"I got to use the bathroom, be right back." Beca said as she slid of the barstool giving Stacie a pat on her hand.

"Alright." Stacie said as she took another sip of her drink. She watched Beca disappear in the darkness of the hallway where the bathrooms are located before turning her attention towards her phone. She was going through a work group chat when all of a sudden, she heard someone sit next to her clearing their throat.

"Now how is such a tasty looking female like yourself all alone?" The man asked with a smirk.

Stacie turned her head and looked at the man scanning his appearance. He was clearly in his thirties and looked like he lived in bars constantly drinking. She saw how he was eyeing her like a predator does its prey, something she was used to but never comfortable with.

"I'm not alone." Came her response.

"Really?" He asked as he looked around "Because it seems to me that you are. I guess it's my lucky day." He said as he ran his hand up her arm.

Stacie moved her arm out the way "Please don't touch me." She said calmly trying not to cause a scene.

"Playing hard to get I see." He winked getting closer.

"No, I'm not." Stacie said looking around.

She was currently on a bar stool off to the side from where the pool tables were located as well as the jukebox. Beca and herself had just finished up a game of pool and were enjoying their drinks since both girls had the next day off. She noticed the people she had around her were still engross in their activities but at least she had people around her just in case something happened and Beca wasn't around.

"I can change that. How about the two of us head back to your place and get to know each other better?" He smiled.

"Thanks, but I'm good." Stacie replied.

"I don't think you understood me correctly, I said how about we get out of here and you let me have my way with you." He said in a low voice getting closer to her face.

Stacie tried to put some distance between the two "I heard you but it's still a no for me."

The man got up from the stool and was now inches from her face "It wasn't really a question. You're going to let me and if you're a good girl I'll go easy on you."

Stacie who was now starting to worry backed up till her back hit the edge of the counter. She was about to speak till she heard her best friend.

"Geez buddy didn't anyone ever teach you how to speak to woman? Especially someone as beautiful as her?" Beca asked sarcastically with her arms crossed as she leaned against the counter behind the man.

Stacie took a deep breath calming down at the sight of her best friend.

Beca who had to make a quick stop on her way back from the bathroom to talk to the bar manager that she'd known for some years now, had heard how the man was taking to Stacie and didn't appreciate it one bit. She had grown tired over the years of hearing and seeing people talk and treat Stacie like eye candy. She got fed up with people acting like she wasn't a human with feelings and emotions.

The man turned around and looked at Beca "Get lost shorty, you're not involved in this conversation."

"Nah man I'm perfectly fine right here." Beca shrugged.

The man who was agitated that Beca interrupted got in her face "Go home will you before you really piss me off."

Beca chuckled "See man, I can't go home without that one." Beca said nodding her head towards Stacie "We live together so yeah; I leave when she leaves and vice versa."

This caused the man to smile "Oh so that means I get two for the price of one. I like it."

Beca rolled her eyes and discreetly scanned the room similar to Stacie. She noticed a couple of eyes on her, the eyes of the regulars who knew the smaller girl and who had gotten to know Stacie through the years. Beca had been going to this bar since she was in high school and all the regulars and workers knew just who she was and she knew if anything ever went down, they'd have her back. Same thing always went for Stacie as well. This bar was like her home away from home, a place where she'd come just to hang out, play some pool and joke around with the people. It was like a small family to her.

"Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that ain't happening pal. Go try your luck with someone else." Beca said.

The man chuckled "Like I told her, I wasn't really asking."

Beca looked over the man's shoulder towards Stacie and gave her a signal with her hand, a signal Stacie noticed and gave a nod. Hand signals and body signals was something the two of them had made back in college just in case they got into situations like these. They had all types of signals for different situations and some of them had come in handy before. The hand signal Beca had given Stacie was to tell the taller girl to get somewhere safe. This was something Beca always did, ensure Stacie's safety and protect her at all costs. She always acted as Stacie's protector and bodyguard ready to put herself in harm's way for her.

Stacie grabbed her bag quietly and carefully before making her way towards the pool tables where a couple of the regulars were. They walked up to her to check on her.

Beca's attention now turned back to the man after seeing Stacie get to safety.

