Chapter Fifty-Nine: The Triwizard Tournament
That's when suddenly Severus Snape was standing beside them. "Are you alright Miss Granger?" He questioned her before she glanced up at him.
"Umm yeah I'm fine. Thanks to Draco that is. He's not going to get into trouble is he?" She asked him anxiously.
"No, you were in a life-threatening situation therefore the rule of no underage magic doesn't apply. Now come on we have to get back to the portkey!" He exclaimed and grabbed her hand and pulled her away from Draco while he and Hermione kept exchanging glances and Hermione started breathing heavily as Severus called Harry to him and he quickly ran over to him before glancing up in the sky and saw a skull with a snake coming out of its mouth.
Severus touched Harry's shoulder and then all three of them disapparated and Harry suddenly felt sick to his stomach as they reappeared beside everybody else. "I thought this way was quicker." Severus explained.
"I thought you had to have a license to disapparate." Hermione said.
"You do if you do it on your own. Think of it as driving a car. You can be a passenger without a license." He told her.
"Yeah, speaking of which Harry will be the proper age to get his temps in a couple of years." Lily pointed out with a grin.
"Let's not go there yet." Severus replied with a roll of his eyes before she let out a giggle.
"So what was that thing in the sky?" Harry wondered.
"It was the dark mark." Ginny began in a whisper. "A death eater must have cast it. It signals when somebody has been killed."
"Well I know it wasn't Draco." Hermione began before she started looking around. "Speaking of Draco where is he?" She wondered.
"I didn't see him come with us." Ginny told her before she suddenly felt her heart speed up against her chest.
"Draco!" She hollered before she started to run away and that's when Severus quickly grabbed her.
"Don't worry, I'll go back for him. It's too dangerous for a fourteen-year-old witch." He told her before pushing her back. That's when suddenly he disapparated and the others went back to the burrow.
….
Before Harry and his sister knew it once again, they were headed towards platform nine and three quarters to get on the Hogwarts Express once again. Once Harry spotted the platform, he saw a girl that he had never seen before. She had skin as white as snow, long black hair, and black eyes. Other than his mother, she was the prettiest young woman that he had ever seen.
He also noticed that she was a bit older than him and like Sarah and Luna that she was in the house of Ravenclaw. She turned her head and smiled at him and then blushed beet red. "Oh, hullo there Harry." She began in a Scottish accent as soon as she had caught sight of his scar.
"Hi." He began. "What year are you in?" He asked her.
"Fifth." She replied. "I'm Cho Chang by the way." She told him.
"Oh yeah, that's right. You're the Ravenclaw seeker. My sister is trying out for the Ravenclaw Qudditch team this year, I'm not sure what position she's trying out for though." He somewhat fibbed because he already had a hunch that Sarah wanted to tryout for seeker as well.
"Really? That's cool. Want to sit with me Harry?" She asked him.
"Umm,.. no thanks I've already got a couple people that I'm sitting with." He told her.
"Well alright then, see you later." She told him before flashing him another smile and giving him a slight wave before she walked away.
Harry barely had said a word once they were on the train. He decided to send Sirius a letter to let him know about the recurring dream he had been having and then watched as Hedwig flew out the window with it.
As soon as they had arrived at the castle, they went to their house tables and Hermione and Draco kept glancing up at each other and smiling and Harry noticed a blonde-haired ponytailed girl that resembled Draco sitting by him and he presumed that to be his younger sister Brianna.
Once the sorting had finished the headmaster Albus Dumbledore took the stand and Harry thought that this meant that he was going to start the feast. However, instead he told everybody that he had a couple of announcements to make.
"First of all, I want to welcome all of you to another year at Hogwarts and say an incredibly special welcome to our first years. Second of all I want you all to help me welcome Mr. Alastor Moody as the new defense against the dark arts teacher." He said as everybody started applauding while Harry's eyes were directed at the man standing in front of them and noticed that where his right eye should be, he had an artificial glass eye strapped over it and was drinking something out of a tiny golden flask.
"What is that do you suppose?" Ron wondered.
"I dunno, but I don't think that it's pumpkin juice." Harry told him before Dumbledore continued on with his speech and started talking about how this year there was going to be two visiting schools. One from Beauxbatons and one from Durmstrang. They would be having a competition called the Triwizard Tournament that involved three dangerous tasks and that you had to be seventeen or older to put your name into the goblet of fire to be chosen and if you were chosen there was no going back.
Harry wasn't concerned about that at all though because there was no way in the whole entire wizarding world that he wanted to enter such a competition anyways. After the feast was over, they all headed back towards their dormitories. That is everyone except for Brianna Malfoy that both Ginny and Sarah noticed took off towards the girl's lavatory instead with silent tears rolling down her cheeks.
That's when Ginny turned her head to look over at Sarah. "Should we go talk to her?" She wondered.
"I'll do it." Sarah began. "She's closer to my age anyways." She finished before she set off down the hall after her.
