Two hearts, one soul

Chapter 34

Approximately thirty minutes later, Andreas escorted Ana out the hotel and into his limo. While he slid next to Ana inside the car, she smiled nervously, and began to tug at the strap of her bag, like she always does when she was feeling extremely nervous. A sigh escaped her lips, her heart beating a hundred miles per hour, as she thought about Christian.

Oh, God… how will the reunion go?!' was what bounced inside her skull, not realizing that she was tugging at the bag so tightly.

Andreas' eyes landed on hers, the moment the driver started the limo. He cleared his throat, and placed a hand on Ana's wrist. "Miss Ana, are you alright?"

Her eyes fluttered shut for a moment, still tugging at the bag."Uhmm… I'm not so sure," Ana replied, and then opened her eyes." To be honest, I'm really nervous… I'm beyond excited and happy to see Christian again, but I don't know… I've got this gut feeling… I cannot explain…"

Andreas let out a deep breath, and locked eyes with Ana." I have to tell you something unnerving, Miss Ana…" he confessed, making her extremely anxious.

In her opinion, Parthenios' second in command looked very on edge and worried at the moment. It frightened Ana, because up until now the young man appeared calm and clearheaded, even during the whole Giorgos/ Parthenios ordeal. However, right now Andreas looked on edge and… even scared?!

Ana was afraid, feeling as if her heart couldn't take what he was about to tell her, and yet she nodded." Yes? What is it that you have to tell me, Mr. Liakos?" she asked, the tone of her voice a pitch higher, while it trembled slightly.

He cleared his throat and said. "You have to prepare yourself."

"For what?"

"When my men and I found Christian Grey, he was locked up in a cell… a cage." Andreas explained, making Ana gasp, while tears pooled in her eyes.

"No…" she whispered, and grabbed Andreas' hand for her comfort." You don't mean it…"

He nodded, and broke eye contact." I'm so sorry… but that's the truth… I didn't want to tell you that right away… I wasn't sure how to let you know about it."

Ana nodded, while attempting to push back her tears." Well, the important thing is that you've told me, Mr. Liakos." She replied." Thank you."

"I'm afraid that's not all, Miss Ana." He announced, and looked straight at her.

Ana shook her head, and prepared herself (her heart) for the worst." OK, I'm ready… what is it. Tell me, please?"

She wasn't sure if she wanted to know, afraid of what Andreas was going to tell her. However, if it involved Christian, Ana had to know!

"Aren't you curious where we are taking you, Miss Ana?" he asked.

She then looked out the window, and noticed that the limo driver was taking a road unfamiliar to Ana.

As she scrunched her brows together, Ana stared her eyes out." Whe… where are we going? Where are you taking me?"

He sighed deeply, and said." After we surrounded the cottage, where Christian Grey's ex-wife and her men had been keeping him, my men fought and overpowered them. After that, we found him in that cell… that cage," he began , but stopped his explanation to pour himself a drink." I'm so sorry, Miss Ana… I just need a drink… a strong one."

She had a feeling that what Andreas was about to tell her must be awful, the way his hands trembled slightly, while pouring the drink and also it trembled as he brought the glass towards his lips.

"Please, tell me Mr. Liakos!" Ana said, unable to handle the silence in the limo any longer.

He drank his scotch in one hit, and held his glass so tightly that his knuckles turned white." He uhmm… Mr. Christian Grey… when we found him, Mr. Grey was in uhmm… he was in his 'other' form." Andreas confessed, and attempted to swallow the lump in his throat." That's why we uhmm… we left him there."

Ana instantly pulled her hand back, as realization hit her." What?!" she shouted, and glared at the young man." You left him there? You left him a whole day in… in that hell hole! In that cage?! But why?!"

Andreas shook his head." We had no choice, Miss Ana… no matter what we said or did, Christian didn't turn back… he didn't turn back in his human form." He explained.

"So you left him there?" Ana asked, tears pooling in her pretty eyes, the disbelief on her face evident and clear.

