Marinette had always loved the rain. The soft drizzling sound it made and the feel of raindrops on her skin. She often went walking in the rain and only took an umbrella with her if it was raining hard.
Today when she was in the bakery, it started raining lightly. Marinette couldn't wait until she had finished helping her parents and to take a stroll in the rain.
There were only a few customers left and when the last one ordered a croissant she skipped to the door and walked outside.
It wasn't raining hard so she didn't need an umbrella. She went to the park near her house when suddenly she heard someone softly sniffling on a bench.
Adrien's POV
Why am I so alone? My mother was always there for me when no one else was. She would hug me tight and tell them it was going to be okay but now she's gone and nothing is ever going to be okay again.
My father had also been more friendly when mum was there but now she's gone and I feel as if he's gone too.
I was sitting alone on a bench in the park. It was raining but I didn't mind because it hid my tears from everyone around me. I had run away from the mansion because it reminded me too much of how much I had lost.
Today my father had told me to 'grow up' when I asked him if we could spend the day together. The reason why I wanted to do that is because today was the day my mum would spend with me all day and sometimes even my father would have joined in. She was a busy person too but on that day she would cancel everything just to spend time with me. I miss her so much.
I started whimpering, more tears falling out of my eyes. I hadn't cried that much since the day Mum disappeared. I never cried because my father had told me that crying was a sing of weakness, something he shouldn't show being the Adrien Agreste.
I suddenly felt two small arms wrap around me. I saw two black-blue glistening pigtails and immediately know that it was Marinette. She hugged me and at the touch that felt so familiar I started sobbing harder.
She gently stroked my blond locks while I let out all the grief I had held inside me for so long.
"Shh, shh, it's going to be okay." She gently whispered. "Do you want to talk about it?"
I nodded into her shoulder and started breathing deeply to calm myself down. She gently let go of me and I immediately missed her warmth. I looked up at her tears still slowly streaming down my cheeks as I told her everything.
I told her how alone I felt, how my father didn't really look after me. I told her about the things I used to do with my Mum on this day and what my father had told me when I asked to spend this day with him.
She was a great listener and hugged me when I broke down again after telling her about how alone I felt. She gently held me tight and I was so glad to have her in my life.
I looked up at her with a small smile on my face. It wasn't one of my fake, model smiles. No, it was a real wholehearted smile I gave her, thanking her for being there for me when no one else was.
"Don't worry about it. I'm happy to have been able to help you." She smiled at me sweetly. "Do you want to go to the bakery? I know it isn't the nicest place but maybe we can do something together there. We should also get you dry because you're soaking and I don't want you to catch a cold."
I smiled at her thoughtfulness. "Yeah, that's a good idea." I stood up and offered her my hand to pull her up.
She gladly accepted it but when she was on her feet I didn't let go. She blushed only slightly and squeezed my hand to show me that she didn't mind.
