Chapter 41: Mid-terms Part One.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.
Kagome was standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom running a finger over the scar on her face. She was getting used to the scars now-she really was-but, they still bothered her sometimes. They were reminders of what she had been through and she really didn't need all the reminders or the memories. It had been about a year and a half since she was in captivity, she was still in therapy and had to still take medicine for her nightmares and flashbacks. She was doing better but, still wasn't quite where she wanted to be. On the plus side, she didn't jump anymore when Inuyasha, his parents or their friends touched her, so that was a good thing and she was happy about that.
Inuyasha walked into into the bathroom and leaned on the doorjamb watching as Kagome traced the scar on her cheek. It had been a long road of recovery for her on, not only her arms and her body, but her mind as well. They were still working on her mind to this day and Inuyasha didn't care how long it took he would help her get through this. For Kagome he would do anything. Walking up to her he took her hand away from her face and kissed her wrist. "Absolutely beautiful." He murmured against her wrist making her smile and turn towards him, she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss.
"Mmm, what did I do to deserve you?" She whispered against his lips feeling as he smiled.
"I think that's the other was around, my love. Are you almost ready for school?"
"Yeah, I just have to brush my hair. I can't believe that senior year is almost over." Kagome whispered, she was shocked that she made it into senior year at all. All her make-up work received good grades, that and extra credit pushed her to pass the eleventh grade with flying colors and for that she was glad.
"I know, me neither." Inuyasha mumbled as he watched Kagome brush her hair.
"Okay I'm ready." Kagome said putting the brush back down. Walking into the living room, them both giving the kids a kiss goodbye, saying goodbye to his parents and leaving for the school.
The day passed by slow for Kagome, she always hated tests-though she always did well on them-but, she feels like she did good with the mid-terms. She hoped she did well enough to get a scholarship because there was no way she would have enough money to pay for college and, even though she knew they would without a problem, she would feel bad asking Inuyasha's parents to pay her way through college.
Just like last year, the group had gym at the end of the day. They were all standing on the gym floor waiting for the coach to announce what the mid-term was going to be. Inuyasha and the others were talking about the day and how everyone though they did on their exams when the coach blew the whistle.
"For mid-terms I'm going to put you in pairs and have you participate in a battle. The rules are; miko's and monks are only to use enough power to stun-not kill, demons are to not seriously hurt anyone and demons slayers are to do no actual slaying! Everyone understand?" At everyone's nods the coach continued. "Inuyasha, I have you with Kagome and you will be fighting against Koga and Ayame. Miroku I have you with Sango and you will be going up against Kagura and Kanna." The coach continued to pair teams up and who they were going up against. Once she was finished everyone faced their opponents and waited for the whistle to blow.
Once the whistle blew, Ayame waisted no time in throwing her first attack. She threw razer sharp leaves towards Inuyasha and Kagome, reacting fast Kagome threw up a barrier and watched as the leaves dropped harmlessly to the floor. Inuyasha took out his sword and sent out a weak wind scar that Koga and Ayame easily dodged. Then with a blink of an eye Koga was gone and with another blink Inuyasha was falling to the ground from a kick in the back.
Inuyasha hopped back on his feet the next second sending a kick to the chest kicking him several feet away. Koga landed on his back, using the momentum he flipped over landing back on his feet. Koga then jumped into the air and sent a barrage of kicks at Inuyasha, which Inuyasha blocked them hiding behind his sword. Inuyasha then stuck his sword into the ground using it to swing himself around to swiftly kick Koga in the jaw sending him flying. Before Koga could get up Inuyasha jerked his sword out of the floor and pointed it at Koga's face, catching him off guard and taking him out of the fight.
While Inuyasha and Koga were fighting Kagome and Ayame were in their own battle. Sending more leaves towards Kagome, which she quickly dodged and notched several arrows and sent them flying towards another round of leaves that Ayame sent her way. Notching another arrow and putting only 5 percent of her power in it she sent it flying toward Ayame but watched as she jumped out of the way. Reaching back to grab another arrow she cursed when she came up empty handed and threw her useless bow and empty quiver to the side without another thought. Kagome ran to kick Ayame in the side but Ayame was too fast, she quickly grabbed Kagome's leg, spun her around and tossed her making her crash into Inuyasha's back-right when he took Koga out of the fight-and sent them both falling to the ground.
Kagome quickly scrambled off of Inuyasha's back, urging him back up and jumped on his back as soon as he was back on his feet. Once she was secure on his back Inuyasha took off running as Kagome started firing off weak energy balls.
Ayame grunted as she jumped away from yet another energy ball, she shot out another round of leaves and smirked as she heard Inuyasha yelp of brief pain from the leaves hitting his leg and watched as he fell sending Kagome flying off his back.
Kagome huffed as her body connected with the ground she quickly rolled over and jumped to her feet. With Inuyasha out of the fight now it was just her and Ayame. It was up the her if she wanted Inuyasha and her to win this battle.
Kagome waisted no time in throwing ball after ball of energy towards Ayame but watched once again as Ayame dodged every single one of them. Then Ayame turned into a tornado, going to fast for Kagome to dodge the kick to the side. With a cry of shock and brief pain she fell to the floor barely turning over to put a barrier up in time to block another kick to the back. Using the same barrier she pushed Ayame into the wall hard enough to knock her out but not hard enough to seriously hurt her.
"The winner between Inuyasha and Kagome vs. Koga and Ayame are Inuyasha and Kagome! Good job you two!" The coach congratulated.
Please review. Until next time, bye!