"Look man why don't you just leave, and we both go our separate ways?" Beca asked trying to defuse everything.

"I don't think so sweetheart, I'm not leaving until I get a taste of both of your fine asses." He said with a sick smile.

"Not happening." Beca said turning her back towards him as she tried to walk away.

He grabbed her wrist tightly and spun her around pulling her towards him "You're not leaving till I get my taste." He spoke.

Beca realizing there was no other way out of this surged forward and head butted the man making direct contact with his nose. You could hear his nose crack and blood begin to drip out of it.

"You bitch!" He shouted as he brought his hand up to his nose.

Beca brought a hand up to her forehead "God that actually hurts, thanks Hollywood." She mumbled.

This caused Stacie to let out a gasp and made the male regulars all get up and head towards the two ready to jump in if need be. Both Stacie and Beca knew she had backup if it came down to it.

Stacie watched as the man gathered his balance and look at Beca with pure rage, something she didn't like one bit. She saw him grab Beca by the collar of her hoodie and shove her so her back slammed against the counter hard.

"Shit." Beca groaned as she bit her lip from the sudden surge of pain that shot through her body.

"I've had it with you, you little bitch." The man said with rage.

He walked towards and grabbed her again before sending her flying towards the jukebox that was next to them. He threw her with such force that Beca didn't have much time to brace herself, so she went chest and face first into the jukebox causing a loud banging crash sound.

"Bec!" Stacie shouted as she saw Beca's body go limp as she fell on the ground. She ran towards the smaller girl and slid next to her body.

"Becs, can you hear me?" Stacie asked frantically afraid to touch her.

"Beca!" Stacie shouted after getting no response. Still not getting any response she felt the tears fall down her cheeks as she started to panic.

"HELP!" She cried out.

Hours later

"Mmm oh man." Beca groaned as she stirred awake.

"God what the hell." She mumbled trying to get up but stopping the moment she felt pain "Ah shit."

"Hey hey easy now." Stacie said quickly rushing to her side.

Stacie helped Beca sit up slowly and carefully to avoid aggravating any injuries.

"How do you feel?" Stacie asked concerned.

"Like I got hit by a semi." Beca chuckled.

"Thirsty?" Stacie asked.

Beca nodded so Stacie went and grabbed a bottle of water. She came back into the room and handed it over taking a seat next to Beca.

"Honestly Hollywood makes bar fights look too easy and too fun." Beca joked as she placed the bottle on the nightstand. She turned back towards Stacie and noticed how the taller girl was biting her lip and tears were brimming in her eyes.

"What's wrong?" Beca asked softly placing a hand on the taller girl's thigh.

Stacie shook her head closing her eyes and looking down.

"Hey look at me." Beca said softly as she moved her index finger under the taller girl's chin lifting her head slowly.

Stacie opened her eyes as tears slowly fell out.

"Talk to me." Beca said.

"I was so scared Becs. The way he flung you into that jukebox and then seeing you flop to the floor laying there motionless like that, I just got scared." Stacie said quietly.

Beca nodded "I understand Stace and I'm sorry for scaring you like this, but you should know how I am when it comes to you. I'll take the worse ass beating there is just to keep you safe. I'll do it again and again no matter who it is I gotta fight." Beca said squeezing her hand.

"Please Beca I hate seeing you get hurt." Stacie said.

"Stacie we both know I'm no stranger to fights ok, I've been getting into them since middle school. I don't like people disrespecting and threatening you like that, and I'll be dammed to let them. Remember what I told you in high school?" Beca asked.

Stacie nodded "From now on, I promise to always protect you and make sure nothing ever happens to you." She said wiping her eyes.

"Exactly, and you know I never break a promise. I hated seeing people treat you like that back then and I'll hate it thirty years from now still." Beca smiled.

"Thank you for always being you." Stacie smiled.

"Of course dude, I'll be your savior till the end." Beca said bringing the taller girl in for hug.

"I'll get the pain pills and an ice pack then." Stacie said breaking the embrace.

"Can you bring me a Kit-Kat please?" Beca asked pleadingly.

Stacie chuckled at her plead "Sure thing kiddo."

Stacie walked out the room with a smile on her face glad that she had Beca in her life. She was being thankful for having someone always protecting her.
