Hopefully this explains some questions. Hope you enjoy.
I have no rights to Riverdale or these characters.
Jughead walked up the stairs to school. Walking in he stopped when he heard someone calling his name.
"Jughead!" Kevin called, seeing him walk through the door, "you need to find Betty."
"What?" Jughead asked, "why?"
Kevin pointed down the hall. There was a large gathering standing in front of a group of lockers.
"What's that about?"
"That's why you need to find Betty, before she gets to her locker."
Walking down the hall towards the group of students, Jughead pushed his way to front only to find himself behind a frozen Betty.
Plastered to her locker were pictures of them. In both Jughead had his hands on her and Betty's eyes were closed.
In red paint or something were the words SERPENT SLUT.
Wrapping an arm around her shoulder, Jughead tugged her through the crowd, "stop Jug, it's just someone with paint," she fought.
"That's not paint," he said pushing her head into his shoulder.
"See everyone!" a voice called down the hall, "Little Miss Perfect really is a Serpent slut!"
Spinning, Jughead stopped. It was red and he was videoing the whole exchange.
Betty gasped, "Archie?" she questioned, tears filling her eyes.
Turning Jughead saw Betty running down the hall into the girl's locker room.
"I've got her Jughead," Veronica said following her friend.
"Her mom will never approve," Archie said coming to stand by Jughead, his phone in his face.
"Would yours?" Jughead asked, "I mean I thought you two were best friends."
Archie laughed, "we stopped being friends the moment you two kissed and did whatever else you did. She's tainted now."
"Your world class, red, really world class," Jughead mused walking towards his locker.
Veronica slipped into the locker room and followed the sounds of sobs into the showers. Betty was sitting in one of the stalls. Sobs racking her body.
"Oh, B," she said sitting down and pulling her friend to her.
"Why would he do that me?" Betty sobbed, "we've known each other our whole lives."
Veronica snorted, "you don't get it do you?" she asked letting go of Betty.
"Get what?" Betty asked wiping her nose on her hand.
"Wow," Veronica said looking at her, "you're Archie's back up."
Betty shook her head, "his what?"
"Betty, I say this as your best friend," Veronica said pulling Betty up, "Archie only cares about what you can do for him. He doesn't like you in other way than having you in his back pocket."
"But V," she argued, "you two are together."
"Yes, we are."
"So how am I the back up?"
"Does Archie ever call you and just want you to come over so he can play you some lame song on his guitar?"
"Sometimes."
"And you go every time?"
"That's what friends do."
"No, that's what a doormat does."
"Excuse me?" Betty snapped.
"I don't mean to offend, B, but that's what you are."
Betty looked at Veronica and closed her eyes. Leaning back against the wall, she thought about all the times over the past 2 years that Archie had asked her to come over. She had though it meant he was starting to see her as more than a friend. But then Veronica had come to town.
"He doesn't care about me at all does he?" Betty murmured.
"Not in the way Jughead does."
"Jughead?" Betty asked, her eyes lighting up.
"Oh my God, you do like hobo!" Cheryl squealed.
"Cheryl get out!" Veronica ordered.
"No!" Cheryl stated plainly, "it's about time Goody Too Shoes got interesting."
Betty stared at Cheryl. Her world falling apart made her more interesting. Of course. Cheryl thrived on drama and mayhem. She usually caused it.
"How am I going to get through the day?" Betty asked no in particular.
"You walk around with your head held high," Cheryl said looking at her, "show Archie Andrews that you found a better guy."
"What?" Betty and Veronica asked in unison, surprise in both their voices.
Cheryl shrugged, "look I may not like hobo personally, but him taking you out the gathering this morning was very knight in shining leather."
"You can do this Betty," Veronica said squeezing her hand.
Nodding, Betty cleaned her face up and walked out into the hallway. Thank goodness everyone had gone to class.
Hurrying to her locker, Betty didn't notice Jughead had come out of class, "are you okay?" he asked coming to stand beside her.
Betty looked at him and shook her head, "no," she whispered.
