Still your daughter

All the Bellas were huddled up around the living room having one of their weekly movie nights. All but one Bella, Stacie. She was currently over at her parents' house having a family dinner. The Bellas were about halfway through some romantic chick flick that Chloe picked out, which if you ask Amy, CR and Beca, was hot trash. When all of a sudden, the front door opened and closed quickly followed by rapid footsteps and a quiet sniffle. All eyes snapped towards the figure who was trying to run up the stairs quickly. They knew it was clearly Stacie which caused Beca to spring out of her seat and run after Stacie. The other girls knew how close the two have been and knew if they were needed then Beca would call for them.

Beca ran up the stairs and heard Stacie run into her room. She got to the taller girl's room and entered before shutting the door behind her. She saw Stacie laying under the covers and could hear the girl still sobbing.

Beca quickly made her way to the bed and sat down next to her against the headboard.

"What's wrong sweetheart?" Beca asked softly placing a hand on Stacie's arm.

At the touch, Stacie quickly wrapped around Beca and cried into the smaller girl's chest.

Beca did her best to comfort Stacie, but it was tough not knowing what had happened.

"Stace, what happened?" Beca asked softly again.

"I told them." Stacie cried out.

"Told who, what?" Beca asked.

"My parents Beca, I came out to them." Stacie said through her tears.

Beca swallowed and nodded. She'd never expect Stacie's parents to react this way, the few times she'd met them they seemed nice. She also knew this was something Stacie was afraid of for a while and now she understood why.

"What'd they say to make you so sad?" Beca asked.

"My mom, she was so mad Becs. My dad was proud and said he'd love to spend time with the two of us." Stacie said.

"Why me?" Beca asked confused.

Stacie looked up "Promise not to get mad at this part?" She asked quietly.

Beca nodded "Promise."

"They had asked me how my love life was going, and I said there is someone I have feelings for, so they obviously asked who and I said you. I figured if I was going to tell them then I might as well tell them who and why." Stacie said.

Beca smiled "You have feelings for me?"

Stacie nodded "Is that ok?"

Beca nodded "That is more than ok Stace. But before we talk about that, tell me what else happened."

Stacie nodded "My mom was so mad, she just kept yelling about how wrong it is and how disgraceful it is. She said that I'm not allowed back home until I get over this, she said to not contact her until this phase passes." Stacie said sadly.

"Hey, it'll be ok alright, she might have just been surprised. I'm sure once she talks to your dad, she'll realize how wrong she was." Beca said.

"I doubt it. You should have seen her." Stacie said sadly.

"Let's just try to forget about it for now, ok? Why don't we watch something."? Beca suggested.

"No, I just want to go to sleep." Stacie said.

"You sure?" Beca asked.

Stacie nodded "I just need some alone time to think about everything and maybe sleep."

Beca nodded and knew what she had to do.

"Alright well I'll be downstairs so just call if you need anything." She said placing a kiss on Stacie's head.

"Thank you." Stacie said quietly.

"Oh, and Stace?" Beca said reaching the door.

"Yeah?" Stacie said.

"We need to talk about those feelings." Beca winked "Mines as well."

Stacie cracked a small smile "Sure thing."

Beca made her way downstairs but not before grabbing her wallet and keys.

"Chlo?" Beca called out giving the girl a nod to follow her.

Chloe got up and follow her to the front door "Sup?"

"Listen I need you to do me a favor and keep an eye and ear out for Stacie." Beca said putting on her sneakers.

"Where are you going?" Chloe asked.

"I need to take care of something, just promise me to keep alert on Stacie?" Beca said.

Chloe nodded "Of course."

Beca smiled "Good, thank you. I'll be back." She said before walking out towards her car.

She drove to her fairly close destination and after twenty minutes of driving she parked her car in a driveway of a beautiful home. She got out and made her way to the front door ringing the doorbell.

"You're Beca correct?" The gentleman asked who opened the door.

"Yes sir, Mr. Conrad?" Beca asked.

The man nodded "Please call me Stephen."

"Can I come in Stephen?" Beca asked.

The man stepped aside "Of course, please."

"Thank you." Beca said as she entered, and the man led them to the kitchen.

"What can I do for you?" Stephen asked.

"It's about Stacie. Mainly her mother." Beca answered.

The man nodded his head knowingly "You know?"

Beca nodded "She just told me as she was sobbing in her bed. She's truly devastated." Beca answered.

Stephen sighed and nodded "I figured as much. My wife grew up religious and doesn't understand. I've known for a while that Stacie wasn't straight and let her come out on her own terms, but I always worried about this happening."

"Well, I'm glad you let her come out on her own terms but that whole religious shit doesn't excuse how your wife reacted to her own daughter coming out." Beca said bitterly "Excuse the language." She added.

Stephen tapped her leg "I understand don't worry. I'll go get her; I hope she'll come to her senses." He said as he exited the kitchen and headed for the stairs.

Beca shook her head and couldn't believe that she was in this predicament. She could never understand how people can be like this towards their own children. She always hated the religion excuse that people constantly threw out there.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the footsteps entering the kitchen.

"Beca this is my wife, Caroline. Caroline this is Beca." Stephen said.

"So, you're the Beca." Caroline said not impressed.

"And you're the mom that pretty much exiled her own daughter due to her sexuality." Beca replied.

