Author's Notes; University AU. Kinda slow. Start of plot. The idea for this came from an old rp..back when I used to rp..but omitting the first part of said rp, which was being stranded on a deserted island..Its basically a university AU taking place in Swizterland, which is why the fic title is in German..and I will translate to English for non German speakers.."Ein neues Leben in der Schweiz"=A new life in Switzerland.."Einen moment bitte"=One moment please.."Klar"=Clearly/Ok.."Schatz"=sweetheart.."Das Abendessen in der Schweiz"=The dinner in Switzerland..Please enjoy..

A young brunette boy with bright jade green eyes stepped off a train with his father, a white haired man with a thick mustache and beard along with blue eyes dressed in a lab coat. The boy and his father had left their old home in London and had arrived in Switzerland. The boy, X, had enrolled in a university and the man, Dr. Light, had changed workplaces so he could work closer with other scientists in his field in the area.

Once they left the train station, they paused to have a look around. The few high buildings were hotels and a few flats. Dr. Light urged X to stay close as they managed to find their way to the hotel and to their temporary room. Both enjoyed a day of rest after their long trip. Dr. Light was informed that his and X's belongings had shipped and would arrive in a couple of days to be setup wherever they were needed. X would soon be able to setup in his new university dorm. Dr. Light would have to work on finding an ideal new house, an issue he had come across while packing for their move. He and X weren't fond of living in the city. Both wanted a nice place in the countryside, but the doctor hadn't been able to find any houses on the countryside for sale.

When evening came, Dr. Light and his son strolled around the city, looking for somewhere to have dinner. There were many bread and pastry shops, even some sweets shops. X noticed one that served all of the above, even having an outdoor area. Dr. Light noticed it too, seeing the curiosity in X's eyes. "Maybe it won't be too bad."

Inside the restaurant was large. A girl with long brown hair and green eyes waited behind a podium. "Good day. How many?" She spoke with a German accent. "Two, please." Dr. Light said. X looked at his father as the girl grabbed two menus. "We didn't study up on German...did we?" Dr. Light shook his head. "No...hopefully she knows English." The girl lead them to one of the few empty tables. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. X could barely understand any words because most of the patrons were speaking either German, French, and even a few Italian speakers.

As they took their seats, the girl got out a pen and notepad. Her name tag read 'Hello, my name is Iris". "What drinks you want?" She asked, giving them the menus. "I'll have tea." Dr. Light said. "For me, too." X nodded. Iris nodded and wrote it down before going to get their drinks. "I don't think I've even seen anyone with such long hair before. If her hair wasn't tied, it would be on the floor." Dr. Light commented before opening his menu. "Me neither." X agreed, reading his menu. Neither of them were familiar with most of the entrees on the menu nor much of anything else. When Iris came back with their drinks, she got her notepad out again. "Are you ready?" "Ehh..we don't know what many of these dishes are." Dr. Light told her. Iris nodded. "Ok, einen moment, bitte." She then walked away into the kitchen in the back. X watched her before looking back to his father. "I guess she doesn't know how to explain them herself." Dr. Light shrugged. "Perhaps. Or at least not in English. Also possible."

After a short while, Iris came back to their table, though this time not alone. A slightly taller man with long thick blond hair in a ponytail and sky blue eyes followed behind her, dressed in black except for a red cooking apron. No nametag to be seen. Both he and Iris stopped at their table. "Good day, gentlemen. Iris here tells me you are not familiar with our entrees. You must be new here. I am the Sous chef here so I can answer any questions and give recommendations, if you prefer." The man said calmly. He had a German accent too, but he seemed to know his English. Dr. Light looked to the blond. "Would you explain these dishes to us?" The blond nodded. "Yes sir. German cuisine in general has a lot of meat. I argue the meat is so prominent it has led us into dishes that involve grilling whole pigs. Though, if meat is not your deal, we do have fine pastas, salads, and soups." X looked at the blond shyly from his menu. "I-I'm kinda interested in the soups." Before he knew it, a finger pointed to a menu item called 'Nudelsuppe'. "Then, I would recommend this one. Its a humble dish, but even pasta lovers enjoy it. It has noodles of course, chicken broth, and a lot of vegetables." The blond told him. X nodded shyly. "That actually sounds pretty good." "It comes with a side of dumplings as well, ok?" Said the blond. X blushed a little. "Yes, that's fine. Thank you."

The blond then turned to Dr. Light. "What about you, sir? Any preferences?" Dr. Light nodded gently. "Yes, I too am not the biggest fan of meat. "What would you recommend for pastas?" The blond chuckled. "The most popular, not only here in Switzerland, but in all of Germany is Spätzle. Its made from fresh eggs and flour and can be made in a variety of ways. Herbs, basil, potato, paprika, to name a few." Dr. Light grinned. "I'll try the Herb Spätzle then." The blond nodded. "A salad comes with that as well." Dr. Light grinned more. "Yes, that's great. Thank you." The blond looked to Iris. "Iris, eine Nudelsuppe und eine Spätzle." Iris nodded, writing it in her notepad. "Klar, Schatz."

It was when the two left that X and Dr. Light noticed something strange about the Sous chef. Not all of his hair was blond. Half of it to the bottom was a vibrant red. "Father, do you see what I see?" X started. Dr. Light nodded. "Half his hair is red with no trace red above it. I doubt that's normal and it doesn't seem like its dye." X nodded too. "Very strange.."

Instead of Iris, the Sous chef brought their meals to them himself. He set up a stand and set the tray down, giving X and Dr. Light their meals. "My word, you certainly went the extra mile. I must also say, your English is quite good." The blond chuckled. "Its no trouble, really. My mother is an English teacher so I have ended up with an advantage here. Not many who work here know English very well so I am always called when dealing with an English customer. I hope you enjoy yourselves." X managed to stop him just before he left the table. "Please..what is your name? You don't have a name tag." The sous chef checked his apron. "Hmm..so I don't. My name is Zero. I've been working here for maybe a year. You two are fresh faces. You must be new in town." X nodded. "My name is X. X Light. This is my father, Dr. Light." Zero gently shook X's hand. "Its a pleasure." He turned to Light. "The Dr. Light? My mother is a big fan of yours. She adores your Laws of Roboticism. She teaches English and Biology in a local university." Dr. Light shook his hand. "A pleasure. Oh really? Its truly a surprise to me when I learn I have fans. Are you going to any schools by any chance?" Zero nodded. "Yes, I will be. I actually won't live on campus because I'm a local." X blushed. "I'm going to university too. Maybe we'll see each other around."

After their meal, the bill, and a stroll back to the hotel, X couldn't stop thinking about Zero. X wondered if he was going to the same university as him, but he didn't get to ask before they left. "He seems like a sweet fellow." Dr. Light remarked as they retired to their hotel room. "Its strange. His eyes seem so familiar. Perhaps he's related to an old friend of mine." He said thoughtfully. X looked back at his father as he relaxed on the bed. "You don't know anyone who is a Biology and English teacher, do you?" Dr. Light shook his head. "No, I don't. It has to be his father's side. Though who I'm not quite certain."