Opening his arms, she stepped into his embrace and rested her head against his chest. Listening to his heartbeat.
Cheryl and Veronica stood in the hallway and smiled. Betty may be the quietest Vixen and the most reserved, but right now she was the most desirable girl at Riverdale High.
Archie stood by the water fountain and took more pictures. He couldn't wait till after school. Alice Cooper was going to ground Betty until they left for college.
Gently pulling away from Jughead, Betty looked up at him, "thank you," she whispered.
Cupping her cheeks, "you're welcome," he whispered back, kissing her forehead.
Closing her eyes, Betty grasped his jacket.
Jughead smirked. The shy minx was starting to make her appearance. He couldn't wait.
The rest of the school day went by without incident. Jughead instead of heading home after school walked towards a road where two 'friends' lived right next door to each other. 'Friends' who always had each other's back.
Sitting on the steps out front of the house Kevin told him was Red's he waited.
Fred Jones looked out his front door at the teenager in the Southside Serpents leather jacket. "Jughead," he said aloud, recognizing the inky black hair.
Walking back to the kitchen, Fred picked up the phone and dialed an all to familiar number.
"FP," he said when the line picked up, "you're going to want to come to my house."
"Why would I want to do that Fred?" FP asked, annoyed.
"Your son is sitting on my front porch."
"Jug?"
"Unless you have another son, then yeah, Jughead."
"Dammit, I'll be right there."
Archie walked down the street his arm around Veronica. She stopped when they walked up to Archie's house. Jughead was sitting on the porch.
"What are you doing Serpent?" Archie spat.
"Waiting for you," Jughead answered standing up, "we're not on school property, now I can kick your ass for what you did to Betty."
Dropping his backpack, "give it your best shot."
"Archiekins," Veronica warned.
"Shut up, Ronnie," Archie seethed removing his letterman's jacket.
Taking Archies's lead, Jughead took off his Serpents jacket.
Archie took a run at Jughead, who caught him with a punch to the stomach.
"Oomph" Archie groaned.
Stepping back, fists raised, Jughead waited.
Archie stood up and swung his first hard, connecting with Jughead's cheek. Sending him downward.
FP Jones thew his truck into park just as Jughead tackled Archie to the ground and was beginning to wail on him.
Fred Andrews came running out his house.
Both dads grabbed their boys and pulled them apart. The boys spitting mad at each other.
"What are you doing boy?" FP asked pushing Jughead towards the truck.
"He attacked Betty," Jughead said snatching his jacket from the ground.
"Who's Betty?" FP asked looking his son, "you've never mentioned her. Is she your girlfriend?"
"No," Jughead answered, "I don't know."
"What did you do to Betty?" Fred asked Archie, who was still laying on the ground, catching his breath.
"Nothing," Archie said sitting up and instantly regretting the decision.
"Archibald Andrews," Fred warned.
"Fine, I snapped some not so innocent pictures of her and the Serpent there."
"Why would you do that?"
"Because she's mine."
Veronica huffed, "excuse me?"
"Ronnie, come on you know what I mean."
"No, I don't think I do," Veronica said stamping her foot, meaning he better start explaining.
Jughead stopped by his dad's truck, "how did you know where I was?"
"Fred called me and said you were sitting on his porch."
"Wait you two know each other?" Jughead asked looking at Archie's dad.
"We went to high school together, so yeah we know of each other."
Jughead wasn't listening. Betty was coming down the sidewalk. She looked so sad. He wanted to hold her and tell her it would be okay.
FP realized his son wasn't listening. Following his sons' sight line, he saw him staring at a very pretty blonde girl. A very innocent blonde girl.
"Boy," he warned.
Jughead was anything but innocent. He had been around the block a few times. Much to FP's challenge to find the right girl.
Being that Jughead was Serpent Prince, he got what he wanted and sometimes more than he wanted.
"ELIZABETH COOPER, YOU GET IN THIS HOUSE THIS MOMENT," a voice demanded.
FP turned and took in Alice Smith in all her northside glory.
