Note: I really wish that I had the box set for The Raccoons, as well as a GameCube with copies of Star Fox Adventures and Star Fox Assault. However, I might own those someday, if I get a job and the right amount of money that I can use. Okay, I'm rambling, so back to the story. Before we move on, I want to say something to a reviewer.

Ron: Don't worry, Milton Midas is in jail. However, Bolan isn't working alone, so Fox, Krystal and Wolf still have to be cautious of him and his allies. Stay tuned.

I apologize for rambling, I really need to shut up sometimes. Now that I've said what I needed to, it's time for chapter nine.

Chapter 9: Fox vs Bolan

The Evergreen Mountains were large, but they were nothing Fox couldn't handle. In fact, the orange tod felt like he had enough energy to travel on them again. However, he noticed that Bert and Melissa were practically exhausted. As such, Fox began to lead them back to the Raccoondominium. While doing so, he heard something in his head.

Fox, if you can hear me, this is a warning: avoid a lynx named Eric Bolan! He's an alien hunter, and he's going towards the mountains! If you see him, either stay out of sight or take him down!

It was a telepathic message from Krystal. Alarmed, Fox began to look around for the Eric Bolan Krystal had mentioned. To his shock, the lynx was a few feet near him. In addition, the orange tod was in direct sight. Not wanting Bert and Melissa to get caught in the crossfire, he held his hand out to them.

"What is it, Fox?" Bert asked.

"You two should head back to the Raccoondominium." Fox said.

"Why?" The taller raccoon asked.

"Because I have something to take care of!" The orange tod stated.

Bert and Melissa continued walking down the mountain, leaving Fox by himself. The orange tod watched on, waiting for Bolan.

Fox! Krystal's voice screamed in Fox's head. What are you doing?!

Something that's either stupid or brave, Fox responded, wish me luck!

Bert and Melissa didn't go unnoticed by Bolan, as the lynx started speaking with them.

"Have the both of you seen any aliens in the area?" Bolan asked.

"No, sir!" Bert lied.

"Definitely not!" Melissa lied.

"Then, I'll keep looking!" The lynx said. "Have a nice day!"

Bolan continued to walk up the mountain, where Fox was in sight. However, the orange tod simply looked at the lynx.

"So, you're Eric Bolan?" Fox spoke.

"The one and only." Bolan stated. "You're one of the three strange figures I saw on one of my cameras."

"Now I know who the cameras we took down belonged to." The orange tod said. "Thanks for telling me that."

"I have to wonder, why did you take them down?" The lynx asked. "You're not aliens, are you?"

"So what if we are? You don't have the authority to imprison us, given how you're an alien hunter!"

"Aliens deserve to be locked up!"

"No, you do! People like you need life imprisonment for their actions!"

"Why don't you say that to my fist?!"

"I will!"

Fox punched Bolan in the gut, which caused him to curl up into a ball. However, the lynx then launched himself at the orange tod, tackling the latter. After that, the two began to wrestle on the mountain, trying to keep each other down. After fifteen seconds, Fox found himself pinned to the ground by Bolan.

"You're coming with me, alien!" Bolan triumphantly said.

"Not on your life!" Fox said, punching the lynx off of him.

Bolan threw himself at Fox, attempting to pin him to the ground again. However, the orange tod was quick on his feet, as he punched the lynx in the side. The two traded punches and kicks for nearly three minutes, each blow hitting each other. Then, without warning, Bolan took out an odd-looking gun, aiming it at Fox. The lynx then fired it, trapping the vulpine in a net.

"Dammit!" Fox shouted.

Now that he was in a net, Fox found himself being dragged by Bolan. The lynx only let out a sly chuckle, confident that the orange tod was now in his clutches. However, the feline heard the net snap open. Turning his head, he saw that Fox had freed himself of the net. The vulpine was holding a pocket knife in his hand, having used it to cut the net.

"Who the hell are you?!" Bolan shouted.

"My name is not important." Fox said. "However, if you want to know about me, I am a mercenary who has had more combat training than a man like you! I'd suggest leaving, unless you want the fight to end in our deaths!"

Bolan looked around for a moment, as if looking for something, then stared at Fox.

"You win this round." The lynx spoke. "But, know this: I am NOT working alone! I have a team of alien hunters with me, and they are eager to capture aliens like you! Until next time, you haven't seen the last of me!"

After that, Bolan walked off, going through the trees in the woods. Once he was gone, Fox decided to walk back to the Raccoondominium.

"You left Fox alone with Bolan?!" Wolf growled.

Back at the Raccoondominium, Bert and Melissa had finished telling Wolf, Krystal, Ralph, Lisa and Bentley about their encounter with Bolan. Needless to say, they were all shocked.

"Fox told us to come here!" Melissa stated.

"He did, we swear!" Bert cried.

"Wonderful," Wolf snorted, "the Pup's going to get himself killed by an alien hunter! So much for waiting for the portal to show up again!"

"If Mr. Bolan's captured Fox, he's dead meat!" Lisa worried.

"And he'll probably lock us up for harboring aliens!" Ralph added.

"Hold on, everyone, I'm sensing something." Krystal said.

"What is it?" Bentley asked.

"Fox." The cobalt vixen said. "He defeated Bolan, so he's free. A few minutes earlier, Bolan trapped him in a net, but he got out."

"Where's he at?" Ralph asked.

"He's on his way here." The Cerinian stated.

True to Krystal's word, the door to the Raccoondominium opened. After that, Fox stepped into the main room, looking somewhat exhausted.

