Road of problems
LAX
Stacie sat down in the Starbucks sipping on her coffee as she awaited her fiancée to land. If you ask anyone else in the surprisingly empty airport, they'd say that Stacie looked worried but pissed at the same time, which is an odd but never good thing to see. She took a bite out of her muffin and looked around her, she saw the couple people walking by followed by a cleaner going around picking up any wrappers on the floors and a few employees that had clocked out. She took out her phone and looked at the time, 2:52 AM.
She sighed "8 more minutes." She mumbled.
She placed her phone down and looked down at her cup getting lost in her mind. She thought back on everything that's transpired over the last eight months. When things took a real nose drive for the engaged couple. Just eight months ago the two were as happy as can be and Stacie had zero worries in life. Now however, Stacie was worried and afraid that everything that once was, was now gone.
She thought back to when she was able to convince Beca to start a YouTube account and post her music. Beca was reluctant because she was always worried about showing people her music out of fear of rejection. Like always Stacie won and managed to get Beca to agree and just two months later Beca was signed to a record deal with Capitol records. While Stacie got offered a role in a small horror movie where she played the survivor. She got noticed and since then she'd been appearing in bigger movies and bigger roles. That's when everything was going right for the two.
Beca got to working on her debut album while Stacie got to working on her new role as Rose who was the main killer in a horror movie, she was co-producing. Beca was able to finish her album in three months and Stacie finished her movie in just five months. Shortly after the release of Beca's debut album the label told her that due to the success of it she'd be going on a debut tour. The two were ecstatic to say the least and Beca one night had planned a celebratory dinner to celebrate both of their successes. Of course, Beca had other ideas and the dinner ended up being a proposal dinner with Beca proposing and Stacie instantly saying yes.
That's when the eight months of pure heartache and headaches started for the couple. Shortly after the proposal Beca was set to go on tour, she had asked Stacie to come with, but Stacie had projects she needed to finish up. So Beca was off to do her debut tour which would consist of only going from state to state in the U.S. With Beca gone Stacie decided it'd be best to get through all and any projects to keep herself occupied and that way when Beca came back the two could solely focus on spending time with each other and plan the weeding.
Stacie would be lying if she said she didn't have worries about Beca going on tour. It wasn't that she didn't trust Beca, she just didn't trust other people. The two stayed in constant communication but due to time differences and obviously the workload, they really didn't talk as much as they would of like to.
The initial debut tour was only supposed to be four months long which was tough but doable for the two. However, towards the end of the third month, Beca was told that she'd have to do a European tour as well. Beca called Stacie and told her about it.
"What do mean an extra four months Beca?" Stacie asked.
"They added a European portion that's going to add an extra four months." Beca sighed.
"And what? I don't get a say in this?" Stacie asked.
"I didn't even get a say in it Stace, it's technically in my contract." Beca said tiredly.
"Great so now what? I have to go four more months without you? Four more months of being all by myself?" Stacie asked a bit agitated.
"Stace I'm sorry ok but we both knew this is what came with success and fame." Beca said.
"You sound like you don't even care about this." Stacie said.
"How can you even say that? You know dam well how much I care about us. This is something I have no control over." Beca shot back.
"It doesn't seem like it currently." Stacie said.
"Can we please not do this? I'm exhausted." Beca said.
"Whatever that's all you seem to be lately. Enjoy Europe." Stacie said hurt as she hung up.
That was the first major fight the two had over the past eight months. Over the course of the next four months during European portion, Stacie got more and more lonely having already finished all the projects that were awaiting. She grew more frustrated with not being able to spend time with her fiancée while Beca was traveling and attending all types of parties and celebrations for her success. The weight of this tour was really starting to hit Stacie hard, and it was bringing out some of those insecurities she didn't have at the beginning. Beca was seen taking pictures and hanging out with all these different females and Stacie just couldn't help it.
