The oddest and most noticeable part of Rin's transformation was of course the tail. With his flames out, it was long with a large flame on the end. Without the flames though, it was a brand new appendage. The fur? On the tip was thicker than the stuff on the tail and it was the same color and texture of his hair. When he tried he even found out the fir could be cut and it would regrow with time.

Not long after he came to the dorms, he went to Mephisto to ask about the new appendage and got the bare basics on how to care for it. He could use the same shampoo and conditioner he used on his hair. He did have to brush it out several times a day when he let it free. All the whipping around it did made it ratted and dirty quickly.

It was difficult to hide and definitely took some trial and error. His friends joked about his bad moods when he first enrolled in cram school and had to keep it hidden. It would pinch and spasm under his clothes and distract him during lessons no matter what he did to it. It did not help with focusing on the lesson and he found himself shifting more often to try and accommodate it.

If he shifted wrong in the hard backed school chairs, his tail would bend and hurt like crazy. The few times he jumped from the pain, he could blame it on a sleeping in class. It was not exactly uncommon before he found out why he could not sleep in the dorms. If he tied his tail to his lower leg. It would bend unnaturally at the knee and kept trying to correct itself by pulling up. He was also more likely to sit on it.

Putting it in his belt loop stretched it way to much. It felt like someone was constantly pulling on it and made it cramp if he left it too long. It also looked funny with the furry tip like a frayed belt. He finally settled on wrapping it around his torso and chest. This method worked the best and he found out about it completely by accident. When he slept in his bed, his tail curled around the closet person. If he was alone, it would wrap itself around him.

This way kept him warmer but it felt almost natural. He figured because he was not really forcing it to curve downward and it gave it some more freedom to move. It was also easier to position so he could give it breaks between classes. All he had to do was find an empty classroom and unwrap it. It was easy to slip in and out of his shirt because he did not have to tie it down.

The sensation was its own problem completely. It was very sensitive to pain. More-so than any other part of his body. He slammed it in a door once and that one time was all he needed. He stayed in bed in tears until the bruise faded. The idea of breaking or cutting it was revolting and made him green to think about. It felt like another arm or leg but different. It was knew but it did not feel knew. Almost like it should have always been there.

It was not all painful though. More than once while reading or doing homework, Yukio caught Rin petting the tail from about halfway up towards the bottom. Rin had never been one to play with his hair but the gently strokes on his tail felt really good and relaxing. Not in a sexual way but hard to described. Overall it was pleasant and he would do it quit often.

He felt almost clumsy when it was put away in class. Almost like he would fall over if he leaned wrong. His other classmates often commented on how much he tripped when he was walking and his younger Twin, Yukio, thought his clumsiness was from his abnormal strength. Whats the point of being careful when running into things does not actually hurt.

When the others found out in his class. He was grateful for no longer having to hid the appendage. It cut out 30 minutes of his time getting ready for school in the morning time when he did not have to hide it. The students in the regular classes could not see his tail so as long as the cram students knew, he would no longer have to tie it down. After an unfortunate incident where a book fell of his neighbors chair and onto it, he was a little more careful in his regular classes.

Not being able to see the extra appendage meant not being able to avoid it. He had to relearn to walk with it up in the air or someone else may step on it by mistake. The others definitely noticed a change in the older twin when he no longer had to worry about it. Where he kept it wrapped around his desk most of the time, he no longer hesitated to let the black cord stretch when he did.

It took some pointed looks from Yukio for the others in the classroom to pay attention to class instead of looking at Rin's tail. Yukio could understand it to a point, the curiosity. It was a knew part where there was originally none, but without the distraction and with Rin sleeping right, he was actually able to pay attention in class. So overall, Yukio was happy for his older brother.

Rin was never as stupid as he played himself to be, he just refused to learn something he did not think was important. His grades went up in most of his classes when he started looking up more. He still did poorly in herbs and summoning because his instincts told him when to avoid certain things but besides that his incantation grade skyrocketed. He did after all live in a church before the dorms.

The first time he scored higher than Bon on an exam, the whole class had to have a break to calm down. A new problem arose though. While it became apparent that Rin was improving, it was also apparent that the others were more distracted in class. Some days no matter how much Yukio tried, he could not get anyone but his brother to look to the front of the class.

