouldn't speak for a few hundred years.

Uranus looked extremely uncomfortable. Women surrounded Uranus. Neptune stood nearby and looked extremely jealous. Neptune was surrounded by courtiers. Men and women alike were vying for her attention. As much as she liked being worshipped by the people, she couldn't get over the fact that one person in particular no longer worshipped her.

Neptunians and Martians are one in the same when it comes to jealousy. They both are extremely passionate and emotional. If something doesn't go their way, they tend to throw fits about it. Neptune never got jealous when she was in a relationship with Uranus, but now there's someone else in the picture, she's only ever angry.

The two haven't spoken in days. They'd never say it, but it's terribly difficult for them not to talk to one another. Even before they were in a relationship, they had been extremely close.

I was about to go save Uranus from the women when the room hushed. The lights over the ballroom dimmed only slightly. But the lights by the staircase stayed bright. Serenity descended the staircase from the left and Small Lady came from the right.

Serenity's dress was more extravagant than it was yesterday. Gone was the beautiful white dress she wore, now she was in a sparkly silver dress. This dress was a lot like Seleine's dress from yesterday. Her dress drooped down in the front to a v, but there was an almost see-through fabric covering the v with tiny diamonds encrusted in it. She wore the same crown as the day before with silver teardrop earrings with diamonds in the ends.

Small Lady was in a pink gown. It shined like her mother's but was quite modest. My heart squeezed at the sight of her. She was so much older than she was before. She'd grown into her hair and was much taller. She held her head high but smiled at her people. A tear fell down the side of my eye at the sight of her. I was so proud to see the young woman she had become.

The queen and the princess walked to their thrones. They sat down, and Serenity nodded her head and allowed the ball to continue. The council walked up to Serenity and spoke with her a few minutes. A familiar face crept into my view, but I couldn't place the face.

When the council stepped back down the room grew quiet again. Serenity stood up and waited for the crowd to settle. "Thank you all for coming to my annual coronation day. I have been crowned queen of the Moon Kingdom for 15,000 years. We have lived in peace in nearly 10,000 years. I hope with every piece of my heart and soul, that we continue to see many more.

"But not only is it my coronation day, but I would like to formally introduce you all to someone. This person protected us all. She fought in every battle in the past to protect us from those that wished us harm. I would like to introduce you to, my sister, Princess Seleine." She waved her hand and the doors atop the staircase opened.

I turned my head and there she was. My breath caught in my throat at the sight of her. She wore a black dress with threads the color of the senshi's colors curling up to the waist of her dress. Her dress was strapless with a sweetheart neckline. The bust of her dress was sparkly like Serenity's. Around her neck, she wore a necklace with a black diamond. Her ears were adorned with black diamond studs. Her hair was let loose and wavy. Atop her red hair, she wore a simple diamond tiara.

She began to descend the staircase. She looked amazing. The entire room was silent. It wasn't until she got to the end of the staircase that I saw Uranus was standing there waiting for her.

I was beyond ecstatic to see that Serenity wasn't going to force me into a dress. Instead of the royal blue dress she made me wear before, she gave me a black tux to wear. For once, I felt comfortable at a ball.

After entering the ball, memories of previous balls came into my mind. Every time we had a ball, Serenity's mother made me wear a dress. She had said, "You were born a girl. You will wear a dress like a proper girl." For some reason, Serenity decided to spare me.

When everyone silenced, Serenity and Small Lady came down. While everyone was watching them ascend their thrones, I was watching the staircase waiting for Seleine. I was about to turn away when I heard the end of Serenity's speech. I headed for the staircase and waited.

When the doors opened, and she walked down the staircase. I was struck in awe. She was so beautiful. Before I even knew it, I was escorting her down the final few stairs, then to the middle of the dancefloor. It was just she and I.

"You clean up nice," she said fixing my collar. I couldn't speak. All I could do was smile. My face was beginning to hurt from smiling so much, but I couldn't stop. In this very moment, there was nothing else. The Serenity from my time wasn't an issue. Seleine's father wasn't an issue. The moon queens from the past weren't an issue. All that was between us right now was us, at this moment.

Suddenly, music began to play. I grabbed her waist and she took my hand. We started dancing. The dance felt so familiar. It felt like I danced to this song a thousand times. Her warmth radiated throughout my body. I was swimming in those royal blue eyes that weren't like any others. I didn't know how I was breathing. I was so entranced by her beauty.

Our dancing started to slow down. Seleine crept up closer to me. Our bodies were touching. There was nothing in between us. Her breath was on my neck. All I wanted to do was pull her in my arms and kiss her. I didn't care about anything else as long as I had her. She began to stretch toward me, and I bent my head ready to kiss her.

"Mind if I cut in?" A voice said.

Seleine P.O.V.

I was getting very tired of these interruptions. Uranus and I were about to kiss in front of everyone. The world would finally know that it was Uranus and I. That we were meant to be.

I turned my head and I was about to yell at whoever interrupted us, but then I saw them. It was a tall man with olive skin and black hair. His eyes were icy blue, and he was clearly a noble.

"Kylian?" I squeaked.

He bowed to me. "It's been a long time Seleine," he said in a husky voice. The voice that I fell in love with. The voice that I thought was so sexy long ago. Before I knew it, he had pushed Uranus out of the way and pulled me into a dance. He pulled my body against his. I couldn't push him away. I was too stunned.

Someone clearing their throat interrupted our dance. I managed to look away from the man holding on to me to see Pluto standing there with her hands on her hips.

"Hello Kylian," she said icily. "I'm sorry to break this reunion, but Seleine has more guests to greet."

He held me tighter and straightened his back. When Pluto didn't back down, he loosened his grip. "Very well. Till we meet again," he said. Then he grabbed my hand and kissed it. Bile crept up my throat and my heart began beating fast.

He rolled his eyes over my body, and I just wanted to run. My feet were firmly planted in the spot, preventing me from running. He walked away, and Pluto turned me toward her.

Her eyes frantically searched me. When she saw no harm was done, she looked into my eyes. "Seleine? Seleine? Snap out of it. He's gone," she said. I couldn't breathe. The one person I never wanted to see ever again in my entire life just appeared in my life yet again.

Tears stained my vision so much that I didn't even realize that Pluto took me outside on the balcony for some air. Kunzite and Nephrite were outside with us. Nephrite was at the balcony doors making sure no one disturbed us. Kunzite was sitting beside me, keeping me from falling over.

"I'm going to run inside and tell Serenity. She would want to know that that bastard came back here after all these years. She'll be furious," she turned and began to walk away. I latched onto her wrist and pulled her to me.

She looked at me with concerned eyes. "I-I," I couldn't speak. My body was in complete shock. How was I supposed to process this after everything? My head was pounding, and my body was growing weak.

"She doesn't know, does she?" Pluto asked me softly.

I looked up at her as tears streamed down my face. The look on her face showed nothing but disappointment. I couldn't stop myself from collapsing into Kunzite and crying. My whole body was cold and shaking. My head continued to pound. My vision began to blur. Before I knew it, my vision faded into nothingness.
