Hey everyone! I had planned on having this out a several weeks ago, but we had a covid scare in my family with my sister. Thankfully she didnt have it, but she had an illness from a tick bite that showed similar symptoms. She was in the hospital for nearly a week. Then the following week, I was rushed to the hospital myself when I nearly passed out at work. Ended up having Anemia, took me a few days to get over it. We're better now, so I can get back to writing for all you lovely people!
Chapter 5:
He thought her choice in clothing was weird before, he stood corrected.
He was trying his best not to glare at her as they were waiting to eat the fish and tea she prepared. Her clothes were skin tight, the...pants she wore were a vibrant mix of green and blue, there were floral patterns all around them. Her top had no sleeves and was cut low, so there was plenty of cleavage on display. He could make out she had some type of undergarment on under her top, her breasts weren't wrapped.
When she took a bite out of her fish, he followed suite, pausing to look back down at it.
"This is actually really good." He complimented before he could stop himself.
Her blue eyes instantly flew to him, a bite of her own fish was halfway to her mouth.
"You think so?" She asked curiously. Kirara was eating a fish beside her without a care in the world.
He nodded and took another small bite. Once he swallowed it, he looked back at her. "Yes, for my first time eating it, I can not complain." He immediately took another bite.
Mike grunted his approval, devouring his fish.
He missed her smile.
Erwin saw it though.
"To be fair, Fish is a bit of a delicacy inside the walls." He explained, taking a bite of his own fish. Levi was right, it was delicious. "I have to admit, this is the first time I've had it myself. What did you season it with?" He inquired.
Flushing, she looked down to her partially eaten fish. "Well, I found some some wild grown Parsley and Garlic, as well as a few Lemon trees. So I used them to season the fish." She was so glad she learned about herbs and plants while she was still traveling in Feudal Japan and even after she got sent home.
Humming in thought, Erwin looked down at his fish. "What is a Lemon?" He asked.
Levi was wondering the same thing.
Sitting up straight, Kagome placed her fish on a makeshift plate. "A Lemon is a fruit that grows on trees, if I remember correctly its a species of Evergreen tree." She placed a finger on her chin in thought. "Though honestly, I wasn't expecting to find any. I didn't think the climate was suitable to grow them."
"And what does a Lemon look like?" Levi asked before he could stop himself. He didn't know why he was so curious, he really wasn't sure why he even asked.
He refused to admit that he wanted her attention.
She threw him another dazzling smile that caused him to look away for a moment so he could get his bearings.
Placing her food down, Kagome got up and bounded over to her huge backpack. Three sets of eyes watched her curiously. They all raised an eyebrow when she started mumbling to herself in a different language. Dirty clothes and other random items were flowing out of the it.
They all blinked when she let out a triumphant yell.
"Ah! Found it."
She bounded back over to Levi, a jar in her hands with something yellow in it. She squatted in front of him and presented the jar to him. "This is a Lemon." She handed the jar to him.
Taking the jar, Levi looked at the yellow fruit with a blank look on his face. It didn't look special other than its yellow coloring. He handed the jar to Erwin so the other male could inspect the fruit.
He noticed the grin on Kagome's face and immediately tensed. When she noticed his look, she quickly glanced at Erwin and Mike, before bringing her gaze back to his darker blues. She smirked and placed a finger on her lips.
She then turned her attention back to Erwin. "Excuse me, Erwin?" She asked too innocently for Levi's liking, but he stayed quite. He was curious to what she had planned.
If she was a danger, he'd just kill her.
Erwin and Mike both turned their attention to her. "Yes, Kagome?" He asked.
"Would you like to try it?"
Blinking, Erwin looked back down at the jar he was holding with the yellow fruit in it. Becoming suspicious, he narrowed his eyes at the Asian woman.
Lifting her arms up in surrender, she shook her head."I'm not trying to poison you, I promise. I'll even eat a slice with you. I have no reason to be hostile to any of you." She explained quickly.
