It's a rough Twenty minutes before the vomiting stops. Everyone suspects Jayce continues not to drink the nutrition drinks and questions how she managed not to eat the food she's been given?
"I'm thinking we scare her," Vegeta suggests, "she'll hate hearing how Jamie will find out and not be happy if she continues."
"Bad idea," Cade informs him, "even if she wasn't mentally unstable."
"She may be still refusing to drink the nutrition drinks, and we don't give them much oatmeal. This is messing up her digestive system," Hound guesses.
"I hope treatment doesn't include a feeding tube. Even the minimally invasive option is going to upset J.R.," Vegeta points out.
"Even if she understands it's needed to help Jayce," Cade adds.
They watch Drift carry Jayce out of the room with Bulma. Crosshairs asks who's watching J.R., clearly uncertain if he should go with Bulma and Drift or go where J.R. is.
"I think Bee is with her, but you better go make sure she's ok," Cade informs him.
"What's going on?" Bee asks the second Crosshairs walks into the room. Crosshairs isn't sure if he should be happy J.R. is asleep or not, "she cried herself to sleep. She thinks Jayce is dying."
Crosshairs sighs, "I don't know, but it's not looking good."
"Unbelievable, what is this? Jamie is getting better, so now we have a nightmare situation with Jayce? we're lucky we didn't have a serious situation when J.R. tried to end her life."
"You're ok," Drift assures Jayce as he laid her on the bed, "I'll be right here when you wake up."
Bulma chose to use anesthesia for this procedure. Drift holds Jayce's hand as the anesthesia takes effect.
"Please let us find nothing," Bulma says as she begins the procedure.
Damn, I hate how she has to do an invasive procedure to make sure nothing is wrong. I'm likely going to be left to decide on a feeding tube. Drift dreads.
The others check on J.R., wanting to stay and comfort her, but only Bee and Crosshairs stay with her.
Cade goes back to sitting with Jamie even though he doesn't have to.
If this is how we feel watching you go through this, then I worry what you think every time you wake up from a flare-up. I worry about how this attack will affect you. Cade worries. I hope we never have to deal with this again, but I know it will happen. We can only hope it'll be a long time before a severe flare-up happens again.
"Well?" Bulma asks Drift once Jayce is in a room to recover.
"I-I don't know. J.R. will be distraught when she sees a feeding tube, and Jayce... unless we sedate her..."
"You do realize how sick she is?"
Both know there's a serious problem, and either route they choose will be challenging.
"She'd going to fight us if I want until she wakes up," Bulma sighs, hating she made the decision herself.
Crosshairs walks into the room as Bulma finishes putting the nasogastric tube in; seeing Drift is not pleased Bulma has to do this.
"Hey, you know Bulma is doing what she needs to do to help Jayce," Crosshairs assures Drift as he hugs him. However, he's worried about how both Jayce and J.R. will react to this.
Bulma immediately begins feeding Jayce via the tube. Jayce wakes up as she's doing this. She's still groggy from the anesthesia but sees what Bulma is doing. While she's groggy and they'll only have J.R. to deal with, Crosshairs and Drift decide to tell J.R. what's going in with Jayce.
J.R. is more bothered by the decision to be made than seeing the feeding tube in Jayce's nose. She wanted to scold Jayce, but what good would that do? J.R. also worries Jayce will take the tube out, worried this means she'll be restrained to the bed.
No one was prepared for J.R. to pass out from fear, falling to the floor. Jayce is groggy and can't do anything but cry as Crosshairs sits on the floor and moves J.R. onto his lap. She wakes up quickly, but Jayce is still worried.
"She'll be ok," Bulma assures J.R., "she's not eating enough and crying often; not a good combination."
She's eating nothing, is what you mean. J.R. believes. For how long?
She doesn't fight Crosshairs as Crosshairs picks her up and carries her out of the room. Bulma, Drift, and Jayce know J.R. will be crying, but Bulma and Drift think Jayce is unaware of this. Since she's feeling groggy from the anesthesia, Jayce decides to go to sleep. Unfortunately, Drift still worries Jayce is weak and could die in her sleep.
"She's not that weak," Bulma assures him, "but this is a serious problem."
Bulma insists Drift make sure Crosshairs can handle J.R.
Drift didn't expect to see everyone else in the room, even Cade and Vegeta.
"It's really bad," Cade tells him, "but she hasn't had a seizure yet."
Drift could tell J.R. is trembling with fear. For him to notice from where he's standing is not a good thing. The others leave once they realize Drift is in the room.
Drift sits on the bed next to Crosshairs and moves J.R. onto his lap.
"Shhh, Jayce will be ok," he tries to assure J.R.
"No, she's trying to die by starvation, and it's working," J.R. sobs.
"It's being taken care of, I promise."
Even though J.R. knows Drift can't lie, she's terrified what they're trying won't work. The two mechs hate how there's good news with Jamie, but now deal with a situation with Jayce, and J.R. is terrified.
"Try a walk; I'm going to get sleep aid," Crosshairs instructs Drift before leaving the room. Drift tires of using drugs, but there's no way J.R. will sleep tonight without it. The walk will only calm her down.
J.R. holds on to Drift tightly and rests her head on his shoulder as he walks down the hall. She stopped crying, but tears still roll down her face. The others watch, not liking how upset J.R. is. He takes her to see Jamie. J.R. takes Jamie's hand but uncertain what to say. They sit in the room for twenty minutes before Crosshairs finds them and insists on putting J.R. to bed.
Crosshairs takes J.R. and lays in bed with her.
"Everything will be ok," he assures her as Drift injects the sleep aid, both hating she's still trembling, but not as bad as Twenty minutes ago. The mechs wait for J.R. to fall asleep.
"Not good; both are going downhill... even though Jamie should be waking up doon," Drift comments as a tear escapes his eye.
"I fear we're discovering mental wounds they've been hiding, but they'll be ok."
Though Crosshairs still worries how will Jamie be when she wakes up and if there are lasting mental wounds from this nightmare.
Crosshairs stays with J.R., unaware Drift isn't going to sit by Jamie or back to Jayce; but to cry alone in a room. Terrified things will get much worse even after Jamie wakes up.
