Author's note: Hello, this is a new version of my rebel's dance, but I changed the title and have a whole new idea of where I'm going with this plot. The plot bunny wouldn't leave me alone and I needed to get this out. If you read my story rebels who dance, it's a bit similar to the first chapter, but then takes a quick turn. Don't worry if you want a bad boy Adrien and Chat Noir you have come to the right place!
Disclaimer: I don't own Miraculous Ladybug, but I do own my noodle song, it will make sense later lol.
Chapter one:
Marinette Dupain-Cheng sighed loudly as she frowned down at her phone. She just got a notification from her high school principal, informing her about how their little arts and music club might have to shut down due to budget cuts. Mr. Damocles, who is her quirky principal and is actually a pretty good guy. In fact, he's giving them a chance to raise money before the new year happens. It's still the beginning of the school year, late September really, but Marinette felt more pressure since she's the vice president of the club.
Everyone is looking up to her, even her president and long-term crush Luka Couffaine.
Marinette sighed dreamily this time, since she always became a bit lovestruck when she thought about her crush. What was it about Luka that made her heart melt like an easy bake oven? Was it his heavenly blue eyes? Was it his voice that belonged in an angel's choir? Was it his kindness that cheered her up when he found her crying in an abandoned classroom?
Poor freshman Marinette, finding herself so lost to navigate herself in the big high school on her first day. Being teased when a mean girl Lila tripped her in the cafeteria, spilling her mom's homemade soup all over her, and everyone laughed at Marinette cruelly. She ran to an unused classroom, not noticing the room being occupied by a sophomore Luka.
Marinette started to cry as she leaned against the door. She noticed her outfit; it smelled like noodles and chicken. Her hair had some dangling noodles in her hair, wrapped around her and twisted like one of her distorted ribbons. She let her hair loose, letting her black hair fall on her shoulders from her twin-tails. Marinette sniffed and huffed, trying to hold in more fat tears streaming down her cheeks. Luckily, she felt her tears start to clear up a bit when she heard a wistful tune playing on a guitar. Of course, Marinette felt so embarrassed for someone seeing her upset. However, Luka didn't mention her vulnerable appearance and played a song for her to cheer her up:
"You're a wonderful noodle, who doodles and likes poodles, so it's okay if your hair has a bunch of noodles.
It's okay to be a noodle, since you will never be a boring doodle. Your hair looks like a cute miniature poodle, so please don't cry any more since I'll get you a labradoodle.
You're a wonderful noodle, who doodles and likes poodles, and has a labradoodle who likes and woofs about noodles."
Of course, the song sounded so silly and made her choke out with surprised laughter. Although, she found herself not upset anymore of what transpired in the cafeteria.
She even felt her heart skip a beat, since he handed her his leather jacket to cover her soggy outfit. However, what made her heart feel dizzy and colorful like a carousel ride. Luka complimented her sunflower dress, which she meekly admitted by designing herself. He then offered her a place in a school club he's in since she's amazingly talented.
For the first time, Marinette felt like there might be a place for her to bloom like she always wanted.
Marinette shook her head from memory lane, feeling herself still smiling like a crush-struck moron. However, her smile turned into a frown when she found herself walking by the reform school for the rich and troubling youths. She still remembered the catcalls, the rude remarks, and how easily they could intimidate her behind the fence.
Speaking of fences, she's now heading towards the notorious fence, where the rich delinquents were kept like cattle. Marinette straightened her posture and kept her head high with fake confidence. The rich delinquents leered through the fence, trying to spook or intimidate her with their arrogance, but she paid them no mind. Well, until someone vigorously grabbed her strap making her go unbalanced.
Marinette glared at a cocky blonde girl who now held her satchel, with a look of disdain on her face.
"A commoner with an ugly, vintage satchel, how lovely," The blonde purred sarcastically.
"Hey, give that back!" Marinette yelled at the blonde, but the girl only cackled at this. It turned into a tug of war, Marinette tried to pull her satchel by the blonde's strong grip, though it seemed hopeless. Suddenly, her satchel started to open and all of her sketchbooks started to fall out.
