Chapter Eighty-Seven: Having A Good Reason
Before Hermione opened the door to the girl's dormitory DJ reappeared in front of her and she let out another startled shriek and instinctively drew her wand and pointed it at him. "Is this going to become a thing with you!?" She snapped inside a whisper while DJ simply just chuckled and using his pointer finger, he slowly pushed the wand tip away from him.
"Hey, I'm just here answering a prayer alright? Besides, I'm immortal and I can't die. Not in this body anyways. And actually, I'm here answering two prayers. You and Draco asked for my help so here I am." He told her.
"Well what's the point if I'm the only one who can see you?" She asked him but he simply just wiggled his finger at her.
"Uh, uh, uh,.. you weren't paying attention. I told you that right now you're the only one who could see me. Starting tomorrow though that's all going to change." He told her with a rather sly grin before instantly transforming into Gryffindor robes. "Say hello to your new temporary care of magical creatures teacher. Professor David G. James." He told her. "Cool right?" He questioned her with a wink.
"Wait, isn't Hagrid the care of magical creatures teacher?" Hermione wondered.
"Again you weren't listening." He began. "I said temporary as old Rubeus has some errands that he has to get done so I'm filling in for him and that way I can keep an eye on you bunch as well. However, like I said before,.. you can't tell anybody who I really am. I don't want or need that kind of attention. It'll just be our secret." He told her while placing a finger to his lips. "Catch ya later baby doll!" He exclaimed before disappearing.
"Okay, so our potions teacher is dating Harry's aunt and now we're going to be taught care of magical creatures by God. What a strange day this has turned out to be." Hermione said to herself before giving a slight shake of her head and going to bed.
The next morning down at the breakfast table Hermione noticed that Harry was acting like he hadn't gotten much sleep. "You alright?" She questioned him anxiously with a rather worried expression on her face.
"Yeah,.. nightmare." He replied while Ron looked up at the teacher table.
"First Snape disappears and now Hagrid. Something really strange is going on around here." He said while glancing over at DJ.
"Tell me about it." Hermione replied before all three of them started to eat with the rest of the Gryffindors. After breakfast they went to go to potions class with the Slytherins and started learning about the draught of peace.
"Somehow I don't think that even a potion could calm my anxiety at the moment." Draco said to Harry and Hermione after class while glancing down at the ground and heaving a sigh, but Harry just grinned at him.
"How about this? I just received an owl from my mum and no matter what the condition of custody over you is, you'll be invited to spend the Christmas holidays with us, and The Dragons are going to be putting on a Christmas show at our church." He told him with a grin as Draco smiled back at him.
"Really? Sounds exciting even though The Dragons are pretty much for girls." He told him before they went to charms class and learned about the silencing charm and then went to transfiguration class and learned how to do the vanishing spell. By the time they went to defense against the dark arts class, the amount of homework that they had would last them through the weekend.
"Oh great, now we have Umbitch's class." Ron said as Draco laughed and Hermione came to a stop.
"You know what? Why don't you guys just go? I'm not feeling too well, I think I'll just go to the hospital wing instead." She began before she faked a cough into her fist and all three boys looked extremely worried. "See, I bet I'm coming down with something." She told them while touching her hand to her forehead. "Just as I thought. Hot as a potato. Must be feverish. Well, see you guys later." She told them as she turned around and started walking down the hallway.
"Wow, Umbridge has her freaked." Ron began.
"I know. I've never seen Hermione act like this before." Harry said while they both continued watching her go before Draco turned to them.
"Let me go talk to her. I'll be right back." He told them.
"Okay, but if you're late Umbridge will have a fit." Ron said as he and Harry both entered the classroom and Draco went after Hermione and found her on a bench further along the hallway and sat down next to her.
"I didn't think that you were really sick." He told her.
"No. I mean,.. I do feel sick to my stomach right now though." She told him.
"Hey, just remember what I told you last night about the kid and the slingshot. Picture yourself as the kid and Umbridge as the giant." He told her with a grin.
"If I tell her off I'll get in trouble though." She told him.
"So? Some things are worth getting in trouble for. Like when I got into the fight on the train. Yeah, I admit now that maybe I overreacted, but I only did it because I love Harry like a brother. Sometimes it's good to do the wrong things for the right reason. And you really shouldn't let anybody push you around like that and scare you so much that you have knots in your stomach." He told her with a shake of his head before getting to his feet and offering her his hand.
"Come on, we better go or we'll be late." He told her before she slowly got to her feet as well and took his hand and they walked back to class together.
