Chapter Eighty-One: Miracles Happen
Draco turned to Hermione and smiled before kissing her on the cheek. "Here's your Bible back." Harry told him before handing it back over to him.
"Thanks." Draco told him with a grin while taking it back from him when suddenly his mother Narcissa Malfoy stormed towards him.
"I can't believe it you're with them again!" She snapped as she grabbed ahold of his arm. "Come Draco! I want you staying away from them from now on." She told him while she started dragging him away, but he quickly pulled back away from her.
"No I won't! I love them and they're more of a family for me than you've ever been." He growled before she caught sight of his Bible and snatched it away from him.
"Look at the trash they've filled your mind with." She growled back at him.
"It isn't trash. You're trash!" He hollered back at her. "I have more faith in God than I do of you and Father!" He snapped and grabbed his Bible back before he started running towards the train.
"Draco come back!" Hermione cried as she ran after him while meanwhile Severus turned to Narcissa.
"Now you listen to me Mrs. Malfoy, that girl that just ran by is like my own flesh and blood and she might be in puppy love with your son, but she loves him just the same and the feeling is mutual between them. Neither one of these kids might be able to legally perform magic outside of school, but if you do anything to keep these children apart nothing will stop me from turning you into the warty old toad that you actually are. Have I made myself clear?" He questioned her while pointing his wand at her and her eyes suddenly grew rather large and wide with fright and her bottom lip began to quiver as she slowly backed away from him.
Eventually Hermione caught up with Draco by a bench where he was sobbing hysterically, and she sat down next to him. "It's not fair. If God's real and He actually loves me then why does He put me through this?" He questioned her while he turned to look at her with his eyes full of tears.
"Maybe it's because He wants to make you a stronger person in the end because of it." She told him.
"I wish I was seventeen." He began while blinking away his tears. "That way I could choose to live with Harry's family, and I wouldn't have to put up with this shit anymore." He told her with a sniff. "I want to be good. I don't want to be a death eater like my father. I just want to have friends, real friends,.. and to be with you." He told her with another sniff before she tightly embraced him.
"I know. You have and you will." She whispered softly before he continued to sob and she hushed him and kissed him on the cheek and Harry started walking over to them and sat down beside them.
"I'm sorry." He began.
"It's alright, it's not your fault." Draco told him while looking back at him with his eyes still full of tears. "You can't control the fact that I have such rotten parents."
"No,.. but my father can." Harry told him with a rather sly grin.
"What are you talking about?" Draco wondered while slowly lifting his head.
"He's currently trying to persuade your mother in letting you come and live with us, and I've known him to be pretty damn persuasive in the past." He told him with a wink.
"That would be wonderful, but there's no way that she would ever agree to it." Draco told him.
"Yeah, and I used to think that there would be no way you would ever decide to turn to Christianity, but you proved me wrong. You see magic and miracles are two entirely different things. Magic is something that we can control since we were born with having magical abilities, miracles is something that we have absolutely no control over because it's completely in God's hands. Like you and me and you and Hermione. Those are miracles. And in order for miracles to happen we just have to have faith." He explained as Draco stifled a laugh.
"You would make a really good priest." He told him as Harry stifled a laugh in return.
"Thanks, but what I really want to do is work with dragons and have my own dragon business. I've wanted my own business ever since I was a little kid since they've always been my favorite animals. First on the list though is to work on my temporary license next year. My father's going to teach me how to drive since Stevie taught him." He explained before Severus started walking over to them.
"Well, we better get you three onto the train before you're late." He began before turning to look over at Draco and grinning slyly at him. "As for you Mr. Malfoy, the custody hearing will be taking place in a few weeks so you're going to be having a substitute in potions class for a while." He explained as Draco nodded and slowly got to his feet.
"I guess all we can do now is pray,.. I don't have the slightest idea of how to do that though." He said as Harry walked over to him.
"Don't worry, I'll show you how to later but it's basically speaking from your heart, and you've pretty much got that down pat now." He told him. "You guys go ahead and get on the train with Ron, Sarah, and Ginny. I have a much better way to travel." He added with a sly grin as he turned around and looked up at the sky and placed two of his fingers in-between his teeth and whistled loudly.
A few seconds later Spike came flapping down out of the sky with his two gigantic leathery wings and landed on the ground in front of him with a pleased look on his face as his new license that was attached to his collar began to jingle a bit. Harry put on his helmet and saddled him up.
"After all, he's not exactly going to fit on the train." He pointed out.
"Damn I really wish that I could go with you." Draco began. "But I would rather stay with Hermione if it's all the same." He told him while wrapping an arm around her just as a furry black dog was trotting over to them.
"Sure, no problem." He told them as Hermione looked down at the dog and her eyes widened.
"Umm,.. Harry, I think you have a visitor." She whispered while pointing down at him just as he had been leaping onto Spike's back and putting his feet into the stirrups.
"Padfoot." He said before hopping off of the dragon's back again and following him around the corner.