"Ah how cute you draw, that's so adorable! However, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those ugly outfits!" Chloe mocked in a childish tone, which made Marinette really angry.
Marinette picked up her sketchbooks, letting go of her satchel for a moment. Chloe cackled like a hyena, still gripping onto the straps and loving the flushed expression on the ravenette's face.
"Please, when I one day become a famous fashion designer, you would be the one who would model my outfits ugly!" Marinette retorted back, which really struck a nerve at Chloe since she's really self-conscious of her appearance.
Chloe's face turned into an ugly sneer, but that didn't hinder Marinette at all.
"You think you're going to be a famous fashion designer, you must be a naïve and delusional commoner. It's cute you have these dreams, but it's not going to happen. Want to know why, since I see no talent and I live a life of luxury in the arts." Chloe stated with another hyena laugh, which made Marinette feel a lump in her throat.
Marinette could feel her knuckles tightened, even her teeth started to clench a bit. However, Marinette kept her anger and sadness in check, and said something brutal back.
"At least I have dreams and ambitions, I actually have the talent to become better with no help at all. I don't have to waste my daddy's money, since you seem to be doing nothing with your untalented self by being locked up in here."
None of the girls said anything, you could hear a penny drop with the tension. Marinette felt a bit bad by bringing up Chloe being in the reform school, since there might be plenty of reasons why the mayor's daughter is in the bad rep school.
"Chloe, let the twin tails girl satchel go," Someone ordered suddenly, which made this Chloe girl let go of Marinette's satchel. Marinette sighed in relief, then gaped at the boy for his attractiveness, and then sweat drops at some of the delinquent girls fawn over him like he's a movie star.
Marinette knew now is a good time to make her escape, but something stopped her from walking away. The boy's eyes; his green eyes captivated her to stay put, even though she could tell behind his eyes screamed danger. He gently dismissed the girls, they obliged his wishes surprisingly, but Chloe stayed put defiantly.
Chloe pointed at Marinette like a five-year-old, whining about the unfairness for ruining her fun, and the bad boy only lifted his eyebrows to indicate that he's mildly listening.
How could a single eyebrow hold so much expression, Marinette thought idly.
Then abruptly, Chloe stopped ranting when he's in her personal space, and then whispered something in her ear. As he pulled away, his face held a serious look, almost as if he's daring her to think he's kidding. But then, his face morphs into indifference once again, yet his eyes held hidden regret. Chloe huffed and glared at Marinette before she walked away into the column building.
Once Chloe disappeared from sight, Marinette bounced the balls of her feet nervously, taking an eager interest in the bad boy. He has a leather jacket on, with a toothpick against his smirk mouth, and his golden blonde hair is slightly spiky. He leaned his body against the fence, amusement in those pretty pools, and his smirk widened when she blushed.
"Thank you for that, for stepping in, I mean," Marinette whispered as she tried to avoid this feeling of running away.
"No problem. I take pride in saving a damsel in distress from a catty girl. Chloe's all claws, but she's no bite and quite harmless." He replied coolly, making her feel a bit irked at his smirk.
"I could have handled it on my own, but thanks for your assistance," Marinette commented, not wanting for him to perceive her as weak.
"Sure you would've, Princess, I'm sure you would have tango yourself out of that cat fight somehow." He laughed in mirth while she glared at him.
"I wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place, if Chloe had left me alone, you people always seem to want to pick a fight," Marinette murmured to herself in annoyance.
"Sorry, it's just so entertaining to tease the goody-two-shoes, it helps us loosen up," He puts his hand behind his neck, feeling like he's about to get scolded.
"By bullying them, you mean," Marinette interjected as the bad boy grimaced.
"Bullying is not something I do, I just tease and joke around with the free butterflies, but I will admit what Chloe did to you was way out of proportion. We may have bad reputations, but most of us are all claws and no bite, just the poor little rich kids who want their parents' attention." He confessed, which tugged at Marinette's heartstrings a bit.