"Ironic, isn't it?" He spoke. "I was still energetic after the hike, but I'm almost tired now!"

Krystal went over to Fox, hugging him. Fox hugged her back, earning himself a giggle from the cobalt vixen.

"I'm so glad you're okay, Fox!" She said.

"And I'm glad you gave me that telepathic warning over." Fox stated.

The two broke apart, only to meet Wolf's stern face. The lupine looked more annoyed than happy to see Fox. Fox only smiled at him, having a friendly expression on his face.

"Aren't you glad I'm okay as well, Wolf?" Fox asked.

"You could have gotten killed by that bastard, Pup." Wolf scoffed. "Let's face it, I'm only tolerating you because I want Krystal to be happy. But, if you do something stupid like that again, I'll turn you into a fox rug!"

"Come now, Wolf, you guys are safe again!" Ralph said.

"Yeah," Fox said, "which reminds me, I need to speak with Krystal and Wolf in private. Come with me, guys!"

Fox walked down to the clubhouse with Krystal and Wolf following him. Wolf helped Krystal to the place, given how her ankle was still twisted. Once they got in, Fox closed the door and the three Lylatians sat down.

"Alright, what was it you wanted to talk to us about, Fox?" Wolf asked.

"When I finished fighting Bolan, he mentioned that he wasn't working alone." Fox said. "If that's true, we need to be prepared for him and his allies."

"Don't worry, we can beat them." Krystal said.

"I highly doubt that the three of us can defeat Bolan and his fellow alien hunters if they have an army with them." The orange tod stated. "We need an army of our own."

"Good luck with that." Wolf said. "Without our respective teams and allies, we don't have an army! Besides, I doubt that the residents of the Evergreen Forest can help us beat back those creeps."

"Then we'll have to rally them together and give them impromptu weapons in order to fight Bolan!" The vulpine said. "Other than that, we can set up traps that will hinder the alien hunters' attack!"

"Fox, this is crazy!" Krystal stated.

"We're going to have forest resident blood on our hands, Pup!" Wolf said.

"I know, this plan is crazy, and kinda stupid, but we might win if we do it right." Fox said. "Besides, the three of us have been through various threats. If we can handle the Aparoids, we can handle alien hunters."

"I suppose that we can get everyone together tomorrow," Krystal said, "then we can work on making traps with Mr. Sneer. Let's just hope that this plan works, I have a bad feeling about it."

"Don't worry, we'll win!" The orange tod told her. "If we don't, then it was one of my stupidest ideas ever, and I'll apologize to the two of you on the other side."

When night came, Krystal was fast asleep. As such, Fox had to be careful when it came to stepping out for fresh air, as even the smallest noise could wake the cobalt vixen up. Once he stepped out of the clubhouse, the orange tod carefully closed the door. However, before he could have a moment alone, he heard someone speaking to him.

"You love her, don't you?"

Fox looked over to his side and saw Wolf sitting on the ground.

"Krystal?" Fox spoke. "Of course, I love her, she's such a great girl."

"And I can tell that she loves you, too." Wolf said. "If only I got her and Estelle off of Cerinia. I would have found Krystal a suitor, one who's a better person than you."

"There's no need to turn our conversation into that, Wolf." The orange tod said.

"Why shouldn't I?" The one-eyed lupine asked.

"Krystal and I aren't dating yet, so you don't need to be so overprotective." The vulpine said. "Besides, you pushed her through the portal."

"I know that." The older male sighed, then spoke again. "I shouldn't have done that. I feel like I'm becoming Opal, as pushing Krystal through a portal seems like something he'd do. I didn't expect that my disapproval of you being with my daughter would lead to that."

"None of us did, but it was still a terrible thing for you to do!" The younger male said.

Wolf only sighed, looking at the ground in utter shame. While he was happy to be in the proximity of his illegitimate daughter, given how he felt his fatherly instinct grow over time, he was also disapproving over Fox being with Krystal. However, he, like everyone else, knew that it gave him no right to push Krystal through the portal. Now that it was out, Wolf swallowed and looked at Fox.

"Krystal had a nightmare last night." He spoke. "In it, she saw both of us killed in front of her. After that, the person who killed us went after her. While she tried to fight him off, he tied her up and ..."

"And what?" Fox asked.

"He tortured her and assaulted her." Wolf said. "I heard Krystal whimper in her sleep, so I woke her up. When she came to, she started crying and hugged me while telling me about her nightmare. In response, I did what any father would do: I had Krystal get back to sleep, telling her that nothing bad would happen to any of us. However, I can't help but feel like it's not true."

"Wolf," the orange tod said, "we can fight off those alien hunters. Krystal has nothing to worry about, we'll be fine."

"I hope that you're right about this, Pup." The one-eyed lupine said.

After that, Fox and Wolf went back into the clubhouse. However, they didn't go unnoticed by Krystal, who was half-awake.

"Hey." She softly greeted.

"Hi Krystal." Fox greeted.

"Head back to sleep, sweetie, we were just talking." Wolf told her.

"What we're you talking about?" The cobalt vixen asked.

"Nothing," the one-eyed lupine stated, "just head back to sleep."

Fox and Wolf climbed into their beds, falling asleep shortly after. The three Lylatians then slept the night away, awaiting the sun's beautiful light.

Note: Pretty laidback closing to a chapter, wasn't it? Alright, I admit, I didn't really know what to make Fox and Wolf's conversation about. Hell, I almost completely forgot that Krystal still has a twisted ankle. However, I remembered it, and there it is. Until next time guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
