Crosshairs tells Drift he can sleep in Jamie's room, arguing Bumblebee and Hound can help with Jayce and J.R., but they are likely past the nightmares. Crosshairs did check on the girls and Drift before sleeping for a couple of hours, then waking up to check on them again. He's more concerned about Drift's nightmares than the girls'. Drift is asleep the four times he's checked on him.
Good, you need to sleep, and it seems like the nightmares have also stopped for you. Crosshairs thinks as he watches Drift sleep for a few minutes before going back to his room and back to sleep. Bumblebee and Hound also sleep. This is the first night they've been able to sleep all night.
Jayce and J.R. watch Crosshairs and Drift with Jamie by the doorway. As odd as it seems, just seeing how happy Drift is, which makes Crosshairs happy, makes the two girls happy. They stand at the doorway for a few minutes before going to eat breakfast.
Bulma does most of what she does to take care of Jamie and let Drift feed her, though all he's doing is holding the tube and letting the liquid go down the tube. He holds Jamie's hand while doing this. A few minutes pass before he believes he felt Jamie's hand move in his.
There's no way I'm imagining it, right? He questions, uncertain if he should tell Bulma and Crosshairs.
"What's wrong?" Bulma asks.
"I-I swear I felt Jamie's hand move in mine," Drift tells her, worried he'll be told he's imagining things.
Bulma smiles, "You did feel her hand move. This is good, but it may still be a few days before she opens her eyes."
The two mechs smile, even though there's still a long road ahead; this is more good news they've been waiting for.
"Come on, there are two other girls we need to take care of," Crosshairs says as Bulma finishes with the feeding tube. Drift knows Jayce still needs his support, but leaving Jamie is getting harder.
I know this doesn't make sense, I should be ok with leaving her for a while, but I want to — no, I need to be here when she wakes up.
Bulma tells Drift to go with Crosshairs as Jamie will not wake up today.
"He's going to panic if she ends up in brief comas," Vegeta frets, "and until she can talk or walk..."
"They all might panic, but Drift will be a wreck. We can assure them this is normal and hope Jamie stays on the same path recovering once she wakes up that she always follows. It's still going to be at least a month, but the nightmare portion is almost over."
"We could say it's over; she's no longer close to death. What about Jayce and J.R.?"
"I worry they're mentally unstable and won't understand when we explain to them Jamie's inability to talk or walk is normal. I hate they basically forgot their medical knowledge."
"We should talk to the Autobots and Cade; they'll be calm and know what's going on. They'll be able to help Jayce and J.R."
Bulma agrees to talk to the others, likely in four hours when the two girls take a nap. In the meantime, she wants to get a CT scan of Jamie's brain. This will help her know if Jamie will follow the path of recovery she has in the past and get a better idea of brain damage than she did with the EEG.
As Drift thought, Jayce is still unstable mentally and needs his support. Crosshairs takes J.R. to eat breakfast, hoping to distract her.
She's not going to be able to understand what Jamie will deal with is normal. Drift worries.
It's going to be hard for all of us, but it will be a challenge for Jayce and maybe J.R.
Jayce hugs Drift tight, trying not to cry, hating she's still feeling this way.
J.R. watches the kitchen doors, waiting for Drift and Jayce rather than eating her breakfast.
"She'll be ok," Crosshairs assures her as he takes her hand.
"I don't understand why is she this upset now? She got worse hearing good news. She's not going to be able to handle how Jamie will be when she wakes up."
J.R. was getting better mentally, but she's worried about Jayce, bringing down her own mental state. Crosshairs observes.
Crosshairs moves J.R. onto his lap in a hug.
Drift isn't sure if laying Jayce on the bed is the better choice than taking her to the kitchen to eat. He knows she's lost a lot of weight. By now, Jayce is crying. Drift lays on the bed with her, struggling to calm her down. He hates the sadness in her eyes.
I don't want to use drugs, but nothing else is working now.
He tries to walk around the room as he holds her, worried this is new and serious. He tries this for ten minutes before sitting on the chair.
Crosshairs has Bee take J.R., worried about how bad Jayce is for Drift not to take her to the kitchen yet.
He didn't expect to walk into her choking while crying.
What the hell? Does she not realize she'd choking or scared she's choking?
Of course, Crosshairs and Drift don't know the correct way to handle choking. The problem is sort of taken care of as Jayce throws up again, but she is throwing up bile and blood.
"Go get Bulma, now!" Drift demands.
Crosshairs rushes out of the room as Drift tries to help Jayce, worried this is related to her malnutrition.
Don't tell me you're still finding ways not to drink nutrition drinks?
Drift didn't think Cade and Vegeta would be with Bulma, who has a few supplies. Cade is worried about putting an IV in, even though J.R. had him out one in Jayce before. Vegeta watched him and is ready to help if needed. Bulma tries to suction the blood and bile instead of Jayce throwing up while Crosshairs and Drift struggle to keep Jayce calm. No one knows Bumblebee is standing in the doorway, holding a terrified J.R.
"She's dying," J.R. sobs.
Bumblebee carries her to another room.
