Chapter 42: Mid-terms Part Two.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.
A/N: This story is almost at it's end. Only two more chapters after this one.
When the whistle sounded, Kagura got started right away by unleashing her dance of the blades. Sango blocked it by jumping in front of Miroku and hiding both him and herself behind her boomerang.
Once the attack subsided Miroku darted out throwing sutras at them which Kanna promptly sucked them up in her mirror.
Kagura then took her feather out of her hair throwing it up into the sky, Sango and Miroku watched it as it got bigger and as Kagura and Kanna hopped on soaring through the air. Kagura then released her dance of the dragon attack which Sango threw her boomerang and cut through the attack and watched as the twisters dissipated. She caught the boomerang Sango threw it once again aiming at Kagura and Kanna, but growled lowly with irritation as she watched them dodge the attack with a gust of wind from Kagura sending the boomerang towards the ground lodging it tightly in the floor.
Taking his monks staff Miroku ran towards the boomerang jumping on it then pushed himself into the air where he swung his staff-knocking the two girls off the feather.
Using the wind to break their fall Kagura and Kanna landed on their feet. Kanna then mumbled something that neither Sango nor Miroku heard, but gasped in shock as they watched what seemed to be a mirror demon crawl out of the mirror.
Sango gapped at the demon once she saw what it was holding in it's hand. "Is that my-?"
"No way." Miroku whispered as both he and Sango stared at the huge mirror demon which was holding a gigantic version of Sango's boomerang.
Sango ran over to jerk her boomerang out of the ground, then turned her body swinging the boomerang through the air before releasing it and sending it as hard as she could towards the mirror demon. Sango gasped as she watch the mirror demon block it's self with it's own boomerang, cursing under her breath she caught the boomerang as it flew back towards her.
"Your turn." Kanna whispered pointing towards Sango and Miroku. "Throw it."
Sango and Miroku barely had enough time to dodge the attack. Sango threw the strap on the boomerang over her shoulder and drew her sword out-running towards Kagura they began a dual. Sango swung and kagura dodged until Sango caught her off guard and knocked her fan out of her hand, rendering her powerless, thus taking her out of the fight.
Sango then turned her attention back towards Kanna's mirror, throwing her boomerang towards the mirror Kanna held in her hands. Kanna murmured something under her breath and when the boomerang hit the mirror it bounced off flying back towards Sango. Before she could even think to jump out of the way her boomerang hit her knocking her out and out of the fight.
"Sango!" Miroku yelled but didn't have time to find out if she was alright. He cursed as he moved out of the way from the flying mirror boomerang. Sending more sutras towards Kanna and smirked as the mirror swallowed them again.
"What Kanna gasped as her mirror began to crack.
"I put extra power in those sutras so no matter if you sucked them in your mirror they would still have an effect on you." His smirk turned into one of horror as he yelped in surprise and barely managing to jump out of the way of the giant boomerang.
Thinking quickly Miroku sent his staff flying towards the mirror demon. His smirk returned as his staff pierced the demon making it slowly crack before completely shattering falling to a pile of broken glass. Running to pick his staff up he swung it around before Kanna could do anything and struck her mirror breaking it.
"The winner of Miroku and Sango against Kagura and Kanna are Miroku and Sango! Good work!" The coach called out.
As all the others finished their battles the coach blew her whistle motioning for all of them to gather around her. "You all did a fantastic job, today and I'm proud at how of you all developed and grew into your powers over the last few of years! I'm so sad that I won't see you all again after the year is over, I'll miss every single one of you." The coach confessed motioning for a group hug as the final bell rang.
Walking out to the parking lot Kagome sighed. "I can't believe we only have one more week left of school!"
"I know, it seems so unreal." Sango stretched her sore muscles-getting hit with her boomerang is nothing to laugh about.
"So much has happened the past two years, some good, some horrible. So many ups and downs, but I'm glad I made the decision to move here." Kagome said smiling at her friends.
Inuyasha squeezed her hand, making Kagome look up at him. "We're glad you moved her too."
"It definitely got a lot less boring when you moved here, that's for sure. You, my dear Kagome, kept us on our toes." Miroku chimed in.
"Yeah I suppose I did." Kagome sighed. "I'm really sorry for dragging you all in my problems. I thank you so much for helping me get past everything once it was all over." She shuttered as she remembered learning to deal with the scars, she recalled all the sleepless nights that she drugged Inuyasha into, causing him to loss his sleep. She felt guilty for waking everyone in the house up every night from her screaming from that nightmares that were so much worse that they ever had been before she was held captive. But, with the help of Inuyasha, Taisho, Iziyoi, Sango, Miroku and her kids-she was able to cope with everything that happened. She felt incredibly lucky to have these amazing people-that she knew she didn't deserve-in her life.
"You have nothing to apologize for, Kagome. If we had to do it all over again, we wouldn't even hesitate to be by your side." Sango said grabbing Kagome's shoulder and giving it a squeeze.
"For sure." Miroku said with a nod.
"Within a heartbeat." Inuyasha added with another squeeze to Kagome's hand.
"Kagome smiled. "I feel like the luckiest girl in the world right now."
"We're the lucky ones for having you in our lives." Sango said.
"We're all lucky to have each other." Miroku corrected and everyone agreed whole heartily to that.