Exam days were the worst. With no way to distract the other students and with Rin looking down at his papers. Rin would focus and let his tail do whatever it was suppose to do. It would sway and move in the air while he balanced on the chair. When he began to drift into his own mind, it would droop toward the floor. After a time, the others got use to it but it took a whole lot longer than getting use to having the son of Satan in class.

Out of all the perks of having his tail in the open, the one he most enjoyed and was the most obvious was his balance improved. No longer was he considered clumsy in his normal classes or gym. Without him tripping over himself, he fast earned a spot in the top of the class physically. With his abnormal strength, that was always going to be the outcome. He still held back when he was in a group but during the independent activities, he would shoot above everyone.

A few times, Yukio had to talk to him about not hurting anyone, not that Rin would ever think about it. He moved almost gracefully across campus and when fighting. For some reason, only the kings of hell ever attempted to touch his tail, but Rin just figured it was a demon thing and moved on. Everyone else got to figure out why the hard way though.

It was a normal day of independent study and Yukio had stepped out to take a phone call from the Vatican. Rin was doodling away on his notebook with Bon and Shima, his friends, sitting behind him. The way his tail was swaying was hypnotizing and Shima finally decided he would touch it today. Bon tried to distract him but he would have none of it today.

It appeared luck was not on his side today though because every time he got close, it would move just out of reach. By that point, he had gotten the attention of everyone else in the class except, surprisingly, Rin. Some like Kamiki looked away in annoyance of such childish antics but others like Koneko looked on in wonder. Shima barely brushed the tip of the fur at the end of tail and it stood straight up and flung itself sideways. Rin turned around so quickly, Shiemi, who was sitting right next to him, began to worry about whiplash.

Shima had already moved like he was talking to Bon before Rin could see what he was doing. With a suspicious look at the pink haired boy, Rin turned back around and started chatting with Shiemi. Looking more determined, Shima waited a minute and began reaching for the tail again. Without Rin's mind on his doodling it became easier to get a hold of.

The sound the young half demon made was one no one would ever suspect from him when Shima's fingers gripped his tail. It was a mix between a growl and a hiss. He not only turned but stood up and was in a fighting stance. Shima, who did not have time to let go of his friends tail, tightened his grip and was jerked up and over his desk when it moved. The sight of the easygoing Rin in that moment left no doubt that he had demon blood running through his veins.

His eyes were slittedd focused on his attacker, Shima. All the hair on his tail was puffed up and even the hair on his head spiked in intimidation. The glare in his eyes matched the growl on his lips. They were pulled back still from where he made that sound. His ears, teeth, and nails had all elongated. Yukio walked back into the classroom just as Rin took a swipe at Shima with his claws. Shima yelped and jumped back as he grabbed on hand with the other.

Everyone froze as blood welled up between the young mans fingers. Looking at Rin, it was no wonder. The hand that he swiped at Shima also had blood on the nails. Before Yukio or anyone else could call out. Rin let out a threatening growl that cut off in the middle. Almost as if waking up from a nightmare, his eyes cleared up and turned horrified. He looked down at Shima's hands and then at his own. Realizing what he had done, Rin did the only thing he could think of at the time.

He turned his back on the others and jumped out of the classrooms open window. It was on the second floor but he landed on the ground gracefully and ran full speed back towards the dorm. After a moment of silence where everyone processed what just happened, synchronized glares were directed to the boy that started this whole mess.

Sighing and thanking a higher power that he was also a doctor, Yukio wrapped up Shima's arm and without another work took out his cell phone. Like he was telling a report, he told the person on the other side what had happened and listened a moment for a response. Seemingly satisfied with his answer, Yukio hung up and turned toward the still silent class. "Now class, I will be leaving for a little while. I am having someone come in my place to explain what just happened".

Mission complete, the younger brother walked calmly out the door and followed after his brother. Rin was terrified of what he had done when he got back to the dorms. Scrubbing Shima's blood off his hands, he explained to Kuro, his black cat familiar, what had happened at school. He honestly was not 100 percent what had happened himself.