That's when the doubt started to creep in which led to more arguments between the two. Stacie would bring up the photos or videos that would be posted with Beca defending herself and assuring Stacie she had nothing to worry about. The fights and arguments became more and more constant with them occurring over text, FaceTime, phone calls and even the rare Skype calls when Beca didn't have good phone connection. Due to all the arguments and fights, on top of Beca having to preform night in and night out all over Europe, their communication started to slowly dwindle. What had once been the two talking every day slowly became the two talking every other day until it eventually became the two talking when they could.
Towards the end of the European tour the two hadn't talked in almost two weeks. Stacie was afraid to get in contact not wanting to risk ruining anything more, while Beca would just be completely exhausted from all the traveling and preforming. Not talking did no good to Stacie's mental state and emotional being. This caused the taller girl to begin to question if she would still even have a fiancée when all was said and done. She couldn't fathom losing Beca, not after almost two decades of being in each other's life's. Especially not after the two were recently engaged and had all these plans about being a family.
At the end of the four extra months Beca once again called Stacie with some news. This time it was to tell Stacie that they'd have to make a quick stop at New York to do one final interview. Stacie just responded with a simple "Ok". She honestly didn't know what else to say at this point that wouldn't lead to something bigger. The interview was a relatively short radio interview with Beca just recapping the tour and any upcoming plans. It lasted just fifteen minutes and after it ended it was back onto yet another plane for the smaller girl.
After hearing the interview Stacie received a message that read.
"Heading to JFK. Flight back to LAX leaves in an hour, landing back home at 3 AM. Pick me up by the gate next to the Starbucks and the candy stand."
Stacie looked at it sadly noticing there was no "I love you" or no "I can't wait to see you". There was zero love or affection to it, and it hurt Stacie that Beca would act like nothing, especially after these past eight months. Stacie worried that maybe Beca just didn't care anymore or even love her. She thought about how many celebrities you hear talk about how this fame and tours destroyed relationships. How many relationships fell victim to not being around each other for long periods of time. She worried that Beca probably didn't even need her by her side anymore thanks to the fans and attention she now had. She worried that Beca would find someone better and someone with the same career who could easily be on the road with her at all times.
Which brings us to present day and time, Stacie looked back at the time and saw it was 3 AM. That's when she heard the plane land and her nerves started up once more. She quickly finished the rest of her coffee and muffin before standing up and heading closer to the gate. After taking a few deep breaths to try and calm down she heard the gate open followed by a group of voices. She saw the first wave of passengers walk by and then the second wave. That's when she finally saw Beca's team, the first person was Beca's assistant who was talking to the head of wardrobe. Then came the tour manager followed by band with some other staff. Lastly was Beca who was with her manager Jayden. She saw Beca get pulled to the side by her assistant and tour manger.
"Hey Stacie." Jayden said with a small smile.
"Hey Jay." Stacie said.
"Glad you got my message." He spoke.
"Message?" Stacie asked confused.
"Yeah, the text I sent you with the info of when we were landing and what gate." He spoke.
"Oh, you sent that text?" Stacie asked.
Jayden chuckled "Yeah sorry I probably should have said it was me. That's why it was so dry you know. Didn't really feel comfortable adding any loving words in there." He spoke.
Stacie breathed a sigh of relief "No it's fine, it makes sense."
Jayden patted her shoulder "You know Stacie I know how rough these eight almost nine months have been on the two of you, I'm sorry for all the added dates but we couldn't really do much. These things are never easy on couples especially when this all new to them but that girl over there wouldn't shut up about missing you and wanting to come back to you. Despite everything you were all she could think about, and I know some of the stuff that happened between the of you since I heard it on the busses may make you think differently but it's the truth."
"Seriously?" Stacie asked.
Jayden nodded "Yeah you're literally her world is what I've come to notice. Like I said this touring stuff is never easy on couples and takes time to get used to, but the most important thing is that at the end of the day is having that someone to come home to, that makes it easier. Listen she's had a rough eight months and I know she's not only physically exhausted, but I know she's mentally drained. Just talk to her and sort everything out because form what I've seen and come to learn is that you two are perfect for one another."
Hearing this brought a small smile to Stacie's face "Thank you for everything you've done for her Jay."
