Chapter 1
Big Time Prologue

"I have to do it. I have to go through with the trial, and then you present the evidence."

"But dude, we already know you're innocent…."

"It's the law I have too."

"Fine, but just know we aren't giving up on you."

3 Weeks Earlier

It was another typical day in Los Angeles, California. Four boys, known as Kendall Knight, Carlos Garcia, Logan Mitchell, and James Dimond, made up Big Time Rush's upcoming boyband. They weren't huge, but people were starting to recognize them, which meant they were making their way up the pop music charts. Just like any other day of work, the four boys had finished at Roque Records and were heading back to their apartment in the Palmwoods for some well-deserved rest for the weekend. All four of them are ready to kick back and relax.

"I say we hit the pool tonight, and it's hot out. After all the dancing Gustavo made us do, I could use the cool off." Carlos states with a yawn as they drag their tired feet across the L.A roads.

Kendall shakes his head, "Nah, and you can go. I'm just going to get some food and go to sleep, I think. It's been a long week." Kendall finishes as he sighs and rubs slumps on his way home.

"All right, can we stop at the store first?" Carlos questions making everyone stop walking and eye him. It had been an odd request, he shrugs. "What? I want to get some snacks, besides Mama Knight asked us to pick up a few things on the way home, if you remember." Carlos points out as he eyes Kendall but smiles at his friend.

"He's not wrong; I have the list here on what Mama Knight wanted us to get," Logan states as he holds his phone up.

James nods, "Sounds good to me; I need more facial cream; I ran out last night." James finishes as he smiles at the three guys before him.

Being outnumbered, Kendall sighs, "Fine, let's go and get this done. Thanks for remembering, though, Carlos, my mom would've killed me!"

With that, the four boys made their way to the nearest grocery store. It was a known fact that the four bandmates lived with Kendall's mother and his younger sister. When they first came out to California, Kendall's mother had agreed to be the stage mom for the group, so all the other parents didn't have to uproot and leave Minnesota. So really, it was a win, win for everyone. Now, the four boys looked up to Mama Knight to take charge and help them when they needed, so in return, they ran errands for her sometimes, like going to the store on the way home from work. Entering the small grocery store, the four boys began looking around, grabbing items they saw they wanted or needed. Finally, after about twenty minutes, they paid and left.

"See, was that so bad, Kendall?" James questions with playful mock as they start their walk home again.

"I guess not," Kendall states with a slight eye roll. "Let's just get home, and I'm tired," Kendall replies as he starts to try and fast walk, they were only ten minutes away.

But a lot can happen within ten minutes, and unfortunately for the boys of Big Time Rush, luck was not on their side today. As they get towards the end of the sidewalk, the four boys stop in their tracks and jump when a window from the building on their left shattered to the group, two-man with masks over their faces come out holding large sacks. A loud alarm starts ringing through the air, and the four boys look to see it say "Manders Bank" on the door. The two masked robbers get up from where they landed; seeing the four boys, they fake a move as if they will attack. Logan, James, and Carlos scream and rush off to the nearest hiding place. Kendall jumps back in his spots, goes to join his friends when he trips.

As he trips, sirens start appearing out of thin air, indicating that the police are near. Seeing the boy trip and the police cars come around the corner, the two figures smirk. They rush forward, and just as Kendall was trying to stand up, the two throw the sack of money into his arms and run off. Kendall, not knowing what was happening since his fall, felt the weight in his arms and the wind knocked out of him from it. Gasping, he fell back to the group with the large sack in his arms, the two robbers laughing as they runoff.

Before he could even get up, Kendall heard lots of yelling. The next thing he knew, he was being grabbed and shoved up against the bank wall. Wanting to protest, Kendall couldn't find the words since he was too in shock and confused; the next thing he felt was his arms held against his back and handcuffs on his wrist. Between all the commotion and slight fright he was feeling, Kendall knew better than the fight the police off. Kendall let them drag him to the cop car and shove him into the back. Looking around, he saw people pointing and whispering. The other thing the blonde-haired boy saw was his friends coming out of the shadows with concerned and confused faces. He didn't want to know what they thought as the police drove off with him; he also worried about what his mother and sister would think as well. Kendall's only hope now; was that somehow that his innocence could be proven before he ended up in jail...
