Chapter 2 -
BPOV:
"Alice, why are you and Rose giving me a makeover? We're only handing them a pan of brownies, for god's sake!" I was literally trapped in a chair in Rose's bathroom, because she had the biggest mirror. Every time I tried to get up or even looked at the door, hands were on my pushing me back down.
They were giving me a 'cuteover', as Alice called it, for the brownie handoff. I mean really. We were ONLY handing them brownies, and going home, so why did I need an official makeover?
"Because, silly! First impressions last the longest. Plus one day when you marry one-" she spoke dreamily, as if this was a one-two step… hand them brownies, immediately receive engagement ring. We hadn't even met them yet.
"Whoa, hold on there little pixie. What's all this talk about marriage?" I was so confused.
"WellonedaywhenyoumarryoneofthemRoseandIwillmarrytheothertwosothenwewouldbebestfriendsANDsisters-in-law. DUH."
"Oh, sorry, Alice. I was stupidly expecting you to tell me IN ENGLISH." She knew I hated when she spoke to me like that. If you can call it speaking, that is.
"I said, well, one day when you marry one of them, Rose and I will marry the other two so then we would be best friends AND sisters-in-law. And then I said DUH." She enunciated every syllable perfectly, as if she was talking to a five year old.
"Oh totally, Alice. If I marry one of our new roommates, I guess I'll eat my words. And until that day, I'm right and you're wrong," I smirked. "I think you're forgetting that we've seen one brother out of a hypothetical three. You might be jumping the gun, here. Now you might want to concern yourself with little Rosie-pooh over there…"
Up until that point Rose had been standing there, doing my make-up, watching us with an amused expression, eyes darting out the bathroom window almost constantly. Her smirk turned into a glare, headed towards me.
"Oh no, Bella. Don't even try that. So, Alice, umm, well, we, uh, we could…" Rose looked like she was desperately trying to change the subject. I could relate, Alice grilling you on a romantic relationship was equivalent to your fingernails being slowly pulled off.
"Are we going for the natural look on Bella?" Rose blurted out, quickly, before sighing in relief.
"Oh. Well yeah. That would be best. We don't want to give away all the good on our first meet-cute." I sighed deeply at them, resigning myself to the makeover. Through the years, I've found the beautification process only gets harder when you resist.
Once Alice and Rosalie were 'finished with me', they each got ready on their own… in fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes, next to my hour. And yet, they still called me naturally beautiful.
"Alright, guys, are you ready yet? This will only be a couple of minutes. We are just going, giving them the brownies, and leaving. Just a taste of us. Well, we still hope they will invite us in, but we will enter prepared for a quick exit. Are we understood?" Meeting "potential lovers" was one of very few things in life that Alice took seriously, so I gave her a mock salute at her tone. The particular withering stare she threw my way only meant that I would suffer a lot more than I had originally planned on.
"Bella, have you even freaking looked at yourself since we worked our magic on you? You cannot walk into this conversation looking like that but acting sheepish. Confidence sells everything." I looked at her sheepishly. "Exactly. I didn't think so. Go to Rose's room this instant and look at yourself in the mirror. Then try to complain about how annoying we are."
Alice and Rose glared back at my scowl, and, together, pointed down the hall to Rose's bedroom. I sighed, and clomped down the hall. When I walked in, I was actually stunned by the beautiful woman staring back at me.
My hair actually looked luscious - draped beautifully around my round face. I knew I was a little thick - most of the roundness wasn't due to my natural bone structure. My face was glimmering in the dim light in the bathroom, casting a warm glow about me. My eyes looked absolutely amazing - huge with a subtle highlight. They were done very simply, but they fit my face well. I couldn't help it, I teared up. It had been a long, long time since I felt this pretty.
After a good five minutes of staring at myself, I walked slowly back down the hall to two proud smiles.
"So, the verdict is..." Rose hedged, tapping her foot.
I wrung my hands back and forth, not really sure what to say. And honestly, still a little choked up.
Both of them visibly softened, before enveloping me in their arms. "We love you so much. I know it's been a tough year. We just want you to see yourself the way we do - a person that's authentically gorgeous inside and out." I sniffled for a minute, clinging to them.
I nodded, before taking a deep breath to recenter myself.
"Now," Rosalie started, "Let's go meet our future husbands!" before laughing.
I laughed once. "Not you too, Rose," as Alice ran into the kitchen, grabbing the plate of brownies, and rushing down the front hall to the door.
"C'mon, guys! They live SO far away, we better hurry!" She sarcastically exclaimed while slow-mo-ing over to the door and reaching for the handle.
Opening it, she continued. "Before I forget, I'd like to lodge a formal complaint that no one complimented my dancing earlier. Unacceptable," she sniffed.
Rose and I rolled our eyes, almost in sync. "You're so right, Alice. I guess I didn't compliment you because I'm just so much better than you are," Rose snickered, before shaking her ass, just a little.
My eyebrows shot up, before I burst into laughter. By the time I looked back, Alice had thrown the brownies on our entry table, and she and Rose were shaking their asses, just on the verge of twerking, in an actual dance-off. I jumped in of course, and faked throwing money on them.
During the process, I must've completely blocked out the fact that our door was wide open. The second I turned around to grab the brownies again, applause came booming at us from behind, where all of us had just pointed our shimmying-butts.
We spun around to face…
A/N See ya real soon!
