Chapter 2
In New York City, Behitha Blackwood started her new life.
During her first two years, her grandfather had sued her parents for guardianship. She went against them in the court hearing.
Judge Henry Malcolm sat at his high seat overlooking paperwork. The jury is listening to my parents pretending to be sobbing or pitiful people.
It took Behitha strength not to roll her eyes at her parents' attempts.
'It's always the same. They were pretending that they are innocent parents who have a troubled teenage daughter and always tried to nurture and love me. I do not doubt that they will believe them. They always did.' She felt bitter. No matter how many she tried to get people to believe and listen to her. They would always see her as the real problem.
Yet it is different when her attorney Rafael Barba made quite an accomplishment.
"Really? Enough to give not send her to hospitals as to say…" Barba read off medical statements. "Broken arms, sprained ankle, crack skull, and lack of proper asthma inhaler. Now for well-off people, why can't you afford better treatment for your daughter?"
That caused tension for everyone.
Behitha looked surprised.
'It couldn't be.'
She was surprised.
"I um... well. It is expenses.' Her mom attempt to act like she wasn't surprised.
"I thought you said that you are well off. Of the fact, you and your husband are known drug traffickers." The court set off and murmurs and Behitha looked surprised.
"Or the fact is that Behitha blackwood is not your daughter, but you're sister's daughter, Bethany Smith?!"
Bethitha gasped and everyone in court let out a shriek of surprise at what he had just said.
"Objection!" Her parents' attorney shouts it out.
"Order! Order in the court!"
"You bastard!" Her mother went and attack Barba.
Officers went to them and handcuffs the woman that she thought was her mother.
"Shut up!" Mrs. Blackwood shouted and struggled against the officers' arms. "I hated her! Naturally, Bethany was always everyone's favorite golden girl! She was a bitch! My husband loves her more than me. Especially, when she had slept with him behind my back. Of course, she had to die. I had to kill her…ugh…. sob, sobs…. I had to kill her." She cries so much and heavily.
Bethitha cries and her grandfather hugged his granddaughter.
Later it was discovered that her aunt was so high on drugs and snapped when her real mother was going to tell her grandfather of her drug problems.
Her false mother faked the pregnancy to trap her father into the marriage with her. Turns out she was pregnant as well but stillborn and switch the babies.
But that still did not excuse her father of what hell he had put her through.
Despite, what truth it does not erase her pain.
She sat at the table to meet her father at the prison.
Footsteps are heard and the gate is open and lets her father enter.
To her shocked, he didn't look handsome or arrogant like features like she grew up with.
He looked sick, pale, and skinny.
His eyes are buffing and red. 'Probably from crying too much.'
Finding out that she was the daughter of the sister that he cheated on with. Killing her and taking her away from her real mother.
Her lawyer Barba and her dad's lawyer.
"Okay, the deal is this, If Mr. Luke Blackwood testifies against Angelina Blackwood for charges of abuse and endangering Bethitha. It shall reduce you for 20 years with parole and he has to honor the restraining order that he is not to come near his daughter with 600 feet."
"Agree." Luke agrees and looks down. It is a pathetic sight for her.
"I hope that with your time here. You will reenter society with a clean start."
Bethitha had nothing to say. I mean how could she? All her life she was treated like she was unwanted, and no one would bother to help her.
Yet here she is. Getting her justice and strength that no one had given her chances to make something of herself.
She wanted him to suffer.
Knowing that she will never allow him to be in her life again.
Bethitha was surprised that her father decided to testify against her brother.
Turns out he had this intense hatred with people or better yet women because of how he treated her. But also, his victims were all girls under the ages of nine to twelve and he raped and murdered a college girl 21 years old, Jennifer Golden. They were raped by him, and her parents pay them with money to silences them.
It disgusted her.
How can they be so blind that they made him a monster?
He was tried as an adult and was charged with rape, child molestation, and first-degree murder. He will be on the rapist and pedophile list and was given 50 years in a state penalty prison.
He was diagnosed with Rape trauma syndrome (RTS).
He claims their mother did it to him and his reason why he hated women.
Many were disgust yet pity on him, but Bethitha felt only hatred. If he knew what he did was wrong, then why would he wanted to her.
Luckily not everyone sympathies with him the judge Henry and the jury ruled those sentences for him.
Her aunt as she will be called that, Angelina Blackwood was charged with neglect, abuse, endangering the welfare of a child, kidnapping, second-degree murder, and rape.
Given 80 years in women's stated penalty prison and no parole. However, after three months in prison, she hanged herself.
Bethitha looked relieved and felt her soul has been free for the first time in her life.
She stayed with her grandfather even in her college and universities days.
Bethitha wanted a career that involves social worker or writer.
She wanted to tell people everyone's stories and want others to hear about it, of everything, diaries, and letters that they had never told anyone.
That was her goal in life.
She wanted to be the one who had given people confidence in their own words, feelings, and lives.
'I can do it! And no one will stop me from reaching out to people.'
Bethitha did felt a tug in her heart.
She knows that being imprint meant something, but she refused. Jacob can't tell her what to do. She will live her life the way she wants.
Reviews are welcome.
Rafael Barba was a character from Law and Order: SVU. Sorry, I do like that character.
