Not a baker
Today was special day, Stacie's birthday. That meant that Beca obviously was going above and beyond for her best friend and the girl she was insanely in love with. Of course, Beca hadn't told Stacie, however. Beca always got nervous, or she swore the universe was trying to keep them apart. But this wasn't about that, this was about doing something special for Stacie because she deserved it. So that finds Beca in her kitchen attempting to bake Stacie some cupcakes and a birthday cake.
She pulls out all the ingredients she'll possibly need and neatly places them in the order she'd need them on the kitchen island.
"Alright Beca, you can make hits out of nothing, and you can answer any music question possible. How hard can baking be?" She asks herself as she prepares.
Hard. Baking is extremely hard is what Beca's answer is. For the life of her she can not bake anything. She either puts too much of something or not enough, and the one-time things seemed to be right, well she dropped the bowl.
"Fuck, why is this so difficult." Beca groaned dropping her head into her flour covered hands as a smoke of flour came up from the contact.
At that moment in time the front door opened and in walked the one and only, Stacie Conrad.
"Woah, what happened here?" Stacie asked with a chuckle as she entered the kitchen.
Beca looked up and smiled "Uh I don't know what you're talking about."
Stacie walked up to her and wiped some flour off the tip of Beca's nose with the pad of her thumb.
"Oh really?" Stacie smirked.
Beca nodded "This what the kitchen normally looks like around this time."
"Uh-huh, I see." Stacie said walking around the kitchen "So this wouldn't have anything to do with the date?" She asked.
Beca shook her head "The date? What's today's date?"
"The 19th." Stacie said crossing her arms and raising a brow.
Beca lifted her hands up like she heard the craziest news "Oh my god is that today? Happy birthday Stacie." She said excitedly.
"Alright tone down the dramatics Angelina." Stacie rolled her eyes.
Beca gave Stacie her usual shit eating grin "Fine, I was trying something new to surprise you for your birthday."
Stacie smiled "Aww Becs, I appreciate the gesture, but you know you don't have to do anything crazy for my birthday."
"I know I just thought it'd be cool to bake you some cupcakes and a cake." Beca said before pointing over her shoulder "But as you can see, it umm didn't turn out the way I wanted."
Stacie chuckled "You don't say."
Stacie gave Beca a quick hug "All I need to make my birthday special is you Becs."
"Alright go change and do whatever you usually do while clean this up." Beca said shooing Stacie towards her room.
Once she heard the bedroom door shut, she pulled out her phone and called up her assistant.
"Hey Beca, what is it?" Her assistant asked as she answered.
"Listen can you do me a favor and bring over a cookies n cream ice cream cake with some candles?" Beca asked.
"Ah I see baking was a disaster." Her assistant joked.
"Yes, it was Ken. So can you please bring me the cake?" Beca pleaded.
Kennedy chuckled "Of course I'll be there in ten." She said before hanging up.
Sure, enough exactly ten minutes later Kennedy dropped off the cake with candles while Stacie was still changing and showering after getting home from work.
Five minutes later Stacie stepped out wearing a white hoodie with a pair of black sweatpants, hair still wet and glasses on.
She reached the kitchen that now was dark with only the candles lighting up the kitchen.
"What's this?" Stacie asked with a smile.
Beca smiled before singing happy birthday to Stacie who was beaming at the effort.
When Beca finished, Stacie smiled and approached the cake before closing her eyes and blowing out her candles.
"Cookies n cream?" Stacie asked happily.
Beca nodded "Your favorite."
Stacie gave Beca a tight hug "Thank you."
"Of course." Beca said returning the embrace before cutting the taller girl a piece.
They both sat down on the sofa with their pieces of cake.
"This is so good." Stacie said.
"You got a little something." Beca said with a smile as she wiped off some ice cream from the side of Stacie's lips with her thumb.
"Thanks. Now this is how you make a cake." Stacie smirked.
Beca rolled her eyes "Real funny Conrad."
"I'm just saying you are many things Mitchell, but a baker is not one of them." Stacie said.
Beca shook her head and laughed internally. Despite her feelings for the taller girl, this was all she truly cared for. All she ever wanted was for Stacie to be happy and for her to be smiling.