Sighing softly, Erwin opened the small jar, removing the Lemon, and then pulled a small knife out of his boot. "Very well, but only if you take the first bite." He said, though she knew it was more of a demand.
She smiled softly at him and nodded. "That is perfectly fine." She watched as he cut off a small slice and offered it to her. She took it, then took a bite out of the flesh of the fruit. Long ago having a tolerance for the sourness of it.
All three of the men watched her eat it before Erwin cut a slice for himself and took a bite the same way he watched her. His face immediately scrunched up, not expecting the sour taste of it. Levi and Mike both looked at Kagome suspiciously. Both men had their hands on their swords, ready to attack Kagome at a moments notice.
Levi vaguely noticed Kirara standing in front of Kagome protectively, interesting.
"A little warning that it is sour would have been nice Kagome."
Looking back at Erwin, Levi watched as the thick browed man was taking a drink from his canteen. A giggle brought his attention back to Kagome.
He was going to get fucking whiplash from this shit.
"I'm sorry Erwin." She had a hand in front of her mouth to try to cover her laughter, she failed miserably.
Mike took the fruit from Erwin and ate a small piece himself after smelling it, his face scrunching up in a similar manor Erwin's did.
Levi just rested the urge to roll his eyes.
"Its also..." She started, taking the metal pot off the hot coals. "Good in tea's, like the rose hips tea in this pot." She explained as she poured herself a cup of the liquid in her thermos lid. She held her hand out towards Mike, who took the hint and handed her what was left of the lemon. They all watched as she cut off another slice and squeezed the juice into the cup.
Levi could smell the slightly floral aroma of the tea, there was just a small tang undertone from the lemon she squeezed in it.
None of the men were surprsed when she offered the cup to them.
"You're welcome to try it also, its a good tea. I will also answer some questions I know you must have."
Mike gently took the cup from her hands, he lifted it to his nose and took a sniff, when he deemed it safe, he took a small sip. His eye's widened slightly and he took another small sip. He then handed it Erwin. "It's delicious."
Taking the cup from the other mans hands, Erwin rested the cup on his lap between his hands. When his eyes met Kagome's expectant one's again he asked the question he had been wondering about ever since Levi confirmed it was her that had been saving his troops.
"How have you been saving my men? Many have informed me that they were sure they would have died from their injuries."
"I healed them."
Three sets of eyes narrowed at her.
Levi scoffed."How? Most of them weren't gone for more than a day or two. Its impossible." He looked at her in disbelief, his midnight blues scrutinizing her.
When she pulled her knife back out, all three out their guard up.
When she sliced her hand open, Levi was the only one to rush to her.
"What the fuck are you doing?" He hissed and pulled a handkerchief out to cover the sluggishly bleeding wound. When he went to grab her hand, she gently pulled it out of his reach.
She gave him another one of those damning smiles. "Its ok Levi, go sit back down." She wanted to laugh at the glare he sent her and the confused looks the other two males were giving him.
She guessed his outburst was out of character to the short male.
When she placed her uninjured hand over the wound, she gave one last look at the males sitting in front of her. Scanning their aura's.
She was confident she could trust them.
Closing her eyes, she knew when her bleeding palm started healing when she heard the quiet gasps from them. Erwin's whisper of "Amazing" was heard too.
What she didn't know was that where Erwin just saw her palm magically closing before his eyes, Levi and Mike could see the soft blue glow emitting from her other hand and lazily stitch the wound close. The hair's on their arms raised from what little power they could feel from her.
When the wound was fully closed and she opened her eyes, Levi swore they were closer to silver than their normal cerulean blue. He gulped, not sure what to think about the feeling he felt from the way she looked.
The feeling of attachent he felt the first time he saw her resurfaced and he didn't know how to take it.
He was jolted out his musing by Erwin's quietly asked question.
"How?"
Her simple response didn't sound so simple.
"I'm a preistess."
