Day one- Celebration

Was graduation even considered a celebration?

It was to the adults as Hugo rolled his eyes while Sofia smiled and made polite conversation.

Oh how he admired her ability to still be a proper princess in their current situation.

But one more enthusiastic father or a melodramatic mother in his presence and Hugo knew it would only provoke him to lose his temper as Sofia turned, squeezing his hand.

"I'm not enjoying this either," she whispered. "But I promised Mom and Dad I'd be on my best behavior tonight."

Hugo nodded sympathetically. He had made that same promise to his father that very morning while getting ready for what turned out to be a hot and sticky graduation ceremony.

While he had a laugh at Sofia's hair being a result of the humidity, he blushed hearing his name in her speech.

Royal Prep valedictorian was well deserved on her part even though she shared most of it with Desmond.

Oh well at least the cake being wheeled in was a distraction, allowing Hugo to take Sofia's hand in his.

He could see James glaring at him from a mile away, the look of an enraged older brother filling his eyes.

Sofia, amused, shook her head playfully at James' overprotectiveness, blushing at the touch of Hugo's hand.

She would have to explore why she felt hot under the collar later but for now she appreciated Hugo pulling her chair for her.

Was it the graduation making her former bully a gentleman? She couldn't tell.

But as she yawned, exhausted from the day's events, it became clear to her that the rest of the night was going to be interesting if not long and tiring with just a few more hours to spare.