Betty hurried past Jughead, her face bright red.
"Alice Smith's daughter?" FP asked looking at Jughead, "you really are a younger version of me."
Fred laughed and looked FP, "you're not kidding. Kid throws punches like you used to too."
The two dads laughed. Their sons confused.
Betty sat on the couch as her mother fumed. She was waving pictures around, "who is this boy?" she demanded, "and why are his hands on you? Are you having sex with him?"
"Mom, no," she stammered, the thought of sex with Jughead made her heart race.
"Elizabeth!" Alice snapped, shoving the pictures in her face.
Betty grabbed the pictures. They were the same ones from school. Archie.
Shaking her head, she was about to explain when there was a knock on the door.
Alice went an opened the door, Fred and Archie stood there. Archie looking worse for wear.
"Fred," Alice said coldly.
"Alice, just listen," Fred said, "I know we don't see eye to eye."
Waving her hand, she let them into the house. Betty glared at Archie. Fred watched the interaction and realized the bigger reason Archie had done what he had done, he was jealous. Betty wasn't supposed to find someone else to have feelings for.
"Archie has some explaining to do," Fred said sitting in the chair across from Betty.
"Mrs. Cooper," Archie said, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have sent you those pictures or the comments people were saying at school."
"Why did you?" she grilled stepping close to Archie, "why would you even have these pictures?"
"Because I took them."
"Why?"
Archie stared at his shoes, how was he supposed to explain this and not get in more trouble.
"Archie," Fred warned.
Taking a deep breath, "I just thought you should know that Betty is hanging on and around with a Southside Serpent," he finished.
Fred shook his head. His boy a lot of growing up to do.
"A SOUTHSIDE SERPENT?" Alice screeched.
"Time to go," Fred said guiding Archie towards the door. Stopping he looked at Betty who was squeezing her fist so tight her knuckles were white.
"EXCUSE ME?" Alice growled, "you better start answering me, young lady."
Betty looked at her mom, nothing she said was going to make this any better, "yes, Jughead is a Southside Serpent, but he's not bad."
"Not bad?" Alice chided, "they are all bad."
"Not, Jughead," Betty shot back standing up.
"Are you dating him?"
"No," Betty answered quickly, "I don't know."
"Betty…"
"No, mom," she said straightening her back, she was done being scared to be who she was, "I like Jughead. He makes me feel beautiful and lets me be me," she finished dashing up the stairs.
Alice stared after her daughter. She was terrified of Betty finding out about her past as a Serpent, but more terrified that Betty may fall in love with a Serpent and get her heart crushed.
The drive back to the trailer was quiet. FP let Jughead sort out his thoughts. Knowing his son had a lot of them.
"What was Alice waving around?" FP asked as they walked into the trailer.
"Pictures."
"What kind of pictures?" he pushed, "you didn't…"
"They are innocent for the most part."
"The most part?"
Jughead sat down on the couch and looked at his dad, "in one Betty is between my legs," he explained, "she had just cleaned the cut on my cheek, nothing happened, besides her kissing me on the cheek," he continued, "then there's one where she is straddling me in some barely there cheerleader shorts, my arms around her," he nodded, "then I'm guessing the last one is me holding her in the hallway after Red plastered the first two pictures to her locker and wrote Serpent Slut on them."
"Red?" FP laughed, "you mean Archie."
"Yeah, red."
"Nothing happened?"
Shifting uncomfortably, "boy," FP warned.
"I wouldn't pressure her," Jughead shot out, "I like her."
FP nodded and looked at his son, "you really do, don't you?"
"Yes."
"Her mom is not going to like this at all."
"How would you know?"
"Her mom used to be a Serpent," FP explained, "when we were in high school, Alice Cooper was Alice Smith and was the baddest girl in school."
"You two hooked up, didn't you?" Jughead guessed.
"Yeah, a time or two."
Shaking his head, Jughead didn't want to know about his dad's sexual past.
So the parents know each other. What does this mean for Jughead and Betty? What did you think?