"I'm sorry, that's gotta suck for you, but always remember that you matter and it's their loss if they don't see that." Marinette said sincerely, which made the bad boy widened his eyes at her and his intangible mask cracked slightly.
"It's cool, I'm used to it by now, but thank you…" He paused and then opened his mouth again.
"By the way, what's your name lovely?" He asked as his face is now a second skin to the fence.
"It's Marinette Dupain-Cheng," She answered while trying not to blush. He tilted his head, then purred her name at the tip of his tongue, which didn't help cool her blush at all.
"How about you?" Marinette asked eagerly, hating how her voice cracked a bit.
He beckoned her to come closer, she hesitantly did, and now both their faces touch the barbed fence. For some reason, she felt like a mouse and he's a cat toying with her reactions.
She noticed he no longer had the toothpick in his mouth, also his luscious lips were pressing against the corner of her mouth in a teasing manner, and all too quickly he pulled away with a devious grin.
"If you come to this location at night secretly, I will reward you with the privilege of my name and a kiss I'm sure you desire…" He all but purred out, which made her go weak in the knees, even though she sat indian style.
Marinette knew what she's about to agree to was dangerous. For goodness sake, under the bad boy exterior, she still didn't know what criminal charges he had done to be in a reform school.
"What makes you think I want to be kissed by you," Marinette quipped back, feeling herself mentally shake herself a bit.
What was she doing? The only guy she felt like kissing was Luka, so why did she imagine kissing this blonde guy who strangely reminded her of a cat? Of course, it's okay to imagine what it would be like kissing other guys, but that's all good with pretending to be in a fantasy land. However, something with the kiss he has pecked on her mouth, is making her feel feverishly awake with desires.
She doesn't know if it's because she has never really been kissed before? Although, maybe it's because he's the epitome of a bad boy exterior. The one where every girl has a dozen trashy novels with a shirtless bad boy cover. Girls moaning about wanting a bad boy in their life, feeling the thrill and experience of rebellion. Marinette wasn't sure if she was getting ahead of herself, but maybe that's why she lost herself for a moment by going gaga over him.
Marinette felt goosebumps appear on her skin, since just his eyes could make her shiver without physically touching her.
"You're biting your lip as we speak, may I say more, and I feel like you don't back away from a challenge." He said, liking the blush and seeing her curse at herself for biting her lip. Marinette Dupain-Cheng never backed away from a challenge and she hated how he seemed to know this.
"Alright, I'm in, so where to…?" Marinette lingered, feeling like she just made a life-altering decision.
His eyes brightened at this, making him grin playfully at her and she couldn't help but grin back.
Marinette frowned a bit when he pulled a piece of paper out. She furrowed her eyebrows, ignoring the electric shock between them, and telling herself to get a grip! Marinette started to read the colorful poster, which started to give her a bright idea.
Battle of the band!
The Akuma reform school for the rich and troubled youths are hosting another battle of the bands again! The famous Kitty Section needed new members and an outlook since there was a falling out. Will Kitty Section finally fall from its pedestal at the Akuma Club and a new band takes the crown? The prize for the winner will be 25,000 dollars and a spot for their gig at Akuma club. Do you have what it takes to be in the Kitty section, come to audition this Saturday at eight, so see you then!
Marinette wasn't rich in the slightest, so you couldn't blame her for almost fainting at the prize money. She and her family live and work at a bakery, so they weren't throwing their money everywhere like a slot machine. Marinette knew this would be a perfect chance to save her club and come up with the money.
Marinette knew she was smiling like a loon, but she didn't care one bit. She then looked at where the building was located, noticing she needed the password to get in.
"So what's the password?" Marinette asked with a smirk, which quickly turned to a shy grin when he whispered in her ear.
"Simply, Miraculous, Purrincess…." Unknown to Marinette and bad boy Adrien, this is the start of a story of a good girl meets a bad boy in a tangled romance.
