Chapter 5: New House, New Start.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!

"How are the kids doing?" Kagome asked sitting up in the hospital bed.

"They are doing okay, my mom has them. Aya is having a blast but Hiro keeps asking about you." Yuka said.

Kagome sighed. "What about dad? Is he still in prison?"

"Yeah, he still behind bars, but there's word that he's working on getting out. By this time next week he'll be out."

Before Kagome could say anything the door opened revealing the doctor. "How we doing this morning."

"I'm doing ok, still sore." Kagome answered.

The doctor nodded. "It looks like your heartrate went up some last night." He said looking at her charts.

"Oh, umm, I just had a nightmare. It's nothing." Kagome explained hoping that they wouldn't keep her there any longer.

"Well, everything looks fine. All your vitals are stable so I see no reason that you can't go home. I'll go get your discharge papers printed and you'll be on your way."

"Okay, thank you doctor." Kagome was glad she was going to get out, she hated hospitals.

"Mommy!" Hiro called running into Kagome's arms. She then plucked Aya out of Yuka's mom's arms and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you for watching them for me." Kagome said.

"No problem, dear." Yuka's mom answered.

"Okay, well, I'm going to go pack up some and order some plane tickets." Kagome hugged both of the women goodbye.

"Oh, by the way. Here, I know it's not your birthday for another couple of months but I won't see you for your 17th birthday." Yuka said handing her the gift.

Kagome unwrapped it, inside was a picture frame that said best friends forever. It was a picture of both of them right after she gave birth to Aya. Yuka was holding Aya and Hiro was looking at his new baby sister with a smile on his face. Kagome teared up and threw her arms around Yuka. "Thank you! I'm going to miss you!"

"I'll miss you, too." Yuka cried.

*Break*

Kagome was standing outside her parents house door, breathing hard, afraid to open it and go in.

"Mommy," Hiro said tugging on Kagome's hand. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, mommy is okay. Let's get in and get out. We are moving to a better place."

Kagome took a deep breath and opened the door. Everything looked the same-as if nothing ever happened. She found her money bag laying on the coffee table, along with her mother's purse. She walked to her room, grabbed a bag and threw what little clothes she had in it. Then did the same for her kids clothes. She then went into her parents room and grabbed her father's wallet taking his credit card. She went back into the living room and went through her mother's purse finding a wad of cash in it. She shoved her money bag along with the wad of cash in her back pack.

Once she had everything that was worth taking, she made the walk to the nearest ATM and drained her father's entire bank account. She hailed a taxi and was soon on her way to the airport.

When they arrived Kagome saw the next flight was for Chicago so she bought three tickets then went to wait to bored the plane.

"Flight for Chicago ready to bored." Kagome heard on the intercom. Standing up with her one bag swung over her shoulder, Aya on her hip and Hiro's hand in hers, she made her way to bored the plane.

*Break*

Kagome sighed taking her first step in America. She was scared out of her mind! She didn't know where to go or what to do. She started to walk and soon she was standing in front of a newspaper stand, paying for one she started flipping through it and saw a four bedroom for sale. She walked to a payphone, thinking how glad she was that she took English lessons.

"Hello?" A voice picked up.

"Yes, hello. I was calling about your house for sale and was wondering if I could look at it." Kagome answered.

"Ah, yes, what time do you want to look at it?"

"Um, as soon as possible." Kagome confirmed.

"How about in an hour?"

"Perfect! See you then!" Kagome said.

Kagome hailed a cab and was on her way to the house.

*Break*

"Here's the kitchen, living room, bathroom and laundry room." The homeowner said in a bored tone. "The four bedrooms are right this way up the stairs." He said as he walked up the stairs to show Kagome. "The master bedroom has a bathroom attached to it. There is also a half bath up her too."

Kagome loved the house and wanted if for her and the kids. "I would like to buy this house, please."

"Wait, your buying it? I thought you were just looking at it for your parents. How old are you?" The homeowner asked.

"I'm 16, but I'm emancipated from my parents-and I have the cash." Kagome said taking out wads of money.

The homeowner's jaw dropped but shrugged and took the money. "Okay, well you'll have to sign some paperwork."

"Okay, no problem" Kagome smiled feeling very accomplished and proud of herself.

With all the paperwork filled out-Kagome was now the proud owner of a house! "Now time for shopping!" Kagome squealed, she always loved a good shop and figured that she would start with the bedrooms first.

Please review. Until next time, bye!
