Hello everyone, welcome to my first ever English fanfiction.

I had a while ago that idea for a fanfiction and to my knowledge no one write something similar (my apology if it isn't the case). The two biggest inspirations for the fic are first (of course) Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken aka That time I got reincarnated as a slime and the Superior Spider, in which Dr Octopus defeat Spiderman buy switching their consciousness, but as he became Spiderman he also acquired his knowledge and moral and decide to become a superior Spiderman.

It's been a long time since I wrote something and the first time I write in English, so it's mostly a writing exercise for me and critics are of course welcome, just keep in mind that their won't be very elegant phrasing and divers vocabulary. Nonetheless, I hope that you will enjoy it.

Without further ado … let's begin!

Chapter 1: That time I met the Sludge Villain

Today hasn't been a good, as most days were.

If you want to be a hero that badly, there's a quick way to do it. Believe that you'll be born with a quirk in the next life and swan dive off the roof!

The words of his ex-friend and now full time bully Kacchan echoed in his head. Izuku had again made Bakugo angry when he learnt that Izuku had also applied to the same hero school: UA. For some obscure reason, Bakugo thought that Izuku was looking down on him. If he could get down of his massive ego, he would understand that I'm not. Thought Izuku. He clenched against his chest the half burn notebook entitled "Hero analysis for the future N°13", this day was already too long and he just wanted head home and crash on his bed. He turned inside a narrow alley, which was a shortcut and under a little bridge. He heard a slight noise and turn his head, there, at about 10 meters from him was a man, Izuku couldn't see him clearly, because he was still in the shadow of the bridge.

Was there someone behind me? I didn't noticed …

"That damn hero … What was he doing here?" Mumbled the man.

As he stepped out of the shadow, Izuku could see him more clearly and with dreadful eyes, he realized that he wasn't an ordinary man. His body was made of dark green mud-like substance and he had sharp teeth and big round eyes. His eyes locked on young Izuku and he started to smile.

"Hello little one, what are you doing here all alone? Don't you know that it is dangerous? You could meet dangerous people … like me!"

Izuku's mind rose all the red flag it could, but when he started to flee, he couldn't move is feet, when he looked down he saw that his red snickers were covered in dark green mud. He fell on the floor as the dark substance dragged him toward the villain.

"Your body will be a perfect cover to escape that hero." He said with a sinister smile.

As he was dragged closer and closer, Izuku wanted to scream but his mouth was covered by the mud and into his throat. He could not breathe and started to claw the mud that covered his mouth, but his efforts were useless.

Izuku fought as hard as he could, he kicked, clawed, bite.

"Shhshh, easy, it will be only painful for a minute then your body will me mine."

Is this the end? Is this how I die? Please someone … I want to live …

But none came, and the world became dark.

When Izuku opened his eyes, he saw a familiar celling. He wasn't in the back alley anymore but in his room as the numerous figurines and posters hanging on the wall would indicate but something felt off. He didn't felt the warmth of the room, nor the bounciness of the bed.

"You're a real piece of work, you know that?"

The new but familiar voice startled him; he got up and faced the intruder. The man in his late twenties was sitting on Izuku's desk chair behind him on the desk was his computer playing his favorite video of All might, the video seemed like it was playing over and over. He was tall and very pale with big bags under his eyes and his long and greasy black hair fell on is shoulder. Despite that, Izuku recognized his sharp teeth and big round eyes. It was the sludge villain, or at least his human form.

"Can't you simply let go? It'll be easier for me and less painful for you." He continued.

Izuku was still confused but oddly, he wasn't scared anymore.

"Why are we in my room?" He asked.

"This isn't your room; I think this is your consciousness." He spin the chair to take a look at the room. "You really like All Might, that's a bit creepy."

"You think?"

"Look man, people usually don't put such a fight when I try to take over their body. I swoop in, they struggle for a moment then it's over. It's the first time that ever happened; I'm as uncomfortable as you are right now ..."

Izuku was dumbfounded; the man was so casual in his speech like he wasn't talking about murdering a child but talking about the weather.

"What is wrong with you?" He asked, not expecting any kind of respond.

"Hum?" As he was observing closely an All Might action figure, the question caught is attention. "Well we're stuck here for God knows how long anyway, might as well chit-chat, what's your name?"