He shook his head." I'm so sorry, Miss. We were terrified of him… we still are. We don't know how he will act, if we open the cage door…" Andreas pointed out." I'm their leader right now, and I made the decision to leave him. Try to understand, please? I can't bear it if my men got hurt, while opening said door for Christian in his 'other form'… I couldn't take that risk."

Ana then asked how he was able to prevent the authorities to find out about Christian in his inhuman form. Andreas explained to Ana that 'The Phoenixes' had their people high up, he was the Police commissioner. He was also a 'Phoenix' and made sure that only 'Phoenix' police detectives handled Christian's abduction case.

Ana was still pissed at Andreas, but fortunately was able to hold herself back. Instead of saying things to him that she might regret, Ana huffed loudly and glared at him." Just take me to Christian, alright? We have to get him out of that hell hole right away."

He nodded, and ordered the driver to step on the gas.

Ana sat silently in the limo after that, while looking out the window. She knew why Andreas took the decision of not unlocking the cage… he wasn't sure how Christian was going to act towards his men… and yet, she was angry with him for making that decision… for letting her loved one stay in said cage.

After the 45-minute drive, they finally reached their destination." This is the place, Miss Ana… we just have to take a 10 minute walk and we're at the cabin." Andreas informed her.

She nodded, and impatiently stepped out the limo, as the driver opened the door for her.

Ana walked next to the temporarily leader of 'the Phoenixes' on the small path, two of Andreas' men on their heels. They were his security detail.

As the house came into view, Ana's heart began to thump wildly against her chest.

Christian…

One of the men opened the door, so Andreas offered Ana his hand, and led her inside. The house was small, but when they reached a bedroom, Andreas opened a secret door, and that's when they walked into a narrow tunnel.

Ana's hand began to tremble heavily, the anticipation killing her…

Christian.

Ana had missed him so much, and at the moment she wasn't sure in which state she was going to find him… Andreas and his men were afraid… afraid of Christian… they were terrified of 'the monster'.

However, Ana wasn't…

She, Ana Steele, was not afraid of the man she loved with all her heart. She couldn't wait to see him, and began to walk faster.

"We're almost there, Miss Ana." She heard Andreas say.

And at that very moment, she felt as if she was in a daze, a momentary 'trance', where Ana began to sprint instead of walk. Andreas and one of the guards called out to her, attempting to warn her, but she was far too gone to listen.

As Ana turned the corner of the tunnel, and saw the cage, she made a run for it. It was then, when she saw him…

He was in his 'other form'.

Christian…

Ana was just about to reach the metal bars, when Andreas grabbed and pulled her to him.

"Christian." She whimpered, as a hot tear rolled down her cheek.

At that moment the 'monster' growled and snarled at her, the sound so loud and bone-chilling, making Ana gasp aloud.

"Christian…" she said, and began tugging her arm from Andreas' tight grip.

"Miss Ana... no, stop it. Listen for a minute." She heard him say, but all she was able to do right now was to look up at Christian's other form.

"Baby… it's me. I've come back for you." She commented, and then when she realized that Andreas wasn't letting her go, her eyes flew in the young man's direction, and Ana glared up at him.

"Let me go!" She snapped, and tugged on his grip once more." Andreas!"

The temporarily leader of 'the Phoenixes' shook his head, his grip on her upper arm still tight." I must show you something first, Miss Ana." He pointed out," And then I can let you go."

Ana huffed at him, but then her eyes darted towards Christian. He was still growling loudly, his yellow eyes glowing dangerously.

She closed her eyes for a few moments, and then nodded. "Fine… show me."

At that, Andreas led Ana a few meters back from the cage. She looked up at him questioningly, so the young man pulled a big envelope out of his suit pocket.

"My men found these, when we overpowered Leila and her thugs." He commented, and gave Ana the contents of said envelope.

As her eyes landed on the items, Ana's breath caught in her throat.

"Oh, my God…" were the words that tumbled from her lips, when she saw all the photos.

At that moment, realization hit her like a ton of bricks…

"We think that Leila showed Christian these photos...," Andreas pointed out.

