Chapter 1
Akila was working walking around whistling as she walked around the Museum. Thinking of her old Museum that she worked at before. She needed money and why not work at a Museum that she knows that it's definitely not alive. She turned down a hall and an exhibit caught her eye. It was an ancient Egyptian one with 3 sarcophagi. Walking in she saw a gold tablet thing and she ran her fingers over it before jumping back feeling a shock in her fingertips. She knew that a fourth would be installed as there was a new one coming with her when she finds the Director's office. Along with a plane, two wax figures, and a door to the underworld. Deciding to just turn around she walked out and moved quickly to where she should've been nearly 10 minutes ago.
She knocked quickly reaching into her bag grabbing the transfer papers for her and the other items she had with her. A short man in a suit walked out. "Oh, you must be the new night guard. Come in now." He said. She walked in and handed him the papers as she sat down. The man looked through them.
"Everything is in order, Your coworker would be delighted to have you I'm sure, here are your keys and you should get a badge tonight from your coworker. And one more thing." The man said and went over reaching into the drawer and handed her a stack of papers. "Read the instructions," he said seriously. She rolled her eyes and nodded.
Walking out into the October air she looked at the stack of papers.
#1: Throw the bone.
Akila looked at the Manual confused. What bone?! She sighed. It was a joke. The damn thing was taped up anyway. She continued reading.
2: Lock up the lions or they'll eat you.
Yeah, it's definitely a fucking joke. To humor herself, she continued reading.
3: Double-check your belt. The monkey probably stole your keys.
4:Tie the horses to the bench.
5:G̶o̶ ̶i̶n̶s̶i̶d̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶e̶m̶p̶l̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶A̶h̶k̶m̶e̶n̶r̶a̶h̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶l̶o̶c̶k̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶r̶c̶o̶p̶h̶a̶g̶u̶s̶.̶
Tilting her head, she wondered why this one was Striked through she remembered making something like this for the Smithsonian. So that way the next guy wasn't so confused or scared. Something now was telling her that the thing wasn't a joke. After all, what the hell was going on in the Smithsonian wasn't a joke. She had more pictures and memories of that. She remembered dealing with Ivan the terrible, Dealing with Al Capone, she sighed and started to walk quickly. Away from the Museum. Ignoring how part of her mind was nagging that she was jumping into something exactly like her old museum. How she could be in danger again.
Rubbing her eye under her hair that was covering it she sighed.
She survived worst.
She returned a few hours later, before remembering that she didn't touch the manual again. She sighed and leaned into the door.
5: Close the Mayan diorama, and pull their latches, over.Don't close the Roman or old westdiorama. Some figures will get annoyed.
She checked her time and rushed into the museum. Seeing that she only had a few minutes till her shift started. From what she heard the other night guard worked the days she didn't work. So she had to keep the keys in a drawer in the office. She slipped her uniform on and held up her flashlight. It had no button. She hummed in confusion, hopefully, she wouldn't need it. Walking around she went noticed how most of the exhibits have no glass or fences. Even if she wanted to close the Roman or the Old West exhibit she couldn't. The barriers were locked. She closed the Mayans and moved to the lion exhibit. Closing it she noticed that it slowly was turning into night. She then went to the front desk and leaned back reading through the manual. The manual was only 30 instructions.
She sighed and leaned back into the chair closing her eyes. It felt weird to be alone. After 3 years of working at the Smithsonian. With everything living. Amelia isn't there to talk to her about her life, the Einstein's aren't there to help her with her homework. Al Capone isn't there for her to yell at or to offer apple slices for him to be silent for the night. No one was there for her to laugh with-
She was completely alone, and she felt it. As she opened her she screamed as she saw that the fucking T-rex was staring at her in the eye. Falling back into the chair she backed away watching the T-Rex stare at her as if a curious dog.
This isn't a fucking joke?!