Jayden nodded "Of course, it's my job you know. Just do me a favor and take care of our little superstar."
Stacie nodded "Always."
"Great, I'll get our driver to drop you off at yours. We'll handle her bags and all that." He said with a smile walking off towards the driver.
Stacie smiled watching him walk away, she was glad to know that Beca wasn't the one to send that message. Hearing that brought a sense of relief to the taller girl. She turned back towards the gate and her eyes landed on her fiancé. Stacie stood there staring at her and examined her, Stacie could obviously tell that the smaller girl was drained just by looking at her body language. She moved her eyes up towards her face and could tell that she was running on virtually no sleep. She slowly walked forward towards Beca but kept her distance not wanting to interrupt anything.
"Alright well enjoy your well-earned time off Beca. Congratulations on all the success." Stacie heard the tour manager say before walking away along with Beca's assistant.
Beca turned around and saw Stacie standing there with her hands clasped in front of her awkwardly. Beca stood there and stared back at her fiancé who she missed like crazy despite all the problems. After a few seconds of just staring at one another Beca made her way towards Stacie and buried her face in the taller girl's chest wrapping her arms around her. Stacie who was caught a bit off guard by the hug wrapped her arms around Beca and placed a soft kiss on top of her head. The two stayed embraced for a few before Beca finally spoke.
"I've missed you so dam much." She said into Stacie's shirt.
Hearing this caused Stacie to smile and warmed her heart knowing that Beca wasn't always the first to initiate any type of affection. This once again brought a sense of relief to her state of being.
"I've missed you too. More than anything." Stacie said.
Beca broke away "Can we go home now?"
Stacie nodded "Of course."
Beca smiled and grabbed Stacie's hand leaning into her side leading the way. The two made their way to Stacie's car as the driver Jayden instructed to take them home opened the door. The two sat down with Beca cuddling into Stacie's side.
After a quite car ride the two arrived back home and made their way to their room. Stacie sat down on the bed and saw Beca place her bags in front of the closet.
"You, ok?" Beca asked looking back at Stacie.
Stacie nodded "Yeah."
Beca walked over to the bed and sat down besides Stacie holding her hands "Talk to me Stace." She said softly stroking Stacie's hands with her thumbs.
"We're still ok right? Like you still want to be with me?" Stacie asked quietly looking down at their hands.
Beca looked at her fiancé and raised her eyebrows "Yeah what kind of question is that? Of course, I want to be with you baby." Beca said softly.
"It's just with everything that's happened since you left, I just wasn't sure. I didn't know if you still wanted this. If you realized there was something better for you out there, someone who you could travel with and not have to worry about." Stacie said getting a bit emotional.
Beca took a breath "Stacie listen, I understand that this tour took a toll on us and caused some issues, but I like I've always told you, there is no one better for me then you. You are it and that's why I proposed, that's why I want to spend forever with you. No matter what I was doing, where I was at, what song I was preforming or what interview I was attending, you were the only thing on my mind. Even when we had our little arguments all I could think about was coming back home and crawling into your arms. I missed you so much to the point where I'd cry at nights because I didn't have you by my side. Please never doubt my love for you because there is nothing more important than you." Beca said.
Hearing this brought tears to Stacie's eyes. This also brought relief to her knowing that she never left Beca's mind.
"I'm sorry for letting everything get to me. I just couldn't help it." Stacie said.
"Hey, it's ok I understand. I know all the photos and videos didn't help but I promise the next tour we'll plan this out better and I'll make sure you'll be able to come with so we can experience everything together." Beca said with a smile.
Stacie smiled "I'd love that."
"Perfect. Now can we please lay down? I'm exhausted and all I want to do is cuddle with my beautiful wife to be." Beca said.
"Of course, love." Stacie smiled.
The two laid down and cuddled up with one another.
"I love you baby." Beca said quietly as she fell asleep.
Stacie smiled at her fiancé and placed a kiss on her head "I love you too." She whispered.
She went to sleep that night with a smile on her face for the first time in a long time.
