Chapter Forty-Nine: Spotted
Alright, I already know that I said that I would start Wiztanic today and I will in a little bit, but it's getting to an interesting part now and I want to get part three done so I can watch Goblet of Fire and then make my twists on that one. :D
As Severus was on his way out the door, that's when suddenly he bumped into Sarah and Ginny. "Daddy, where are you going?" Sarah wondered.
"Stay here." He began. "I'm going to go look for your brother."
"Harry?" Sarah questioned with uncertainty. "Where is he?"
"Probably with Ron and Hermione." Ginny responded. "Didn't they ever come back from Hogsmeade?"
"No, but now that I think of it of course Weasley and Granger would be involved in this they're always together." Severus began before he started to turn around again.
"Severus, have you seen Mr. Malfoy?" Professor McGonagall inquired as she stepped out the door as Severus stopped again and turned around to face her.
"You mean Malfoy's missing too? That's odd, he's not usually hanging out with my son and his friends." He replied.
"I just haven't seen him all day and he wasn't supposed to go to Hogsmeade as neither of his parents signed his permission form. I think they're still upset that he's been spending an awful lot of time with your son, Weasley, and Granger. In particular Granger since she's muggleborn and the Malfoy family has always been rather strict when it comes to associating with them." She explained.
"That would be rather interesting if they wind up dating someday." Ginny said widening her eyes.
"That actually wouldn't be impossible the way things are looking now even though that wouldn't be the best idea." Professor McGonagall began. "Anyways, what worries me right now is that on the way back from Hogsmeade a group of Gryffindor girls said that a duel broke out earlier in the village and the shrinking spell was used." She told them as Severus turned to look at her with a very serious and worried look upon his face.
"Are you saying that the four of them were involved?" He wondered.
"That's entirely possible as they didn't give any names but the only clue that was used was that a boy got angry when a girl was being harassed." She explained.
"So that boy and girl could have been Draco and Hermione." Ginny suddenly realized.
"Well, can't they just put a spell on themselves to make themselves big again?" Sarah wondered.
"No. That's impossible as if that being the case their wands would be too small, and the engorging spell would be too dangerous, so I have to go brew a swelling solution potion. Luckily it's going to take a bit more than an hour so then we'll have them back to their regular sizes by no time at all." He replied before he went back inside and headed down to the dungeon where Professor Lupin was already waiting for him.
"There you are Severus, where have you been?" He wondered.
"Sorry Lupin, a family emergency has come up. I have reason to believe that my son and his friends had the shrinking spell backfire on them and now I have to brew up a swelling solution potion." He explained.
"What about the wolfsbane potion?" Lupin wondered.
"Don't worry Lupin, I'll go ahead and brew one for you directly afterwards." Severus responded getting out his jar of bat spleens.
"You know speaking of Harry, he asked me to teach him a patronus." Lupin began. "When he was on the train and the dementor attacked him, he heard James' voice." He finished as Severus looked up at him.
"Oh really?" He began while raising an eyebrow at him. "So what did you tell him?"
"I told him that it would have to be up to you and Lily. It's really powerful and somewhat dangerous magic for anybody let alone a thirteen-year-old wizard." He replied while Severus continued looking at him and a moment of silence fell between them.
"Do it." Severus told him after the moment had passed. "After all, Harry's no ordinary teenaged wizard and I want him to be prepared and protected." He told him before he started collecting the other ingredients.
…
"You know, if we don't eat soon, I'm going to shrink even more and waste away to nothing." Ron pointed out as he, Harry, Draco, and Hermione were still on the back of Spooky the Spider.
"Don't worry Ron you won't." Hermione began.
"Oh yeah? What makes you so sure?" He wondered.
"Cause we're headed straight towards Honeydukes. Look." Hermione replied while pointing over at the shop.
"No offense Weasley but sometimes you can be so thick." Draco told him.
"Oh yeah, if I'm so thick Malfoy then explain how the Flumes are going to let a spider come into their shop?" Ron questioned him before Spooky quickly darted through the door.
"Because obviously they probably won't be able to see us. We're too small." Draco replied with a roll of his eyes.
"Hey look, somebody dropped a cauldron cake." Harry told them with a grin while pointing over at it on the floor and a rather large grin stretched a crossed Ron's face as he spotted it.
"Brilliant." He said before all four of them hopped off of Spooky and hurried over towards it and started to eat grabbing little pieces of it at a time since it was even bigger than they were. That's when Hedwig swooped into the room and dropped a gigantic envelope in front of them.
"Harry, looks like you got a letter." Hermione told him.
"Thank you captain obvious." Ron said in a rather snappish and sarcastic tone and Draco just simply scowled at him.
"How on earth am I supposed to open it let alone get it out of the envelope?" Harry questioned but before anybody could answer his question all four of them suddenly met the gaze of Mr. and Mrs. Flume.
