Strangers

"Alright Beca whenever you're ready." CR said as Beca was in the booth ready to record a new song she'd written that no one knew about.

Beca gave her a nod and CR started up the beat Beca had created a few hours before.

"She doesn't kiss me on the mouth anymore
'Cause it's more intimate, than she thinks we should get
She doesn't look me in the eyes anymore
Too scared of what she'll see, somebody holding me

When I wake up all alone
And I'm thinking of your skin
I remember, I remember what you told me

Said that we're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all
We're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

She doesn't call me on the phone anymore
She's never listening, she says it's innocent
She doesn't let me have control anymore
I must've crossed a line, I must've lost my mind

When I wake up all alone
And I'm thinking of your skin
I remember, I remember what you told me

Said that we're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all
We're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

I miss the mornings with you laying in my bed
I miss the memories replaying in my head
I miss the thought of a forever, you and me
But all you're missing is my body, oh

Said we're not lovers
'Cause we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

We're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

To feel anything at all
To feel anything at all
You lost it."

Beca finished up softly and opened her eyes which she had closed the whole time.

CR along with a few other people apart of Beca's recording team were just starting at the smaller girl in the booth. They all had a feeling they knew what the song was about.

Beca placed her headphones on its holder and walked out the booth taking a seat next to CR.

"So, what'd you guys think?" Beca asked.

CR nodded "It's dope shorty. What are we doing with it?"

"I want it out by Saturday, so no later than two days from now." Beca said messing with the sound board.

"Is it you know?" CR asked.

Beca sighed "Yeah. At least partially."

"Partially?" CR asked.

Beca just nodded "Yeah, the idea of the song is from her, but I twisted it and created this story from it." Beca answered.

"I get it, take your personal experience and create an alternate storyline so you basically talk about it without directly talking about it." CR said.

"Pretty much." Beca said.

"You know she misses you too right?" CR asked.

Beca nodded slowly "I'm sure she does, and I honestly mean it. Not being sarcastic."

Two days later

"Alright thanks CR." Beca said hanging up the phone.

Just as she wanted CR had released her new song "Strangers" and CR called to give her an update on streams and sales. The song up to this point was doing better than projected and debuted at number two on the charts. People were raving about it all over social media and were speculating the meaning behind it.

As Beca hung up she placed her phone on the kitchen island and rested her head in her hands with a sigh.

Knock knock

Beca lifted her head with a groan.

"Who in the hell can it be?" She mumbled as she walked towards her door. As far has she knew, she wasn't expecting anyone but with her schedule she wouldn't be surprised if something slipped her mind.

She unlocked the front door and opened it up, what she saw she was definitely not expecting.

"Stace?" Beca asked shocked.

The taller girl cracked a small smile "Hey Becs."

Beca stuttered a bit "Uh um. What, what are you doing here?"

"I wanted to talk; I heard your new song which was beautiful just like everything else you've recorded." Stacie said.

Beca nodded and stepped aside letting the taller girl in "Thanks, it means a lot." She said closing the door behind Stacie.

"Wow this house is beautiful". Stacie said looking around.

"Yeah I had a good interior designer I suppose. Let's head to the kitchen." Beca said leading the two towards this kitchen.

"Punch?" Beca asked knowing it was her favorite.

Stacie smiled "Of course."

Beca poured her a glass and handed it to her taking a seat next to her.

"So, what'd you want to talk about?" Beca asked.

Stacie chuckled "Right you like to get straight to the point." She said before taking a sip of the punch.

"I want to talk about what happened you know?" Stacie said.

Beca nodded "Alright so go ahead."

"Well I know this was something that we talked about countless times before agreeing to, but I just hope you know it's not something I wanted to happen. Like yeah because we did what we did we were able to focus on our careers and get to where we're at, but I don't think I could do this anymore." Stacie said.

Beca nodded and soaked it in "I know you didn't want to, neither one of us did. We had to do what we had to do at the time which sucked but I agree we wouldn't be where we're at currently."

"Having to break this off devastated me beyond belief Becs, you know as well as I do, we were all we had since dam near eight grade. These last two years have been straight torture not having you by my side, not going to sleep with and being able to wake up in each other's arms. I miss that and I can't do this anymore." Stacie said emotionally.

"I can't either Stace but what about your job?" Beca asked.

"I told them to either let me relocate back to the states or I quit." Stacie said.

"Stace you can't do that; this has been your dream since we were kids." Beca said.

Stacie smiled "It's not my dream if I can't have you with me Becs. Besides I'm getting transferred to the research facility here." Stacie said.

"What?" Beca asked shocked.

Stacie smiled "Yeah, I'm coming to LA baby."

"No more Australia?" Beca asked with a smile.

Stacie shook her head "No more Australia. Just LA."

Hearing this brought a huge smile on Beca's face and she threw herself towards Stacie wrapping her arms around the taller girl's neck.

Stacie chuckled and wrapped her arms tightly around Beca's mid sexton burying her head in Beca's neck.

"You better not be fucking with me Conrad because that'd just be cruel." Beca mumbled into Stacie's neck.

"I promise on everything I love Mitchell. This is the real deal." Stacie replied.

After a few Beca broke the embrace.

"Sorry I got carried away." Beca said.

Stacie smiled "Don't apologize Becs, it was nice to finally hug you. I missed your hugs."

The two stayed silent for a few until Stacie broke it.

"So, what does this mean for us?" Stacie asked softly.

Beca took a breath and grabbed Stacie's hand "It means we try to pick up where we left off if you'd like. I don't want to just jump back in especially with the media being all over me, but I say we go on a couple of dates like we used to always do and see how that goes." Beca answered.

Stacie smiled "I'd love nothing more than to give this another go."

"This time, nothing is getting in our way." Beca said quietly.

"Agreed." Stacie said.

Strangers- Halsey (feat. Lauren Jauregui

I kind of twisted the song around a bit to incorporate it to this story line so it can sort of make sense in a way.
