Chapter Seven: Mountain Troll
As Harry turned his broomstick back around and lowered himself back towards the ground all of his classmates started cheering and applauding for him while he beamed proudly and waved Neville's Rememberall through the air. After he landed back on the ground he was greeted with several pats on the back. The next thing Harry knew was he was hearing Professor McGonagall's voice.
"Harry Snape!" She called and Harry quickly turned his head around to face her and his face fell and his heart sank. "Follow me." She instructed. "Your father wants to talk to you." She added and at this statement Harry knew for sure that he was dead as Malfoy snickered and Harry followed her back into the castle and to his father's office.
"He's ready to see you now." She told him before he took a deep breath and then reluctantly went inside his office and Severus looked up from his work as Professor McGonagall quietly shut the door behind him.
"Would you be kind enough to explain what just happened a few minutes ago?" He questioned him.
"Malfoy stole Neville Longbottom's Rememberall and I was just getting it back for him. So if you're going to punish me for it then you should really punish him too." Harry told him but his father just simply raised a questioning eyebrow at him.
"What makes you think that I called you in here to punish you?" He asked him.
"You mean you haven't?" Harry questioned him back with complete and utter disbelief.
"No, I saw what happened and I agree with Professor McGonagall. Looks like your father was correct after all." Severus began. "You have extraordinary talent on a broomstick." He told him before smiling rather warmly at him in which Harry managed to smile back. "Although I would advise you not to make a habit of going against the rules." He told him as Harry nodded at him.
"Yes Sir." He replied before he turned back around to face the door.
"Hold on a second Harry." Severus began before Harry turned to face him again. "Minerva and I've been talking and we were both wondering how you would like to be the seeker on the Gryffindor Qudditch team." He said as Harry's face suddenly lit back up with excitement.
"What!?" He exclaimed excitedly.
"That is, as long as you want to be of course." His father told him.
"I would love to!" Harry cried as he couldn't wait to go tell Ron the exciting news.
"Well in that case I will go ahead and let both her and Oliver Wood know then. Now, you better go back to class and make sure that you aren't late for your next one." His father told him as Harry grinned.
"Okay." He replied and his father smiled at him.
"Off you go then." He told him while gesturing him back to the door with a slight nod and they exchanged glances and smiles for a few more moments before Harry left his office.
…
"What!? Seeker!? But first year's never make the house teams." Ron began later on at supper that night. "You must be the youngest Qudditch player in the century." He told him but Hermione just had a look of disgust on her face.
"Well I still think that it's a rather brutal and vulgar sport." She told him while Harry looked around before tossing Patches a bit of scraps underneath the table.
"I'm sorry and when exactly did Harry and I ask for your opinion?" Ron questioned her. "You're probably just jealous because he's on the team and you're not." He told her. "Or is it that you're upset that he's got all of the fame and popularity and the only thing that you're remembered for is getting him expelled from nursery school and being a pain in the ass?" He questioned and with that Hermione got up and left the table in tears.
"Do you think she's alright?" Harry wondered as he watched her go.
"Who cares? She had it coming to her and she had to find out the truth sooner or later. It's her own fault that she doesn't have any friends." Ron said while giving a slight shake of his head.
That's when suddenly at that moment Professor Quirrell burst into the Great Hall. "Troll!" He hollered rather loudly. "Troll in the dungeon!" He announced as the room grew quiet and everybody turned to look at him. "I thought that you would want to know." He said while his eyeballs rolled to the back of his head and he fainted.
A bunch of screams echoed the walls and even Draco Malfoy was panicking. Harry was one of the few people in the whole entire room that was remaining calm. "SILENCE!" Dumbledore shouted on the top of his lungs as he got to his feet. Once the room was quiet again, he continued addressing the room. "Prefects will lead their houses back to their common rooms and teachers will follow me to the dungeons." He explained as Harry and Ron (and Patches) got to their feet and started following Percy back to the Gryffindor common room.
Once Severus saw that his son was safe, he started turning around and heading back towards the dungeon. That's when suddenly it occurred to Harry that Hermione didn't know about the troll. "Come on! We have to find Hermione!" He cried before he turned around and ran into the opposite direction.
"Do we have to!" Ron squeaked while Patches sprinted out in front of them.
"Go on Patches find Hermione!" Harry instructed as both boys started running after the adorable little dog who wound up stopping in front of the girl's lavatory door and started barking and scratching at it. "Hermione are you in there? We have to talk to you." Harry told her.
"Go away!" Hermione sobbed behind the closed door. "I don't want to talk to anyone and besides that boys aren't allowed in here!" She cried.
"Oh for heaven's sake Hermione!" Ron hollered at her. "I already know that you will find this really hard to believe but this is a lot bigger than rules! There's a troll on the loose!" He cried and as Hermione opened the door it wound up being a huge mistake as there standing behind them was a gigantic mountain troll.