Ana gasp and said." Nooo… that means that Christian thinks that I betrayed him by kissing Adon at the party…"

Andreas nodded at that." Yes, we think so too."

She shook her head." It wasn't mutual… he kissed me! I didn't want him to do that… I think he's a freaking creepy pervert!" Ana remarked." But why?"

Andreas had his suspicions why Christian's employee had done this, but he didn't have the proof yet… so, he just shook his head." I don't know, Miss Ana."

'But I will find out, believe me…' Andreas thought.

He also had a gut feeling that 'the mastermind' responsible for Christian's kidnapping, had also used Giorgos as a pawn. He just had to put his resources into it to find out more...

Ana looked at the photo, where Adon and she were having lunch." I didn't wanna go to that lunch either, but Adon insisted and my boss, Mr. Walker, forced me to go with him." She explained.

"Why is Adon holding you like that in this photo?" Andreas asked.

"I just found out that Christian was missing… JERK! Adon did that on purpose, so his thugs could make a photo of us like that." Ana hissed, while clenching her left hand into a fist.

Andreas nodded." So Leila could show Christian this photo of you and Adon together…" he commented.

"Yes…" Ana whimpered.

Her eyes fluttered shut, and then she said." Christian thinks I betrayed his trust."

Andreas let out a deep breath and watched Ana." I'm so sorry, Miss Ana… however, I still think that you are the one to bring him back from the state that he's in right now... only you can make him change back into his human form," He stated." That is why I brought you here."

Ana frantically shook her head, and opened her eyes." Nooo… I cannot face him. He thinks that I betrayed him…" she said, her voice breaking in the end, as tears pooled in her eyes.

Andreas gave her a serious look and grabbed her firmly on both her upper arms, his eyes attempting to catch Ana's gaze." Miss Ana, look at me." He demanded.

She shook her head, and sobbed loudly.

"I said look at me, Miss Ana!" Andreas ordered.

(It was no coincidence that Parthenios had chosen him to be his second in command: Andreas knew how to handle all kinds of stressful situations)

"No." she replied, her voice small.

"Yes! You will look at me." He demanded.

At that, Ana sobbed, her lips trembling, and locked her eyes on his.

"Miss Ana… you can do this. I know it. I believe in you. You can help him change back into his human form. Just believe in yourself… cause I do, and so do the rest of 'the Phoenixes'. "Andreas said, attempting to convince her.

"I'm ashamed…" She replied.

At that, he gripped her tighter on her upper arms." You did nothing wrong, Miss Ana. This was done to you and Christian… by evil people. People who for some reason hate 'the Niarxos' bloodline." Andreas pointed out, then he clenched his jaw, while trying his very best not to lose it. (he was truly pissed off at their enemy right now)" They meticulously planned all of this. I assume this was planned by them for years… They've executed this attack on not only you and Christian, but also on our fearless leader, Parthenios. My men and I, we will not stand by and watch them destroy our own."

Ana sobbed softly, as those words tumbled from his lips. "At the party, where Adon kissed me… I said some things about Christian… cruel and harsh things." She pointed out." But I di…"

Andreas cut her off." But you didn't mean them… it's OK, Miss Ana. I'm sure that you said those things because you were angry. Christian must know that you didn't mean any of that."

"But why? Why is Christian staying in his inhuman form? Do you know?" she asked, looking at Andreas.

He nodded." I was wondering also. So I asked and I was informed by my advisers that it's some kind of defense mechanism." Andreas pointed out." One of my men had seen it before... it happened to Parthenios' father, years ago. They stay in that state to defend themselves against outside forces who want to harm them."

Ana shook her head." But uhmm… he's safe now. He has seen you and the other 'Phoenixes', right?" she said." Why hasn't he turned back yet?"

"I don't know, Miss Ana. I've spoken almost an hour to him, and yet he stays in his inhuman form. I brought Calinico, the man who raised him and Elena, his best friend, but we've all failed. He stays in this form; doesn't change back." Andreas confessed." So… that leaves you, Miss Ana… you are the love of his life— his soul mate."

