After the feast Hadrian quickly followed the rest of his fellow Ravenclaws through the castle carrying Lewis in his arms. Slowly the large group of first years wound their way through large and narrow corridors and up and down a few staircases before climbing up one final long spiral flight of stairs until they reached a door with an eagle knocker. As one of the prefects stop in front of the knocker they quickly knocked twice.

Each knock rang out like a bell and on the second knock the head of the eagle turned to them and asked, "Can a man legally marry his widow's sister in Salem?" pausing for a few moments the prefect thought through the question then replied, "No as if his wife is a widow then he is dead" for a long moment there was silence before the prefect groaned, "Damn got it wrong. What did I miss?" after a few moments of intense debate between the prefects the prefect turned to the knocker and said, "Assuming the wife's sister is alive to then the man cannot marry his wife's sister as if his wife is a widow then he is dead but if both the man and the wife's sister are ghosts then they can get married." As soon as the prefect had finished the knocker bowed regally and the door spun open.

Quickly the first years piled into the room eager to see the common room that the upper years had been talking about during the feast. Quickly Hadrian walked into the common room carful not to get knocked over by the other students as he admired the huge windows and the light gauzy fabric that hung from the point of the turret roof then draped over to the round walls where the blue and bronze fabric framed the large arched windows of the common room. The common room itself was divided into two main areas with one side occupied with soft luxurious couches and armchairs while the other side was filled with comfortable chairs and desks clearly designed for studying both by yourself and in groups. However, Hadrian's favirote part of the common room was the huge bronze book cases placed between each of the windows. Every spare inch of the bookcases was filled with books, tombs, textbooks, scrolls and even the occasional muggle ring binder.

While the first years where busy gazing around the common room in awe the older years had gathered together on the comfortable couches and chairs leaving the first years a selection to the front of the room near the large cream stone fireplace with a beautiful eagle engraved into the stone in blue and bronze.

As everyone settled down the two prefects from earlier stepped in front of the everyone and the girl said, "Hello everyone we are the new 5th year prefects this is Robert Hillard and I am Penelope Clearwater. We would like to welcome our new first years congratulations on your sorting to Ravenclaw the house of wit and intelligence in a few moments our head of house will come and speak to you. The older years are free to down to their rooms but please remember that you are a floor up from where you were last year and that your need to stick your name card on the door of the room you are staying in for the house elf's to deliver your trunks."

As soon as Clearwater had finished talking the older years scattered grabbing friends to share rooms with as they rushed down a flight of stairs hidden behind the fireplace. Turning back to the first years Clearwater grabbed a comfy chair and said, "Right now let's go over the basics before Professor Flitwick arrives." Pausing for a second to ensure that the rest of the first years were listening Clear water explained that the heads of houses where professor Filius Flitwick for ravenclaw, Professor Pomona Sprout for Hufflepuff, Minerva McGonagall for Gryffindor and Professor Severus Snape for Slytherin.

Clearwater went on to explain that Professor Snape favours Slytherin and dislikes Gryffindor's but so long as we remain respectful, he will be respectful in return. That you should always use a person's last name unless they invite you to use their first name, the school curfew for all years is ten o'clock but for first and second years they are expected to go to bed by nine, the Ravenclaw. Study groups and tutors are posted on the common room board next to the staircase that leads down into the dorms and finally that timetables will be handed out tommorow and classes will start tommorow.

Professor Flitwick arrived just as Clearwater finished talking the short man jumped in saying, "Thank you Miss Clearwater now first I would like welcome you all to Ravenclaw. Now I would like to remind everyone that we all come from different backgrounds, have different religious beliefs and that we should respect our peers for their differences and not draw arbitrary lines about what is right and wrong, as these judgements are what caused the last civil war. Too our muggle born's and muggle raised students I would like you to at least learn about the traditions and norms of the wizarding world which you are entering to prevent any misunderstandings and strife."

Professor Flitwick talked for a couple more minutes about the importance of both house unity and making friends outside of their houses before moving on to talk about the millennia of learning and history of the school.

Once Professor Flitwick had finished talking Hadrian followed the rest of the first years and prefects down the stairs to the first level, there was a small round landing with six doors three doors for the boys and three for the girls with each room holding two students. Hadrian quickly picked the left boy's door as its windows faced south ensuring that there would be plenty of light throughout the day. Soon another boy joined Harry introducing himself rather pompously as Anthony Goldstein of the Goldstein house."

Trying not to make any snap judgements Hadrian introduced himself as Hadrian Potter-Black Heir of houses Potter and Black. Not even acknowledging Hadrian's introduction Goldstein launched into a making tirade about Hadrian's clothing stating that as the saviour of the wizarding world he needed to dress the part not in those ridiculously traditional and snobby robes.

Bristling at the boys insult Hadrian replied shortly, "I chose the robes that I chose due to the fact that these where what I felt most comfortable wearing and if you don't like this style of robes that is fine I'm not expecting you to wear them.
