Chapter 16: It's Going to Take Time.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!
Kagome and Sango walked in the house as Inuyasha was coming down the stairs.
"What happened!?" Inuyasha yelled running towards Kagome making her flinch. He grabbed her face gently between his hands tilting her face so he could have a better look. She had gotten a bloody nose, busted lip, her right eyebrow had a cut and she had a black eye. She also had bruises on her arms, stomach and legs but he wasn't focused on anything but her face.
"Your bitch of an ex-girlfriend and her two goons jumped Kagome while we were separated looking for dresses for the dance." Sango yelled.
"She told me to stay away from you." Kagome whispered and looked at the floor.
Inuyasha growled making Kagome's eyes go wide as he drugged her to the kitchen where his mother, father and brother was.
Iziyoi just finished wiping down the cabinets when she turned around and saw Kagome's face. She gasped and dropped the rag she was using. "Kagome, dear, what happened?" She said making Taisho and Sesshomaru look up from their news papers. Iziyoi ran over grabbed Kagome's hand sitting her down in a chair. "Inuyasha, go get the first aid kit for me please." Inuyasha left the room while Sango sat beside Kagome explaining what happened to Kagome.
"Here you go mom." Inuyasha returned handing his mom the first aid kit as Sesshomaru sighed and put his newspaper down.
"I've never been to fond of Kikyo." Sesshomaru said. "She only wanted to be with my brother for her image and his money."
Kagome gasped. "That's awful."
"Yeah that's Kikyo. She didn't even like the fact I'm half-demon. She was always looking for a way to turn me human. She detested my demon side." Inuyasha said in disgust. "But I was blinded by that fact that I loved her and I thought she loved me."
Kagome had tears in her eyes. "Oh, Inuyasha, I'm so sorry that happened to you. And for what it's worth, I like you just the way you are." Kagome said with a blush on her cheeks. Making Inuyasha's heart do flips.
*Break*
Kagome's kids were tucked in their new beds in their new rooms. They had their dinner, baths, teeth brushed and Kagome read them each a book. Before Sango came to pick her up to go to her old house to pack her and the kid's clothes, toys and whatever else she wanted to take with her. She decided that since it was late that they would come tomorrow to pick everything up. However she did get a box of her clothes and a box of the kids clothes so they will have something to wear tomorrow.
Once Kagome walked into her new room she sighed falling face first on her new bed. She was almost asleep when she heard a soft knock on the door. "Come in." She mumbled.
Kagome heard the door open and close before she felt the bed dip as if someone had sat down on it. She tensed up and the person immediately got off the bed.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha whispered, Kagome still had her face buried in the mattress. "Are you okay?"
Kagome tried to release the tension in her muscles. Inuyasha patiently waited as he watched as she slowly started to relax. Kagome sighed sitting up on her knees with her head bowed. She took a deep breath and moved to sit on the edge of the bed. Still looking down she patted the bed beside her.
Inuyasha slowly walked and gently sat on the bed. He watched as Kagome tensed up again. He stayed perfectly still hardly even breathing waiting for her to be comfortable with him sitting next to her.
Slowly Kagome relaxed again and she looked up. "I'm sorry." She whispered.
"There's nothing to apologize for." Inuyasha whispered back.
Kagome sighed and shot off the bed making Inuyasha jump for a change. He watched as she started to pace the room with her hands balled up. "Yes there is! I'm so tired of being scared all the time! I just want to be happy and not jumping at every sound or touch!"
Inuyasha slowly stood up reaching out grabbing Kagome's shoulders making her flinch, he quickly let her go. Kagome growled in frustration. "I just don't want to be scared anymore!" Kagome sobbed falling on her hands and knees. "I just want the fear to go away." She whispered.
Inuyasha kneeled on the floor in front of her. "Kagome?" He whispered.
"Please make it go away."
Inuyasha slowly reached out placing a hand on Kagome's shoulder, satisfied that she didn't jump. Kagome surprised him by launching herself in his arms. "Kagome?"
"Please make it go away." Kagome cried. Inuyasha's arms slowly wrapped around her and held her tight.
"I'll do everything I can to make you happy, Kagome, I promise." Inuyasha whispered. "Let's get you in bed. We've got school tomorrow." Inuyasha said before tucking her in to bed and walking to the door to go to his own room.
Before he could make it to the door, Kagome grabbed his hand. "Please stay with me?"
Inuyasha's eyes got wide. "Are you sure?"
Kagome nodded. "I don't want to be alone."
Inuyasha nodded crawling in bed with her but didn't touch her until he felt her curl up next to him. He curled his arms around Kagome and pulled her close. She sighed before falling asleep.
*Break*
"Kagome, I told you there's nothing to apologized for." Inuyasha said for the hundredth time that morning. She had a panic attack in the morning and slapped him before falling off the bed.
"But-" Kagome started.
"No buts, Kagome, I'm fine. It's going to be work but we are moving at your pace! What you're comfortable with." Inuyasha said. "We should probably hold off at sharing a bed for awhile though." He added with a toothy grin making Kagome smile and nod. Before they left for school.
