how to write a good character arc

This is my first time getting invested into the characters of my story.

and I somehow always end up writing super weird stuff or angst, so I'm very sorry in advance.

And a little side note here;

1 terraria block = 2 feet or 1 meter

I'm not American, so I'll assume that terraria people talk about things in blocks, and 1 block is 1 meter.

and velocity is mph (stopwatch says so)

The sun rises everyday.

No matter what world I'm in, no matter where I live, it always rises.

And today was no different.

Well... I woke up to 2 angry faces demanding an explanation of my 'wings'.

"The work of magic."

"Like my mana...?"

"No, crafting and magic."

"Like my staff?"

"Basically, yeah."

"No! Basically no." Seth interjected, "The wings are on another level, the little details of every weave and the way magic flows through the feathers is amazing!" He took a deep breath, "And how the wings translucency is proof of the craftsman's skill."

"I am indeed very skilled." I teased lightly, Adrall immediately asked me to make something for him, I instead summoned the flying piggy bank. "I think I have something in here for you is you're able to use mana."

I pulled out a safe from the flying piggy bank, and found a Raven Staff in there.

"For you, I won't be teaching you how to use it though." I put back the safe into the piggy bank, "M'not a teacher."

"Before anything, are going to Allion." Seth crosses his arms and stared at us like a parent, Adrall looked disappointed in the staff, it was a bit jagged and it looked old but mine also looks like that! "It's way too dangerous out here."

Adrall started packing up, "So what are we waiting for?"

"We don't know where we are," I also crossed my arms, "And I don't know the directions."

Seth sighed, "We'll follow the main road."

"Ah." I search through my inventory once again, searching for the good old blessed apple, "How long will it take?"

"To arrive there? At least a couple weeks."

"What if we had a horse?"

"...A couple weeks."

"What if we had a very fast unicorn?"

"... Still a couple weeks."

He showed me an old, handmade map, and every country and major city was on there, and something scribbled in black ink under each name.

"Star, we can also go to Lipia, the sister town of Silma." Seth looked at Adrall, who frowned at the mention of his town's name. "It's closer and nicer than Silma."

I looked at the map again, "Uhh... What does that say?"

Adrall shot a confusing glare at me and Seth's presence alone made my skin crawl, he probably assumed that I just knew the language.

"Are you actually serious?"

"Weird symbols."

"You can't read?"

"I guess not."

"How did you read the introduction pamphlet?"

"You were reading it out loud, well not very loud..."

The clogs in both their brains stopped functioning.

I tried to break the tension, "So I guess we are going to Lipia before Allion."

The journey to Lipia was a bit tougher than we anticipated, some 200 thousand blocks of walking and some accidents on the way there.

"WHY DO ALL THE SLIMES ALWAYS COME TO US?!" Seth yelled at the sky, as if the gods above were listened to him, "Honestly, at these point I might need to learn how to use a sword."

"It's because we upset Maolin, the protector of nature."

"Eh..." I realized that the Beetle armor attracted enemies, so I switched it to Shroomite armor. "Oops."

The slimes immediately started wandering off, the two others stared at me and decided not to question me.

"I learned so much!" Adrall and Seth were caught in their own little world while I cooked tomorrow's lunch, "You should always talk about interesting stuff like that."

Seth made a noise, Adrall smiled "Because then you'll be cooler!"

"Can you just shut up and sleep?"

"But Star isn't sleeping, why should I?"

I sighed, "I would sleep but this is more important."

"What's so important?"

"The constellations in the sky."

"You're a mysterious guy." Adrall pouted, "I seriously don't understand you."

I looked at the many stars, "Once upon a time, I wanted to survive."

"Huh?"

"But sometimes I wonder..." Our gaze met each other, "I wonder what it's like to live."

"Yeah, it's confirmed, I cannot understand you."

"And you don't need to."
