Finally/beautiful stranger
"Well if it isn't my favorite little customer." Stacie Conrad smirked as she welcomed the newest person to sit at the bar.
"If it ain't my favorite girl." Beca Mitchell said with a wink as she greeted back.
Stacie narrowed her eyes "Are only saying that because I serve you generously?"
Beca brought her hand up to her chest as if she was offended "Of course not. I'll have you know that I love your presence."
Stacie chuckled at her antics "Ok I'll believe you. So what can I get you today?"
"Surprise me." Beca smiled.
Stacie nodded as she went to work. She knew how Beca's preferred choice was tequila, so she grabbed a bottle of tequila started mixing. After a few she approached Beca and placed the drink in front of her with a grin.
"What's this?" Beca asked with a smile.
"La Paloma." Stacie said in perfect Spanish.
"Say that again." Beca said leaning closer.
Stacie smirked and leaned closer as well "La Paloma." She said quietly and softly.
Beca smiled "No idea what that is but it sounds great when you say it." She winked and leaned back.
Stacie winked back "It's tequila mixed with lime juice, a pinch of salt and topped off with grapefruit soda. A strong drink for a strong woman." Stacie said.
Beca smiled and took a sip letting the flavors settle.
"Every time you make me something it becomes my new favorite. You are a gift." Beca said.
"Glad to be of service." Stacie said with a dramatic bow.
A few minutes pass by with Stacie attending the other bar goers and Beca sipping on her drink watching the taller girl work. To say Beca was infatuated would be short of the truth. She wasn't sure why but there was something about Stacie that made her gravitate towards her. Beca didn't know if it was the personality, the looks, how conversations just seem to be easy and natural or how she handled herself, she just knew she was attracted to her.
Beca got lost in her head for a bit until she got whipped by a towel.
"Ow dude." Beca said rubbing her arm.
Stacie laughed "Listen to me! I was asking if there's any chance of you singing tonight. It's open mic night." Stacie said with a nod of the head pointing towards the mic and few different instruments.
Beca shrugged "Probably not. Singing ain't really my thing."
"Oh, come on, it's fun and I've never heard you sing. Even I've done it." Stacie said.
Beca chuckled "Stacie, it'd take more than a few drinks to get me there." Beca joked pointing towards the mic.
Stacie pouted "You suck." She said as she headed to tend to a customer who called for her.
Beca shook her head at the cute pout Stacie put on display and checked her phone. She noticed some emails and texts from coworkers asking about her opinions on some stuff. As she scrolled through her phone, she came across her notes and one note caught her attention. She looked it over and then back towards Stacie.
"Fuck it." She said under her breath as she walked towards the makeshift stage and talked to the DJ who was next to the mic.
"Want a go?" The guy asked.
Beca nodded "Yup."
"Knock yourself out." The man said stepping aside.
"Thanks." Beca said walking up and grabbing the guitar. She analyzed it and tuned it to her liking before she patted the mic catching everyone's attention.
"Hey guys." Beca said taking a breath and looking towards the bar catching Stacie's eye who was shocked but smiling.
"Not really sure what to say but I'm Beca and this is a little something I put together. So, hope you enjoy." She said awkwardly.
She started strumming the guitar softly as she gave a quick soft hum while looking at Stacie.
"Your eyes, so crystal green
Sour apple baby, but you taste so sweet
You got hips like Jagger and two left feet
And I wonder if you'd like to meet
Your voice is velvet through a telephone
You can come to mine
But both my roommates are home
Think I know a bar
Where they would leave us alone
And I wonder if you'd take it slow."
Beca sang softly smiling towards Stacie the whole time who had a smile still on her face and amazed at Beca's voice.
"Oh, we're dancing in my living room
And up come my fists
And I say, "I'm only playing"
But the truth is this
That I've never seen a mouth
That I would kill to kiss
And I'm terrified, but I can't resist
And I say
Beautiful stranger
Here you are in my arms and I know
That beautiful strangers
Only come along to do me wrong
And I hope, beautiful stranger
Here you are in my arms
But I think it's finally
Finally, finally, finally, finally safe
For me to fall."
Beca sang keeping her soothing and calm melody matching with steady pace of the guitar.
"Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh."
She softly sang out in a hum like melody. Several people at the bar started swaying side to side enjoying the slow melody. Even Stacie found herself moving side to side a bit.
"I grab your hand and then we run to the car
Singing in the street and playing air guitar
Stuck between my teeth just like a candy bar
And I wonder if it goes too far to say
I've never recognized a purer face
You stopped me in my tracks
And put me right in my place
Used to think that loving
Meant a painful chase
But you're right here now
And I think you'll stay."
Beca started to tap her foot in a beat to go along with the guitar and people caught on as they started to follow her steps and tap there foot as well.
"Oh, we're dancing in my living room
And up come my fists
And I say, "I'm only playing"
But the truth is this
I've never seen a mouth
That I would kill to kiss
And I'm terrified, but the truth is this
I say."
Beca put a little bit more bass in her voice for this part as she knew the song was coming to an end. That extra bass in her voice made Stacie even more mesmerized with Beca's voice and she decided there she could listen to this girl song every day and be happy.
"Beautiful stranger
Here you are in my arms and I know
That beautiful strangers
Only come along to do me wrong and I hope
Beautiful stranger, here you are in my arms
And I think it's finally
Finally, finally, finally, finally safe
For me to fall."
Beca sang smiling and looking at everyone in the bar.
"Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Yeah, I think it's finally
Finally, finally, finally."
She finished softly and strummed the last few notes before being surprised by the loud ovation she got. The claps and whistles she received shocked her and made her a bit embarrassed, so she quickly thanked them and placed the guitar back on its holder before walking back to her vacated seat at the bar.
She looked up and saw Stacie just staring at her in amusement.
"Dude say something. The staring is starting to creep me out." Beca said.
Stacie smiled "I didn't know you can sing."
Beca shrugged "I mean I work for a record label, so you know."
"You what!?" Stacie shouted startling Beca and a few other people.
Beca looked around quickly before shushing the girl "I work for a record label ok."
Stacie sent a quick apology then leaned closer to Beca "But you said singing isn't your thing." She said quickly.
Beca nodded "It's not. I produce and write."
Stacie blinked a few times not knowing what to say.
"So, I technically didn't lie." Beca smirked.
Stacie swatted Beca with the towel once more "Fuck you Mitchell."
Beca laughed "I mean you never asked what I did for a living."
"Uh your right." Stacie said as she thought on that topic.
Stacie leaned closer once more "Than I guess we'll have to go out and learn more about one another."
Beca smirked "Did you listen to a word I just sung?"
"I did but you didn't actually ask me. You just sang about your feelings." Stacie smirked back.
"Well played Conrad." Beca chuckled.
"So? A date where we learn about one another without me having to serve people drinks?" Stacie asked.
Beca nodded "Of course beautiful."