One moment, he was talking the the cute Shiemi and the next he was standing over a cowering Shima, who had his tail in his hands. He could smell the blood before he could see it and was sick at the thought of hurting his friends. After working so hard to earn their trust again, he burned the bridge he built with one swipe of his claws. Relieved that his master was not hurt and understanding why he was frightened and confused helped Kuro know exactly what his beloved master needed.

Yukio was not expecting the sight before him when he walked in. He expected to find his brother hiding or upset, not sitting at the kitchen table with his familiar in front of him. They seemed to be having a conversation, though Yukio could only hear one side of it. From what he could understand, Kuro was telling Rin about the same thing Mephisto is telling his classmates about right now. In silent support, Yukio sat down next to his older brother and wished he thought to tell him sooner.

While the two boys and cat sat at the table. One learning and one in silent support. Mephisto eventually made his way to the school where the remaining shocked students were. He poofed to the front of the classroom in his extravagant manner and introduced himself as the principle. Anyone with eyes could see his demonic ears and eyes, though nobody could see his tail. Mephisto himself was not very excited to give this particular lecture to a group of students. It was more or less the equivalent of the talk for demons.

Biting the bullet and deciding to make it as quick as possible he began. "hello, students, you have the unfortunate pleasure of have me teach you about demon tails." He continued "Now I realize you have all heard the basics about how their tails are their weakness and cutting them off can kill lesser demons, so I'll skip over that part". He had everyone's attention now. Eh, guess they did not know that yet. What is this school coming through.

One student, a purple haired girl, raised her hand but he completely ignored it and even turned away. "No matter" he said "We are not going over the technical part but the emotional part of the tail. A demon's tail is quite sensitive and not many people can touch them. It is considered rude to even look at a demon tail of a high ranking demon. It's no wonder my younger brother saw fit to attack you, young man. You definitely deserved it".

The young woman's hand went down and they all looked at the demon with wide eyes. Mephisto needed to get this in order quickly after all. He could not have Rin kill someone by accident in school, that would ruin all his fun. "Frankly the fact he did not kill you outright is wonderfully restraint of him. If it were any other, boy, you would be dead. As a demon's weakness, most become very agitated and even aggressive of anyone touching it. It is only polite to touch it when it is offered and only when it's offered." Now that they all looked like they understood how dangerous the activity was. Mephisto considered his job over and poofed out of the room without taking any questions.

"Wait" Bon yelled at the empty desk "that jerk did not answer anything". "I think we have a chapter in our book on tails" Kamiki supplied already looking ahead "We can just look up what we don't understand" she said with a small sarcastic tone. Class was obviously over but the entire cram school stayed and looked up the demon's weakness. With how much pain a human can cause through the tail and even the fact they can become subjugated by them had everyone feeling a little ill.

It's no wonder Rin reacted that way. After a long discussion, it was decided Shima would go and apologize the demon and Bon would go to make sure it went well. While everyone else went home, the two made the silent walk to the brother's private dorm. It took a few minutes for anyone to hear them knocking but finally Yukio opened the door and looked at the two teens expectantly "what can I do for you" he asked. Shima answered before Bon could "I think I owe Rin an apology" he mumbled, looking away.

Deciding it could do no worse at this point, Yukio brought the boys towards the roof where Rin was moping. Obviously even if he understood why he acted that way, he was still upset. He perked up when he saw his friends but his ears drooped again when he realized they must be mad at him. Not one to run away, he approached them and met them in the middle. Both boys spoke at the same time "I'm sorry" they almost yelled at each other and then looked bewildered at the outcome. Bon almost laughed at the twin looks and Yukio just sighed and went back downstairs.

Shima cut Rin off "no, I'm sorry. I did not know it was such a big deal to touch it and I should have asked first." he looked at Rin as he spoke. Seeing the sincerity in his eyes, Rin replied "it's okay, man. I did not know either". Cue one awkward silence later Shima spoke unsure "Soooo... we cool now". Rin smiled for the first time since the incident "Yeah, we're cool". After that no one tried to touch Rin's tail, but that did not stop them from teasing him when they caught him petting it after class.
