So, I meant to post this chapter closer to Mother's Day, but I've been lazy when it came to writing it. Anyways, enjoy the chapter!

Melendez quietly led Mei-Li and Carlos down the stairs, doing his best to not wake Lim. When they reached the living room, Melendez turned to his children and asked, "Alright guys, do you both remember the plan for today?"

"Yes, we're eating dim sum today," said four year old Carlos.

"And then we're surprising her with tickets to the Giants game," said nine year old Mei-Li happily.

"That's right guys," Melendez kissed them both, "Now go get your cards and we'll start with Mommy's special day."

The kids pulled their hand made cards out of their special hiding place and followed their father up the stairs. Melendez gathered his gifts and opened the door. The kids ran into the room and crawled into bed with Lim, "Mommy!" Carlos and Mei-Li kissed her.

Lim startled awake, but smiled when she saw her kids, "Hi guys," she said.

Melendez kissed Lim and said, "Happy Mother's Day, Audrey."

"Thank you," Lim smiled.

"We made you cards," said Carlos. Both of the kids handed their cards to her.

Lim looked at the creations, Mei-Li's having a drawing of Lim on her Ducati and Carlos's having Lim with a superhero cape. She wrapped her arms around them, "Thank you both so much," she kissed their cheeks.

Melendez sat down on the bed with his family and handed Lim an envelope, "Happy Mother's Day, Audrey."

"Neil, you know how much I hate it when you get me elaborate gifts," Lim teased.

"I know, but I'm pretty sure you'll like this one," said Melendez.

Lim opened the envelope and found four tickets to the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants game. She kissed Melendez and said, "Thank you."

"Told you you'd like it," Melendez said against her lips.

"Mei-Li, Mommy and Daddy are kissing again," said Carlos.

"Daddy and Mommy kiss each other a lot," Mei-Li scrunched her nose in disgust.

"Just for that, I'm going to kiss Mommy again," said Melendez and kissed Lim again, Lim chuckling in amusement.

"Now, go get ready. I'm sure Daddy has more planned than just the game," Lim looked at her husband knowingly. Melendez shrugged innocently.

"I'm going to wear my pink Giants shirt and pink Giants hat," Mei-Li said happily.

Mei-Li and Carlos ran out of the room and Lim looked over at Melendez, "How is it that you manage to shower me with gifts without resorting to the cliché flowers, chocolate, and jewelry?"

"The same reason I'm not stuck with a new tie every birthday or Father's Day," said Melendez, "We know each other too well."

"Okay, fair enough," said Lim.

The family arrived at the restaurant for dim sum around mid-morning and the place was already packed, "Dear Lord, I forgot how crowded every restaurant gets on Mother's Day," said Lim.

"That's why I made sure to make a reservation," said Melendez. He approached the hostess and said, "Table for four under Melendez. Two kids and two adults."

"Of course, right this way," she led them to their table.

"I hope they have the BBQ pork buns and egg tarts," said Mei-Li happily.

"The first time we brought you here, you hated the egg tarts," said Lim.

"But I like them now," said Mei-Li.

"I want the mango pudding," said Carlos.

"We'll make sure you both get everything," said Melendez.

They sat down to eat and Lim asked, "Okay, so how long have you three been planning this day?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Melendez stated innocently.

"Daddy asked what we wanted to do and I said do something tomboy since you're a tomboy," said Mei-Li.

"Well, I appreciate not being forced to do fancy brunches and teas, because I'd much rather watch the Giants play while I have a hot dog and beer," said Lim.

"And for the under 21 crowd, hot dogs, nachos, and sodas," said Melendez. Mei-Li and Carlos giggled excitedly.

After they finished their meals, they drove to San Francisco and spent the day at Fisherman's Wharf browsing the shops. When it came time for the game, they went through the gates of Oracle Park, the kids excitedly running towards the Lou Seal mascot. Melendez snapped a few pictures on his phone and said, "Alright guys, what kind of food do you want?"

"Cotton candy," said Carlos.

"Carlos, you need to eat real food before you eat cotton candy," said Lim.

"Alright, popcorn and cotton candy," Carlos said.

"How about a hot dog?" said Lim.

"I'd rather have chicken tenders," said Carlos.

"Fine, you eat the chicken tenders first, and then, you can have cotton candy," said Lim, "How about you Mei-Li?"

"I want a hot dog and popcorn," said Mei-Li.

The family ordered their food and found their seats along the first base side, the views of the Golden Gate Bridge looming in the distance, "I remember when I took both of you here for the first time. Mei-Li was only a few months old. I dressed you in a little Giants onesie and gave you a baseball cap," said Lim fondly.

"Did I like the game?" asked Mei-Li.

"Doubt it," said Melendez, "You slept through most of it."

"What about me?" asked Carlos.

"You were almost two when we took you to your first Giants game, but your favorite part was when you got to run the bases after the game," said Melendez.

Needless to say, Mei-Li and Carlos had learned to love baseball, so they were thoroughly enjoying cheering on the Giants, singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame, and snacking. It was an added bonus that the Giants won the game.

On the ride home, it was fairly quiet, so Melendez and Lim were surprised when Carlos asked, "Mommy?"

"Yes?" answered Lim.

"What was it like when you became a mommy?"

"Well," Lim thought about her answer, "Of course, I had Mei-Li first. I'll admit, you both were surprises, but you were the best surprises of my life. Well, Daddy wasn't actually the first person to know I was pregnant with Mei-Li."

"What does pregnant mean?" asked Carlos.

"It's what we call a mommy who has a baby growing in her tummy," explained Melendez.

"Oh," said Carlos.

"Well, Dr. Shaun, Dr. Claire, and Dr. Morgan actually knew first, only because they helped me figure out I was pregnant with Mei-Li. But when I told Daddy, he had the biggest smile on his face because he was so happy. Well, I would read to her and sing to her, just like I did when you were growing in me," Lim said reminiscently.

"I sang Let It Go and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to Mommy's tummy," chimed in Mei-Li.

"Well, the day Mei-Li was born, Daddy almost missed the birth," said Lim, chuckling at the memory.

"Why?" asked Mei-Li.

"Because I had to go to meetings, so Mommy had to take an Uber to the hospital," Melendez smiled, "And Dr. Shaun had to help Mommy until I could get there."

"Did you make it?" asked Carlos.

"I did with four hours to spare," said Melendez proudly.

"Did you have meetings when I was born?" asked Carlos.

"No, thank goodness," said Melendez.

"Mommy decided to have you in the middle of the night and woke me up in the middle of the night," said Mei-Li.

"Why?" Carlos asked his sister.

"So I could go to Abuelita and Abuelito's house while Mommy and Daddy went to the hospital to have you," said Mei-Li.

"I didn't decide to have your brother in the middle of the night; babies come when they come," said Lim. To this day, Mei-Li was still perturbed that Lim's labor had ramped up in the middle of the night, causing them to have to go to the hospital at one in the morning and disturb Mei-Li's sleep in the process, "Anyways, the moment Dr. Shaun put both of you in my arms are memories that Daddy and I will never forget."

"I gave you a stuffed tiger," said Mei-Li happily.

"That was from you?" asked Carlos.

"Yep," she nodded.

"Is that it?" asked Carlos.

"Pretty much, mijo. We brought you both home and are now making sure you'll be functioning adults in life."

"Mommy?" asked Mei-Li.

"Hmm?" muttered Lim.

"Do you think I'll be a mommy someday?" asked Mei-Li.

"I mean, if you decide you want to be a mommy, then yes," said Lim.

"Then I hope I'm as good of a mommy as you are."