"Well, I am her mother and I know what's best for her. This phase that she's going through isn't what's right." Caroline said crossing her arms.

"What's best? How in the hell do you know what's best for Stacie? She's her own person capable of making her own decisions. Also, this isn't a phase, in case you didn't know, you can't help what you are or who you fall in love with." Beca responded.

"Fall in love with?" Caroline asked with a chuckle "What do you two know about love? Your nothing but kids who are going against God with your actions." She said disgusted.

Beca slammed her fist against the table as she stood up "Shut up with the religious bs would you. Despite your beliefs that is still your daughter. I may not be the religious type, but I know that God wouldn't punish anyone for loving one another regardless of what sex the person is. I know that you are supposed to love your children unconditionally. I know that with love also comes with supporting that person. I know you are supposed to be there for the people you love when they go through ups and downs. What you should be asking is what do you know about love Caroline?" Beca asked before taking a breath.

Caroline was about to speak but Beca cut her off.

"No, it's time for you to shut up and listen. Your daughter and the girl that I love with all my heart is currently sobbing back in her room. She is so beyond devastated that her own mother tossed aside because she can't get over this religious belief. All she wanted was to tell you guys and feel loved. Instead, she got her heartbroken. I had to lay there with her in my arms and comfort her while she soaked this shirt in her tears." Beca said grabbing her shirt for emphasis "I had to lay there and try to console her." Beca said angrily as she walked closer to the women.

"You made your own daughter heartbroken because you couldn't accept her. You made her cry. You made her feel like something is wrong with her. You made her feel bad for being herself. You caused her pain for loving who she loves." Beca said in a low tone as she now got in the women's face "Don't you ever say what do I know about love or that you know what's best for Stacie. You may be her mother, but I'll be dammed if I let you cause her any type of pain. I love that girl and I'll do whatever to make her happy till my dying breath." Beca said in a low serious tone.

Caroline stood there looking at the smaller girl with an unreadable look on her face.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and make sure she's ok." Beca said as she shoved Caroline to the side with her shoulder.

"Beca wait." Stephen said as Beca reached her car.

She stopped still feeling heated and turned around "Yes?"

"Under any other circumstances I would have kicked you out but, thank you." He smiled.

"For?" She asked.

"Standing up for Stacie. I see why she loves you as much as she does and why she talks about you non-stop." He said placing a hand on her shoulder "I'm glad she has you in her life. I couldn't have handpicked a better person for her to be with."

"Oh, we're not together. Yet at least." Beca said awkwardly.

Stephen chuckled "Hopefully the next time we meet you two are."

"I told her we'd talk once she isn't so emotional." Beca admitted.

Stephen nodded "I won't hold you longer. Just please make sure my baby is ok. I trust you."

Beca smiled "You have my word. Thank you, sir."

With that Beca got I her car and quickly made her way back to the Bellas house. When she arrived and entered, she saw Chloe in the kitchen and made her way towards her.

"How is she?" She asked.

"Becs what in the fuck is going on? Why is she sobbing?" Chloe asked.

Beca sighed "Look I can't tell you; this is something she has to say. Let's just say it involves her mom." Beca answered.

"Is that where you went?" Chloe asked noticing how Beca still looked angry.

Beca nodded "Yeah."

"Well, whatever happened, I hope it gets better because I can't stand hearing her sob. It's heartbreaking." Chloe said.

"Thank you for looking out for her, I'm heading up there." Beca said.

Beca made her way upstairs and knocked twice on Stacie's door.

"Stace I'm coming in." She announced.

Beca entered the room and saw Stacie still curled up under the sheets.

"Hey, how you doing?" Beca asked softly as she laid down next to the taller girl.

"Well, I'm still alive." Stacie said hoarsely.

Beca chuckled and reached for the water bottle on the nightstand "You won't be if you don't drink water."

Stacie drank some as her phone went off.

"It's my dad." She spoke.

Beca froze as she placed the bottle back on the nightstand. She heard Stacie answer and talk to her dad while she closed her eyes and hoped that Stacie wouldn't be mad about her little visit over there.

After about ten minutes later Stacie hung up and turned to Beca with a questioning look.

"Anything you want to say?" Stacie asked wiping some tears from her cheek.

"I just wanted to help. You know how much I hate seeing you sad and I was mad at your mom so I thought if I maybe talked to her, she would see how wrong she was. I didn't mean to go behind your back and betray your trust, I promise. I'm sorry if I overstepped but I'm not sorry for calling her out on her shit. Don't be mad or sad. Please." Beca rambled frantically.

Stacie sniffed and smiled "Beca it's ok."

"It is?" Beca asked nervously.

Stacie nodded "My dad called and invited us over this weekend for a dinner."

"Wait what?" She asked confused.

"He said he talked to my mom and she's willing to sit down and hear us out. He said she was impressed by you standing up for me and despite her beliefs, she's willing." Stacie said.

"Oh. Well, that's great Stace." Beca smiled.

Stacie reached and held Beca's hand "I don't know what you did or said but thank you."

Beca smiled and brought Stacie's hand up to her lips placing a soft kiss on the back of it "Of course Stace. I'd do anything for you and that beautiful smile."

Stacie brought Beca in for a hug "So what did you say exactly?"

Beca chuckled "Well, you see." She trailed off.

Stacie couldn't help the laugh that escaped knowing how Beca could be.