Izuku hesitated for a moment and instinctively looked for the exit; he then realized that there wasn't any door.

"I told you kid, it's no use, we are in your consciousness. Right now, your actual body is in that back alley being taken over by mine. Your mind's gonna disappear. Now, what's your name?"

"I…Izuku"

"Nice to meet you Izuku. I just want to tell you that it isn't personal, I know that what I'm doing isn't really nice, but my survival comes first, that how it always was".

Silence fell for a moment, his calm and charming attitude, became sad and cold.

"Wha … What is your name?" Izuku asked.

"Well … I don't have one, or if I had one I forgot it. I have a number some guys in lab coat gave me, but I never took the effort to remember it. I used to live in a laboratory; they studied my quirk I guess. Couldn't remember the life outside the lab. I had the TV and internet in my cell, so that was nice, but it was lonely." He stared into the distance, more talking to himself than to the young boy now. "You know, I used to like super heroes too. I often imagined that they would come and free me from my isolation, take me under their wing and make me their sidekick. It never happened… I realized that I had to take my destiny into my own hands."

"Then why not starting over?"

The question took him off guard; he almost forgot that he was still in the kid's consciousness. Izuku realized that he too grew up lonely; it probably was the first time that he told anyone his story. Was it because he needed someone to know him? Even if it was just a little bit, even if it was the consciousness a kid who was gonna die anyway? They both didn't know.

Another silence, Izuku stared to feel more and more tired; he struggled to keep his eyes opened. The man must have realized that because he gently caught Izuku who was falling and laid him on the bed.

"It's almost over, don't worry it'll be painless now…"

Izuku closed his eyes, and the breathing slowed.

The man watched as the young kid started to fall asleep. He turned around and sat at the chair. At that moment, the video on the computer stopped and a new one began. It was a video of a kid being beaten up by some bullies in a park, then the camera closed up and put itself between the kid on the ground and the bullies. The man realized then that he was watching Izuku's memory.

As far as he could remember, Izuku Midoriya wanted to be a hero, not because of the fame or money, but because he wanted to save the other with a smile like his idol All Might.

However, sometimes life wasn't fair and Izuku learnt that at the age of four when he was diagnostic as quirkless. Alongside 20% of the population, he was born without a quirk, a superpower. This new "race" of humanity was seen as the next evolutionary step of Mankind, a Homo Novus or a Homo Sapiens 2.0 if you'd like. As such, quirkless people were often be seen as inferior and cast aside …

Izuku wasn't an exception, when his classmate heard the news, he lost all of his friends and was bullied by everyone, even the teachers turned a blind eye when he would come at school full of bruises and clothes in shreds. A few years after the doctor dropped the news, his father left them, him and his now single mother. She was his only comfort when the whole world seemed against him, so he tried so ease the burden off her shoulder. But deep down, even if he knew that his mother wouldn't approve, he still wanted to be a hero, even if he had to become the first quirkless hero.

As the film of Izuku's life was playing before his eyes, the man felt every emotion Izuku felt. His joy whenever he encountered a hero. His sadness when he learned that he was quirkless. The warmth of his mother's embrace. His anger when he was beaten up by Katsuki. The solitude of his isolation. The terror he felt when he was caught by the sludge. The pity he felt as he heard his murderer's story. The calmness as he fell into sleep for the last time. And the regret of never being able to become a hero.

As Izuku's consciousness started to fade away, so was the room, first the furniture, then the action figures and the posters. At the end there was only the man, Izuku asleep and the last poster of All Might hanging above the bed captioned "I AM HERE". The man then remembered Izuku's last word

Then why not starting over ?

No it was too late for him, he didn't have faith neither in the heroes, neither in society, in fact he hated them.

But you do … He thought. From now on, we will both be Izuku Midoriya.

He put his hand on Izuku's face, as the rest of the boy's consciousness faded away, his body became a dark green substance and then he fused with the boy sleeping.

"Realize your dream, become a hero, for both of us."

Voila !

Hope you enjoyed it ! I don't know if there's gonna be a regular update, but I had a lot of fun writting the first chapter, and I'm urious about what you guys think.
