Chapter Thirteen Part One- Into The Fray

Charlie Redbone stood on the roof of Zootropolis Botanical Hospital, a building of forward operations due to it being in the center of the city. "Ready sir" the wolf said putting his rifle behind his back as his captain walked into view, the grizzled grizzly bear was wearing a fully camouflaged uniform and his classic Boonie hat, only uttering a word when he stopped in front of the wolf "good. Stay here and wait for the others" Redbone nodded, but said something at the top of his mind "how many do you think there'll be sir?" This made his superior silent then look away for a moment "I don't know . . . But you know the priority here Redbone" the wolf nodded again.

He knew the priority very well, at the moment it was to get to the source and see if any clues to how these terrorists did this was there at the water plant, as well as to ensure safe passage of evacuee's, meaning to injure or kill any savage on sight and to engage any insurgent forces they encountered, which he knew the number of wouldn't be zero.

"Grab another weapon, you'll need it" the captain said, picking up an Mp5 submachine gun and handing it to the sniper, who holstered it with his rifle "just in case, sir?" The captain shook his head "you're with us, on the ground" Charlie didn't question or object to that, only nodding.

Soon the sniper's two partners arrived through the hospital doors, both equipped with the same gear as himself, Nick with a hardened look on his face, "a helicopter?" The doe bunny asked as the two stopped in front of him "it's the only way to get to the quarantine zone fast enough" the wolf said, walking over to the helicopter.

The two other officers followed the sniper, getting on as well, the rotors of the helicopter beginning to move as Redbone switched seats and grabbed the handle on the outside of the aircraft, standing on the bars on the helicopter's sides. As the task force flew towards the quarantine zone, Redbone was more than ready to find clues on whoever did this, looking behind them as they flew over the city below.

He tightened his helmet as he looked back up, he glanced at his superior who was gripping a bar at the side of the helicopter, ready to unmount it as soon as they landed, he heard the co-pilot say something "you should take these, sir, that purple water will make any predator go savage" the captain grabbed the bundle of gas masks and Redbone leaned into the helicopter for a moment "purple water?" "Water mixed with Night Howlers, Charlie" Nick said, grabbing a gas mask and putting it on "so am I fine or . . . ?" Manson interrupted Judy "put it on just in case" and handed one to the doe.

The wolf put on his gas mask, the lenses were a bit foggy every time he would breath but it wasn't something that'd kill him . . . At least he hoped, they were tinted black as well, further impairing his vision. "How far is the QZ from here sir?" the pilot answered "'bout a few klicks to the north right now, we should be there within a half hour" the wolf nodded, then went back to where he was standing "roger" he gripped his SMG tightly.

He was never very good with them but he was still a decent shot, though he favored something more like the P90 rather than a standard Mp5, he considered it a little too light for him. His primary weapon was perfect for him though, considering it was his own, it was a Swiss K31 bolt action rifle, something that many would consider far from standard issue but Redbone was an expert sharpshooter with. Of course it was fairly ineffective compared to conventional rifles used by the SAS but was his ideal weapon of choice for the urban city of Zootropolis, equipped with a scope with the capability to have a 3x to 6x zoom and a silencer that slightly decreased it's range. This was because he knew he'd rely on shooting it at medium ranges rather than from afar, he was even considering using the old iron sights instead of his current choice of scope.

The Mp5 captain Manson gave him was also custom, the grizzly always preferred his own weapons rather than standard issue, unlike most of the people he worked with. It had a 55 round magazine loaded with 9mm rounds, an extended stock for better stability while aiming and an ACOG hollow sight, he was convinced that even if he wasn't the best with submachine guns, it would still do.

As they buzzed over the QZ, Charlie got ready to get off the slowly descending helicopter, ready for anything that was going to be thrown at him.
