Book Three: Harry Snape and The Prisoner of Azkaban
Chapter Thirty-Nine: School Shopping
A quick note from the author: Alright before I get on with this part of the story, I just wanted to say that originally book three was going to have a different title since it's already been known that Sirius Black is innocent in this AU. However, I figured that I could make this about Peter Pettigrew instead so I decided to keep the name. Enjoy!
Lily and Severus Snape were at a pretty big time in their lives for both of their oldest children had recently had big birthdays. Their second oldest child Sarah was now eleven years old which meant that she would be starting her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year, and their oldest child Harry was now thirteen which meant that he was an official teenager.
To celebrate his birthday both of Harry's parents had let Ron and Hermione spend the night, and Sarah got to go have a sleepover with Ginny on her birthday. They were all currently at Diagon Alley to gather their school supplies. Harry was extra excited about his third year at Hogwarts beginning since he had signed permission to go to Hogsmeade for the first time. However, he hardly had time to show it because all his little sister had been talking about since the day she turned eleven was that she couldn't wait to be sorted into her house, receive her wand, and take Fluffy with her.
Fluffy was a rather old cat as he was just as old as Harry was and even though he could still be rather moody sometimes, his age had seemed to docile him up. Once Hermione had heard about the fact that Sarah was going to take Fluffy with her, she decided that she was going to get a cat as well, so she went into the Magical Menagerie to look for one.
"Mum can I go get my wand now?" Sarah questioned her eagerly.
"Yes sweetheart just make sure to take Harry with you." Her mother replied.
"Why am I her babysitter!?" Harry cried out as Severus looked at him sternly.
"Cause you're the oldest and it's your responsibility." He told him as Harry just simply rolled his eyes at him.
"Like that's my problem." He replied.
"Don't you dare talk back to me or consider yourself grounded for the rest of the summer! And no Hogsmede! Is that understood?" His father questioned him before Harry took a deep breath and sighed heavily.
"Yes sir." He replied reluctantly.
"Good, now take your sister and take her to Ollivanders to get her wand and then you can finish your school shopping." Severus told him.
"Come on Sarah, let's go." Harry told her but she was already way ahead of him and had bumped into a blonde-haired girl with bluish-grey colored eyes that had just come out of the robe shop.
"Hullo there, I'm Sarah." She began happily.
"I'm Brianna and I don't care." She replied with a roll of her eyes before she started walking away from her.
"That was rude!" Sarah exclaimed as Harry finally caught up to her.
"I think she was a Malfoy." Harry told her. "I guess it just runs in the family." He added before they both went into the wand shop together and once again Harry was face to face with Mr. Ollivander.
"Well, well I didn't think that I would ever be seeing you again Mr. Snape." He began with a grin. "This must be your little sister. I can tell. She looks exactly like your mother." He finished.
"So now what happens then?" Sarah wondered but before Harry could answer her question Mr. Ollivander started placing wand after wand inside her left hand. (After she told him that she was left-handed.) That is until they had finally found a match. A ten-inch willow wand with veela hair for its core. Sarah thanked the man for her wand and then paid for it before putting it inside its box and skipping out of the shop.
While Sarah continued to work on her school shopping Harry glanced back down at his own shopping list. As he started examining what books he still needed to buy he heard a familiar voice calling his name and looked up to see Hermione holding an ugly ginger cat that was missing quite a bit of hair inside her arms.
"Hey Harry, where's Ginny and Sarah? I wanted to introduce them to Crookshanks." She explained with a grin as she started scratching him behind the ears, but Harry just simply shrugged at her.
"I dunno. They're around here somewhere." He replied. "Say, did you have to see a girl around here that looks like Draco Malfoy?" He wondered.
"You mean his sister Brianna?" She inquired.
"Yeah, her. I didn't know that he had a sister." Harry told her.
"Me neither until he wrote me about it over the summer and told me that she would be starting Hogwarts this year too. We wanted to see each other but writing letters is as far as his parents would let us do." She explained.
"Well, it looks like having Draco for a brother hasn't done her much good. Sarah only said hi to her, yet she had a huge attitude about it." Harry told her.
"Hmm that's funny, Draco isn't really like that as much now. At least with me." She told him.
"Well duh, that's because he likes you." Harry pointed out. "Although I have to admit that he was acting nicer to me and Ron towards the end of the year last year." He added. "Anyways, I have to go. I really don't want to go but I have to hurry up because my Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley live in another house now and they invited us and Aunt Marge over for supper and Mum and Dad said that I have to go even though none of us can really stand my Aunt Marge." He explained.
"Alright, well good luck Harry." Hermione told him.
"Thanks, I'll see you at school." He told her before he turned around and walked away from her.
