another chapter!! woo!!

if u think that it will have consistent uploads then ur wrong

and I've decided that the Player, Asterlii, is gonna be a they/them. Because I don't want to give them a gender, their just the player.

And another problem i ran into is the fact that you can hide accessories and armor, don't know how i can like negate the fact that people could be wearing armor secretly.

When I woke up, I could hear the soldiers outside training in what I presume is an arena of some kind.

The Guide was still sleeping, quite opposite to the one I had grew to know.

I left the room to see what was happening outside, after all, we are leaving at midday and probably won't see Silma again.

The noise grew louder and louder as the crowd cheered on the gladiators.

"So what's all this commotion about?" I asked myself while I marbled at the glory of the massive arena.

The town seemed more lively than yesterday, and I could practically feel the warmth radiating from the wooden houses, but the air was fresh and cool.

A breeze of wind caught a conversation.

"Another one of those pesky new guards, huh?" I overheard, I could literally feel them staring at me, "Although I haven't seen them with armor or weapons."

"Maybe they aren't guards?" Another responded, "They do sound very posh but maybe they are distant travelers."

"No traveler would want to come here!"

"Meh meh meh" The boy imitated, "If we really want to know, then we should ask them."

"Do you think that they would even bother listening to us?"

"They will after we win the tournament."

I walked over to them and saw 3 teenagers, they looked normal, if you didn't count the thousands of scars and the weathered look on their faces.

And I suddenly remember something from my history book.

Knights in the Middle Ages

At the age of 6, the young noble will leave their castle and become a page, to learn how to behave among noblemen and women.

At the age of 14, they will become a squire.

In this role, they will have to begin a grueling physical and military training under the supervision of a knight (master).

If they demonstrate the values of a knight, they will be knighted at the age of 20 in a large ceremony.

A knight's activities

A knights main activity is war. They must be prepared to withstand their enemies.

In times of piece, they train by taking part in tournaments and jousting, as well as hunting.

Courtly love

A knight needs to treat ladies with respect. They were expected to treat ladies as vassals would to their lord.

The 3 teens were at the end of the knight's line.

The other teens all looked like princes.

"Hey." I tapped the shoulder of the blond one. "What's this arena?"

"Who the hell are you?" He half-shouted, only receiving angry glares from other knights, who clearly did not want to associate with him.

He retaliated and said in a softer tone, "Sorry about my behavior to you, this is the arena that we are gonna fight."

"Fight for what?"

"To get elected to one day fight Qera."

"Qera?"

His 2 friends turned around and smiled mischievously, but pretended they didn't hear us.

"Qera is the evil demon that has many minions trying to conquer the world."

"Oh." I didn't know how to respond, I wasn't good at small talk, "So... What's your name?"

"My name is Oliver." He answered.

I grinned, "Nice to meet you."

I sat at one of the front rows of the arena, it was practically empty, mostly family members excited to watch their child fight.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen!" The announcer spoke, "Today, we will be electing the new crimson knights!"

I took a glance at the other people who were all clapping and cheering, crimson knight must mean something important.

Suddenly, the arena door opened and a squire stood with a staff in hand.

"What a strange weapon for a knight..."

"Huh?" I turned around. And I saw Seth, the Guide.

We shared a look and focused our attention to the teen.

"Here, our first contestant is Adrall Wertan."

A bell rung across the stadium and 5 eaters of souls was released.

Albeit it was an easy enemy, the squires haven't prepared well, they only had a weapon and no armor, not even the most basic wooden armor.

I knew that it wasn't going to end well, but I couldn't just shoot it with my Daedalus Stormbow, I would cause a huge commotion and probably be arrested for carrying a dangerous weapon.

So I watched.

He lifted his emerald staff and the intricate designs of his staff glittered with glory as he shoot a green bolt towards the monsters.

But only 2 were hit, the rest flew high and started circling around him.

He froze and was distraught when he realized all of them were still alive.

What had they taught the kids? That the monsters were a oneshot kill?

It felt like it was his first time outside, he was one of the rich kids, that got to stay home all day.

The eater of souls were the most common enemy in the corruption, they were a bit tricky when many of them are all targeting one person.

Although using broadswords made it easy, because of their long range and the ability to cut through stuff.

But Adrall was a mage, it was practically impossible to defeat them without good agility and dodging skills.

The Eaters of souls charged in without mercy, their inner fangs opened and were ready to bite him.

Adrall shot a smaller eater and bonked another with his staff, he threw his hero shield at its mouth but he missed and suddenly the whole crowd stopped cheering.

The young boy was on the ground and the eaters had their attention on someone else.

They started chasing me.

chp3 is probably gonna be made a bit quicker, because this is the first ever conflict arc that I've ever written that is probably gonna be split into 'parts', and I'm actually excited!!