As those last words reached her ears, Ana felt a gnawing, sharp ache cutting at the center of her soul. She sobbed, and broke eye contact with Andreas." You really believe in me, do you?" Ana asked, her voice trembling.

Andreas nodded firmly, and caught her gaze." Yes! I believe you are his savior… it's that simple, Miss Ana."

At that, she nodded, her eyes teary.

"Are you ready?" he asked, and smiled at Ana.

"Yes, I am. I'm ready. It's no coincidence that I was brought to Tinos. Christian and I, we're meant to be, Andreas." She said confidently, and walked in the direction of the cage where Christian (still in his inhuman form) was held captive.

Andreas and six of his men watched, as Ana walked over to 'the monster'. They were there each with a tranquilizer gun, in case something went wrong. (Meaning: if 'the monster' would attack Ana)

She smiled through her tears, and said." Hi sweetie… I've come back for you."

The monster snarled and roared at her, and yet she bravely unlocked the wide metal door." I'm not afraid of you… you are gentle," Ana said, and clicked the lock open." You are kind, and compassionate," she pointed out, her eyes locked on him. "You are the man that I love with my whole heart and soul…"

As she swung the door open, the monster roared loudly, his eyes yellow and he held one arm up, his dangerous, sharp claws in the air.

Ana was afraid of the monster, not of Christian. And yet, she pushed forward. She was shaking uncontrollably, her heart rate kicking up five notches, her chest heaving. And yet, Ana bravely dared to close the gap between them and locked her eyes onto the monster's yellow ones. He was panting and growling, but instead of running away, she reached out to him, standing so close to him, their bodies barely a few inches apart.

The monster huffed and snarled at her, but with a trembling hand Ana reached out and touched his face.

"I'm here… I love you so much, Christian… I'm so sorry that I left you that night in your hotel room, after my ex had shot you." She said softly, and let her fingertips collide with his hard, distorted face." I should've never left… I should've stayed with you…"

There it was once more, as she traced his hard face with her fingers… that wonderful, heart-stopping tingle…

The monster roared, and yet she smiled through her tears." I love you, Christian Grey… I want to spend the rest of my life with you." She told him, and gasped softly at the tingling sensation that went from her fingers to her head and her toes.

"I love you and I want to have your babies..." She confessed boldly.

As those words tumbled from her lips, 'the monster' took a step back, but Ana shook her head and closed the gap again, making him roar and snarl. Instead of pulling her hand back, she kept caressing his hard face. Ana did that slowly, showing him that she loved him dearly...

Her fingers traced his warm, almost hot cheek, and she noticed how he was holding in his breath. At that, Ana grabbed the opportunity to boldly cup his face with both her hands. She stared into his golden eyes intensely; her fingers slowly tracing his lips, her fingers trembling, while she whimpered softly. The sound that escaped her lips was not loud, but the monster heard it very clearly.

At that, his eyes fluttered shut, and FINALLY he stopped growling and was quiet. He reveled at her soft caress, while making a soft sound... (was he purring?!)

"I know you've seen those photos, but believe when I say that I did not betray you, Christian. I would never," Ana confessed, tears spilling from her eyes." I'm here to stay... I love you, and I will never leave you again, my love."

As those words reached the monster, he slowly changed back to Christian. When she noticed it, Ana smiled happily and turned her face towards Andreas and his men.

They all let out the breath that they had been holding and smiled, relief appearing on their faces.

Ana turned her face back towards Christian, and locked eyes with him.

'The monster' had changed back into human Christian completely…

He looked lovingly at Ana, and smiled through his tears. She smiled widely and that's when he pulled her in a tight embrace.

"I will nev… never let you go again, my whirlwind." She heard Christian say, while he hugged her so tightly, making Ana sob softly from happiness.

After a few moments, he pulled away from the warm hug and stared down at Ana, his gray eyes sparkling like stars.

She nodded and so Christian gently let their lips collide, the kiss so powerful and magical, Ana swore it made angels cry…
