Chapter 43: A Graduation and a Wedding.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.
"Whoo! Go Kagome! We love you!" Kagome heard Iziyoi shout out as she walked across the stage to accept her diploma. Kagome was so proud of herself, as was everyone, for making it to this point. Being held captive and the time spent at the hospital and rehab center, she wasn't for sure if she would walk across the stage this year, but she did it and for that she was overflowing with joy.
As Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku walked across the stage Iziyoi did the same for them as she did for Kagome.
Once all the diplomas were handed out and graduation came to an end, Taisho and Iziyoi took the group out to eat to celebrate. As they ate they talked, joked and laughed about the time before Kagome came to live here. They were reminiscing and just enjoying their time together.
July came and Inuyasha was standing under a flower arch, that was in his back yard, with Sesshomaru and Miroku standing behind him. He was wearing a black tux with a white vest and a red tie. Family and friends sitting in the seats provided waiting for the ceremony to get start. Iziyoi was seating in the front row, dabbing her eyes with a tissue. They watched as Aya-dressed in a beautiful white dress-walk down the isle, stopped in the middle of the isle and dumped the whole basket of flowers on the floor. Quiet chuckles filled the room, Aya looked at Inuyasha and beamed at him as he knelt down and held his arms out. She dropped the basket and ran into Inuyasha's arms giggling as he stood up and rubbed their noses together.
Hiro walked down the isle, dressed in a black tux with a red vest and white tie, holding a small pillow that held two rings on top of it. Then Sango and Rin walked down the isle wearing sleeveless red dresses and holding white roses bouquets, they stood on the opposite side from the boys.
Inuyasha sucked in a breath and tried to swallow the sudden lump that was lodge in his throat as the wedding march began playing. So many obstacles had been thrown their way that he wasn't sure this day would ever come to be a reality. Inuyasha turned towards the double doors leading into the kitchen as they began to open revealing what he swore was an angel sent from heaven above.
Kagome was dressed in a long white dress that had a train behind it. It was strapless and formfitting on the top but flowed from the hips down. It was simple with few sequence, but, she looked absolutely radiant in it. She choose not to wear a vail and had her hair done up in a curly bun with curly tendrils framing her face, she had small jewels woven in her hair. Inuyasha's mouth twitched into a half smile as he watched her walk he noticed she was bare feet-which was so much like her, whenever she could she went without shoes-and he loved that she was being herself, especially today.
As Kagome and Taisho began to walk down the isle Inuyasha's sight began to get blurry. As they made it to the end of the isle he saw that tears were already streaming down Kagome's face and his dad's eyes were mysteriously misty as well. He laid his hand in his dad's hand when he reached from him and once he felt Kagome's small delicate hand in his much larger one he enclosed his hand over hers and squeezed.
"Who gives this young lady to this man?" the priest asked.
"I do." Taisho answered and at the priest's nod he went to go sit by his crying wife.
"We are gathered here today to join Miss Kagome Higurashi and Mr. Inuyasha Takahashi in holy matrimony. Should anyone disagree with this marriage may they speak now or forever hold their peace." The priest paused to give everyone that chance to speak up, but, when everyone remained silent the priest nodded and continued. "Very well, let's begin. Do you, Inuyasha Takahashi, take, Kagome Higurashi, as you lawfully wedded wife in sickness and in health to death do you part?"
"I do." Inuyasha answered slipping Kagome's ring on her slim finger.
"And do you, Kagome Higurashi, take Inuyasha Takahashi as your lawfully wedded husband in sickness and in health to death do you part?"
"I do." Kagome replied with a watery smile while she placed Inuyasha's ring on his finger.
"Then with the power invested by me I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss the bride."
Applause erupted as the newly married couple kissed. With flashing lights from the camera capturing the first kiss as a married couple Inuyasha and Kagome pulled away from each other and Inuyasha wrapped his arms around his new wife's waist and spun her around, relishing in Kagome's happy giggles.
As everyone filed in the spacious dining room for dinner then moved to the living room that was rearranged into a dancing area. After a few hours of dancing and being congratulated by everyone Kagome and Inuyasha made their leave in a limousine on their way to their honeymoon.
